CAUTION - Do not fly with Sky Express

Do not fly with Sky Express. I don’t tend to leave reviews or complain but after this experience and treatment I want to make sure no one goes through the same.

Im currently visiting Greece and Italy for my honeymoon. When we flew with sky express from Athens to Santorini the flight was fine but my luggage never arrived (mind you it was priority). I filled out the report at the airport from the sky express representative, who advised it would be coming on another flight. I wasn’t to upset after hearing that because all I needed was a shirt and shorts for the time being.

Fast forward 2 days later, sky express customer service has yet to respond to my emails, and they have no contact number to call. I had all my clothes, toiletries, undergarments, jewelry, and items like blow dryer, shoes, and remembrance photo from my grandfather. I have been constantly emailing, and the only person that has contacted me is the lost baggage rep from Santorini airport not even sky express.

I’ve been calling every couple hours for an update and it’s always the same, that they have no information and they’re waiting on Athens airport for an update. I tried contacting Athens airport but there is no one you can speak with for lost baggage. Half the numbers I found online were out of service, and again no emails from sky express.

They keep saying they are waiting for an
Update but it’s a 45 minute flight and there are 4-6 flights per day between Athens and Santorini. Currently I am buying shirts from the gift shop.

My bank won’t help me, because they can’t confirm if it’s lost or delayed. And it has been a mess since landing.

Please proceed with caution, as apparently through reviews and speaking with the Santorini rep they advised this happens often. Which is scary if your traveling with important items

🚫 Unacceptable Service

Flight Delays, Lost Bag, and Refused Compensation for Damage

I had one of the worst airline experiences with Sky Express. My flight was delayed, my luggage was lost, and when it was finally returned, it was seriously damaged — with two broken wheels and a cracked corner, making it unusable.

I followed all the proper steps, including submitting a claim with photos, receipts, and a PIR report within the 7-day deadline. Sky Express responded dismissively, claiming this was just “minor damage” and refused any compensation — even though the bag is clearly not functional.

This is not acceptable customer service. They ignored EU passenger rights and the Montreal Convention, which protect travelers in exactly this kind of situation.

Worse, trying to get any response from their support was a nightmare — slow replies, no accountability, and no sign of care for passengers’ property.

I will never fly Sky Express again, and I strongly advise others to avoid this airline, especially if you're checking in luggage or expect any kind of customer support after your flight.

Do not use Sky Express if you want your luggage to arrive with you

Apparently it's standard to not load luggage on flights leaving Milos if the plane is going to be too heavy. This policy is bad enough but not telling you that this is happening but instead allowing you to discover this by the absence of your luggage in Athens is absolutely ridiculous. We've been told that it will be sent to our home address "in the next few days". It's the end of our holiday so we just get to delay doing the laundry but there are some very annoyed people here who are in the middle of a European tour and now don't have any clothes

AVOID SKY EXPRESS AT ALL COSTS – Appalling Treatment and Zero Accountability

We had an absolutely horrendous experience flying from Milos to Athens with Sky Express. Our family of four — two parents and two adult sons — were checked in and ready to travel together. Shockingly, at the boarding gate, our sons were denied boarding with no explanation or option to change plans, leaving us split up and helpless.

As a result, they missed their international connection to Rome, and the pre-booked ferry transfer to Ischia — all non-refundable. No assistance was offered, no care shown, and no one took responsibility. The women at airport were rude and disrespectful- despite my husband speaking fluent Greek. We were left scrambling, thousands of dollars out of pocket, and deeply distressed.

To make matters worse, when my husband and I landed in Athens, our luggage didn’t arrive. There’s been zero communication from the airline. When we approached help desk there was No guaranteed timeline, no apology, no sign that our bags will be returned — if ever. I have no idea how we get them to our island location in Italy .

There were tears, stress, and an overwhelming sense of helplessness. Sky Express showed no empathy, no accountability, ( in fact laughed when I was in tears) and no professionalism.

This is not just poor service — it’s a total failure of basic decency and operational competence.

DO NOT FLY SKY EXPRESS. Spend the extra money, choose another airline, and save yourself the heartbreak.

Had a very decent experience with Sky Express

Because of all the negative reviews I feel compelled to post a review about my own experiences with Sky Express. I have flown with them twice. From Ikaria to Athens and from Athens to Amsterdam. Both times were very pleasant experiences. Checked-in baggage is included with them, which is already a big plus, we got some small snacks on board when we flew to Athens l, which is rare for a budget airline. And both times the personnel was very friendly to us. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is because our flight to Athens was delayed by some 2 hours. But this was communicated alright and since I don't know the reason for the delay it could be that it was because of reasons that were out Sky Express' hands. All in all a very decent experience and I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again.

Our flight was delayed 2 hours and there was no info provided by the company. We were informed about the delay 10’ before when we were searching for the gate !! Worst choice I have ever made !
Would not recommend this one except you are in great need !!! And of course absolutely not if you have a connecting flight in very short time after the first flight !

Lost and damaged musical instrument

My musical instrument was lost for four days and finally returned clearly damaged. Since then, I've contacted customer service multiple times. After a single initial response, they’ve completely ignored me for over 10 days despite repeated follow-ups. This experience has been utterly unprofessional, irresponsible, and disrespectful. I will not be flying with this airline again...

Lost our flight - 20 min before the flight departure

We had a terrible experience earlier this morning. My partner and myself, lost our flight even though we were at the gate 20 min before the flight.
The Skyexpress representative at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport (ATH) - Mykonos
Airport (JMK) , gate B16 on 29/07/2025 did not help us when we were late and arrived at the gate 7:15am while the flight GQ230 departure was 07:35 ATH → 08:20 JMK

The bus was still at the gate but the representative closed the system and couldn’t help us. She was very rude.
We lost two tickets, money, time , and paid to get new tickets.

