Product arrived within a few days of ordering. Food arrived solidly frozen. Individual packages are easy to open. Our 10 month old female is very picky. This was a last ditch effort to offer good quality nutrition. She happily eats Smalls and especially loves it with your signature broth. The Bird Nip cat treats were also a big hit!

I recently adopted a new cat and wanted to give them quality food right at the start. My vet advised against most canned food, but he said Smalls is a great food with no added fillers. My cat loves it! An added bonus: his poop doesn’t stink! When he was fed kibble by the foster parent his poop was pretty stinky, now no stinky smell!
My cats love it!
Great product! Offers perfect nutrition for my older mature cats as well as my younger cat. I can definitely tell a difference in my older cats. They seem to have more energy and are not lethargic anymore. They play with my younger cat as if they are kittens again!

I switched my cats to Smalls Fresh Cat Food and I couldn’t be happier. It’s an all-natural food that’s incredibly easy to use, and my cats absolutely love it. The portions are simple to serve, and it fits perfectly into our daily routine.

Got the sampler and tried out the first flavor, fish, because my cat is obsessed with his other fish food that he gets as a treat. He immediately turned his head away from it and barely touched his other food because of the smell of it nearby. The fish food smelled HORRIBLE. I put it out for him 9 hours ago and my entire apartment still smells like fish.
I'm going to give the other flavors a go because I got the sampler as a treat for him, but it's seeming like torture instead so far.
Also, as other reviewers mention, it's extremely unclear that you're setting up a subscription (at no point does it mention subscription when you're ordering the sampler box). The price is outrageous and it's clear to me that they're trying to trick people into getting their first box.
If you want to feed your cat needlessly expensive food that isn't any better than a high quality vet approved food, this is for you.
The people at Smalls have answered every question I've had with a great deal of knowledge. I've text several times with questions and they have got back to me right away. Smalls is fantastic!!
I have txt several times since I first bought my Maine Coon kitten home in December 2025. At first he was used to eating what the breeder gave him. After a while he refused that so I contacted Smalls. I txt them many times with questions and they were able to get right back to me. They are wonderful. Now my boy is 5 months old and eating Smalls.
Fresh Product
Smalls has great customer service, reflecting pride they have in their products. Items are neatly packaged (frozen) and are fresh to the smell. Smalls is a reliable company.
Poor service for expensive but great cat food
My low review is based on customer service, the company’s poor planning and their choice to automatically send a different recipe when they run out of a product.
I have had a subscription with Smalls since 2022. My cat, Willow, loves the pulled bird recipes and I love giving her a variety of textures and preparations. I was happy with Smalls until the last few years.
They have been consistently out of the shreds and when they don’t have it, they automatically send me something else. I have never had a company pick something else to send me when they are out of what I have a subscription for…and for a cat food company to do this is insane because any cat lover knows how picky cats are.
Smalls is not cheap! I’m willing to pay more for a quality cat food if my cat will be eat it but I can’t get what she likes from Smalls anymore and she won’t eat what they keep sending me.
I complained to them after the last shipment and received a very unhelpful email that they “can confirm that we sent a notification email…that the recipe in your next order would be replaced with the Ground texture. Sometimes the notifications get caught in Spam or Promotions, so it’s worth checking there if you missed it.” Maybe I’m just irritated but that feels like a brush off.
The next shipment is supposed to be coming up and they didn’t even bother to tell me they are still out. It’s just a normal receipt for the wrong recipe which I guess is my subscription now 🙄
I’m not wasting my time or money with Smalls anymore. I cancelled my subscription. Unfortunately I haven’t found an equivalent replacement but Willow will just have to find a new favorite 😊

Bad company
My mother bought cat food from this smalls company and our cat would not eat it. I went in to cancel the subscription for her but they are sending another shipment like I never cancelled the subscription. And they won’t stop the shipment and give my mom back her money , which by the way was &110. My mom lives on a fixed income and she can’t afford to have tgat amount of money taken out of her account after the subscription was supposed to be cancelled!!!!

This review is not on the food itself. I would rate that a 5. My cat absolutely loves the food and I haven't had anymore vomiting since I switched.
My review is regarding my recent order. My package was delivered without any coolant and some of the food was thawing (the top and next layer). I purchase the 56 pack box so it is a lot of food and the most expensive. Every other order has included coolant. When I contacted Smalls (twice now) I was informed that their operations team has decided to not include coolant if they believe the weather is sufficient to keep it cold. Now my issue is that ALL of my winter orders had coolant, this one, where the temps were in the 50's, did not and they feel that is okay! Please be aware and if your box has no coolant and your food is thawing, contact them immediately because nothing will change until customers speak up. I expect coolant in frozen food I buy for myself and I expect coolant when I buy frozen food for my pets. I will be disposing the thawed food because I can't trust if it thawed and refroze and thawed during transit. If you are going to market as sending frozen food, PACK IT WITH COOLANT per common shipping guidelines.

It was not made clear that I was setting up an account. I order samples since my cat is very particular. She did not like the food at all. Then I get a full order with a price tags of over $100 plus. Without putting in an order, I could not call anyone which is totally wrong. And the person text/emailing was rude stating i couldn't get a refund. This is bad business. And believe me I will jot ever recommend your company.

There was some fairly regular cat vomiting happening in our house when we decided to try Smalls. Our 19-year-old cat is picky, and so far, won’t try Smalls, however, since putting the 17-year-old on Smalls, vomiting has ceased almost completely.
Also, in the few dealings I’ve had with Smalls’ customer support, I have found them extremely helpful, professional, and a pleasure to deal with.

My cats love smalls! They are especially partial to the bird and pig options, as well as the cat nip snacks! Their favorite treats ever. It’s well worth the price! Bonus: their poop has truly not smelled one time since switching to smalls.
Proceed with caution
I ordered a trial for my three cats. They did not Like the food and I tried all of their recommended suggestions. I am not upset because they did not like the food. I am upset because I got notice they are sending me a gazillion more packets that I do not want or need. I thought I had nothing to lose with a 30 day refund period but I had no idea they were going to send me 40 more packets 2 weeks in to that 30 days at $100+. Had my cats liked the food, I wouldn’t even of had time to change the types I ordered. Be aware and stay mindful that Smalls will move fast to charge you before you have the opportunity to cancel.
