Total rip off. Although it’s always nice to revive gifts from people but in my view these are a complete con to the point where I actually hate getting them. I’ve had a number of these type of gifts over the past 10 years and I can honestly say they are all a con. This particular one from supposed Smartbox, was one of the worst. The website is shocking as is the options on where you can use. Add that to expired dates basically you are giving your money away. I’ve tried 3 different events with smart box and all locations say they no longer accept smart box. One of them said this was to do with Smartbox not paying. This is nothing more than a pyramid scheme oh and you can’t speak to anyone to get your money back. Avoid at all costs. I can’t believe in this day and age this can be legal.
Bought High Street Dining voucher for a friends anniversary, Their evening was a disaster, due to incompetent action of the manager of The Bella Italia, at Gunwharf Quays Portsmouth.
Anniversary totally ruined. Will not use Bella Italia in the future.

Website was very difficult to navigate and unclear. There are not enough places near to where I live, to choose from. I found one, down south, Chateau at Ginestas, and tried to reserve but was told that they have one room reserved for smartbox vouchers in the high season (which is when we are near by) and that they were full booked until summer 2023. I contacted them asking about reserving for then, but they did not reply. One gets the feeling that smarbox voucher holders are NOT felt to be worth taking any trouble over.

My husband was given a smart box 2 nights away with a 3 course meal on 1 night from my sons for his 60th birthday. We chose the castle tavern in Richmond North Yorkshire. Booking with them was easy but when we checked in we weren't given any details of our meal so when I checked the following day I was told they weren't aware of this it was under new mamanagement (although we only booked 10 days before) it was the chefs night off that night so nobody to cook. We could have got this break a lot cheaper for 2 nights without the meal I feel this is some sort of scam.
Having rejected my credit card three times, I almost went to smartbox's competitor. A tiresome website, which has left a bitter taste in the mouth. Hopefully, by the time my experience comes, I'll have forgotten that I wasted an hour on two consecutive Sundays trying to book it.