I could give zero stars

I could give zero stars, I would. Every single flight I’ve taken with Sky Express between Athens and Thessaloniki has been delayed — the last one over 2.5 hours. The captain arrived extremely late, offered no apology, and the flight ended with a rough, unsettling landing. There’s a clear lack of professionalism and respect for passengers. Very disappointed and no longer trust this airline

Delayed Wedding Luggage

On July 5th, 2025, I arrived at the Athens Airport from Milan Malpensa. However, my luggage did not. This was of great concern to me as I was in Greece to be in and attend a meaningful wedding. On the Saturday evening I was in Athens, I had to quickly shop for a new bridesmaid dress that would fit the right color scheme, shoes, essential heathcare items, and other important items that were meant for the wedding. I received and emailed at 3am on Monday morning, after I had already left Athens to go to the destination of the wedding, in Portaria, stating my bag made it to the Athens airport from Milan Malpensa. The Lost and Found and the airline provided absolutely no support or further communication after this. I was left distraught due to the fact I did not have my proper bridesmaid attire and I was also down hundreds of dollars. My bag was never delivered during my entire stay in Greece, even though the airport had it. I am appalled at this lack of duty. I finally retrieved my luggage when I returned to the Athens airport on Thursday, July 10th, in order to travel to my next destination.

Nothing was a problem...Thank You Sky Express

After all the negative reviews we'd read about rude staff and luggage failing to arrive, we were rather nervous about using SkyExpress for our internal flights between Athens and Naxos. Having returned from Athens, we have to say our experience was extremely positive. Our outward flight arrived earlier than expected in Athens and we approached the SkyExpress Ticket Desk to ask if we could change our onward flight to Naxos for an earlier flight. The staff were incredibly friendly and re-booked us onto an earlier flight without any additional charges or quibbles. Have to say, we were extremely impressed. Likewise the check-in staff, ground crew and flight crew were equally as friendly on both of our flights. Additionally there were no issues whatsoever with our checked baggage. The only reason we haven't given an "excellent" rating is the fact that both flights had a delay of 30-45 minutes. However, that can always be expected with internal island flights and we've experienced similar delays with Aegean.

Baggage lost and no costumer service

No matter what you do, never flight with this airline. They left all luggage for the entire plane in the departure location and it’s been 3 days and absolutely no costumer communication. No information or baggage status. No one picks up the phones. I’m surprised this company would get a license to operate.

Disappointing and Stressful Experience
I recently flew with Sky Express from Istanbul to Athens with my 10-year-old daughter. While our first flight was fine, the return flight turned into a very stressful and upsetting experience.

At Athens airport, I was not allowed to board the plane with my daughter unless I could provide a written permission from my husband, stating that I had his consent to travel with her. This came as a complete shock — we are both Australian citizens, and I had been traveling across countries with my daughter for two weeks with no issue at all.

The staff insisted this was part of the airline’s terms and conditions, but no one had mentioned this at the time of booking, during check-in, or on our previous flight. It felt absolutely ridiculous, especially given that I am her mother and legal guardian. The way the staff handled the situation was rude, unhelpful, and incredibly frustrating. Their English was poor, and they seemed uninterested in listening to or understanding my explanations. They just kept repeating that I couldn’t board the plane with my child.

In the end, I had to wake my husband up early in the morning to send an email stating his permission — which frankly could have come from anyone. It felt like an unnecessary and senseless obstacle that caused stress for both me and my daughter, especially at such an early hour.

This kind of policy (if it even is one) should be clearly communicated before travel, and the staff need proper training in customer service and communication. I will think twice before flying with Sky Express again.

Horrible experience Tuesday 15

Horrible experience Tuesday 15. on a flight from Paros to Athens. Wouldn’t check inn luggage all the way to Oslo. Sky Express flight delay 1.20 hours, and shuttle bus and luggage at Athens delayed as well. Had to run from my checked inn luggage when second final call with SAS to Oslo was announced.
Now, no one will help to find my luggage. Nor Sky express nor Goldair Handling (handling Sky Express luggage). No one answers telephone, no one answers costumers service online. And my luggage is still in Athens.

Misleading “Refundable” Tickets and Hidden Fees

I purchased Sky Express tickets with the “Make it Refundable” option, paying extra for peace of mind. But when I had to cancel, I was shocked to see nearly 50% of the fare withheld as so-called “Penalty RefundAsPaid” fees—a total of €260 for four tickets.

This refund policy is deeply misleading. “Refundable” should mean you can expect your money back, not that half of it will disappear under vague and confusing terms. The refund summary was full of cryptic charges with no clear explanation, and trying to understand what I was actually paying for was an exercise in frustration.

I genuinely expected better transparency and fairness. I trusted the “refundable” label, and instead I’m left feeling tricked. Unless Sky Express addresses this issue, I can’t recommend them to anyone looking for flexibility or honest policies.

Terrible airline company

Terrible airline company.
Change the flight at the last minute. Leave very late. The crew doesn't give any information when you are waiting to board even if the flight was supposed to be in the air. Very rude when you ask question. Avoid this airline

Sky Express sucks!

Sky Express sucks!
We got on the plane on Milos on the way to Thessaloniki via Athens. Our suitcases were not loaded on the plane but nobody told us. Two days later we found out that our suitcases were sent to Pireaus via ship. Three days later we still do not have all of our suitcases! Nobody picks up the phone in Athens or Milos. The lost and found in Thessaloniki is our only point of contact but there is very little they can do.
