I am Non-Resident and its not always straightforward to set up a UK company but the instructions and the process for me were clear and straightforward and everything happened exactly the way it was all described. I got the company set up as I wanted and the registered office service is working perfectly. Job done!

Easy to navigate the packages and the website. Chat, email and telephone support available. The pricing is straightforward and transparent. I had my company registered the same day. Very simple.

Edit:
Following their response, I can confirm they have refunded us, so that's great. Thank you.
The comments about using "Smart Search" for ID verification leave me scratching my head.
If I'd been able to use a proper system for verifying my ID it wouldn't have been an issue. Maybe they've just brought that in? Who knows. I conversed with multiple people about it and they all said I had to e-mail my ID in.
Original Review:
Oh dear, where to start...
We already had a company, so maybe that was our first error?
We wanted to move our registered office, so I clicked the "buy" button at the top of the registered office service page, but apparently that wasn't the correct way to do things.
What you actually have to do (which I only discovered after a painfully drawn out discussion via their online "chat") was create a company, then add the service via their weird online portal (looks like it was designed circa 2003)
I should have given up at this point and saved my money.
After signing up everything seemed fine. I got access to the secure document portal. There was a bit of a red flag that the password was sent to me in plain text, but when I queried this they assured me that passwords are stored encrypted.
But then I couldn't change my password, and despite numerous attempts to ask them about this, they didn't provide any way to change it.
As expected, they asked for ID related to money laundering. Pretty standard. The e-mail was very short on detail, including what ID verification service they use.
I had to contact them when they sent me a "reminder" for the ID verification as they still hadn't told me how the verification worked. The reason for this... they wanted me to e-mail the documents to them. In plain, old unencrypted e-mail.
I queried this, but I had to phone them as they wouldn't tell me over e-mail / chat (I'm not sure why).
The phone line was incredibly bad and the person I spoke to did not sound like they worked for a reputable organisation but sounded like they were on speaker phone a long way away from the phone.
Their "solution" was apparently to e-mail them with a password protected file and then phone them to give them the password.
At this point I was feeling less and less like I wanted to provide them any of this personally identifiable documents which could easily be used to steal identities. Even if I followed the weird process, I was still giving this "company" copies of multiple ID documents for the directors of my company.
They "graciously" gave me an extension to the deadline for ID following this discussion.
I still hadn't completely decided what do do and when preparing the documents, I noted that they needed something with a photo and an address. Fair enough, standard requirement. So I e-mailed to ask if I could use a driving license as the address requirement (as it contains an address) as long as we used a passport for the photo requirement (this is a standard UK government thing and listed as acceptable on their website, but not in Smart Formations "list".
I e-mailed them on Tuesday at 1:15pm to ask this.
I didn't hear anything back until 5:28pm on Wednesday, when all I got was a request to provide a phone number.
Unfortunately I was then out of the office so unable to do so, so apparently that was enough for them to terminate the service.
Obviously because in their view I "failed to provide ID" (despite their method of providing ID being wholly inadequate, and quite frankly dangerous from an identify theft point of view, they have cancelled the service and are not providing a refund.
I honestly could not recommend any use this company for _anything_ in good faith. They seem to have a lot of positive reviews so maybe they used to be good, or maybe people aren't thinking about what they're doing.
To me, it's deeply disturbing.

On 14/08/25 I called the Smart Formations Helpdesk to ask for an Authorisation Code to do online stuff with Companies House AND to tell Smart Formations I wouldn't be renewing our Company registration post Dissolution...
Patim guided me through all of the above expertly and efficiently. He was excellent.

We used their website on around 22 May, someone literally 1-2 months later in Indonesia, with SAME address and SAME categories of business registerd the company into company house and assigned the director to Indonesian national (50+ years person) living in Indonesia? This is clearly a breach of not only safety, it’s a case of identity squatting fraud. We have already reported this to the police and now starting to draft up letters for legal proceedings.
