While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

Non existent customer service

I have been working with Smurfit Westrock for approximately 17 years, but unfortunately the level of customer service has now deteriorated to the point where I would strongly advise others to consider alternative suppliers.
What used to be a straightforward working relationship has become obstacle after obstacle. Communication is extremely poor, promised calls from managers never materialise, and getting even basic information such as expected delivery dates has become unnecessarily difficult.
Despite having always paid invoices in full and on time, and previously operating on full credit terms, we were recently refused even a simple 50/50 payment arrangement (50% upfront and 50% upon delivery) to help protect ourselves from risk. This felt completely unreasonable given the length and reliability of our trading history.
After 17 years as a customer, I expected professionalism, transparency and basic customer care. Sadly, that has not been our experience recently.
I am sure many other packaging companies would provide a far better level of service and communication than Smurfit Westrock currently offers.

I am unfortunate enough to live…

I am unfortunate enough to live directly behind the Whitehaven factory. There have been pest control issues at the factory for years - it is due to the building, specifically the roof, not being fit for purpose, and as such it makes the perfect nesting ground for seagulls. There is seagull muck everywhere (my property and theirs is literally pasted with the stuff) and the birds constantly swoop locals, including my 21 month old son every time we leave the property or attempt to use our garden. This has eventually led to our garden being out of use for our son for the entirety of the summer every year.
I’ve had numerous communications with the company on this matter and they have failed to fix the root cause of the problem. Instead they deploy the same ineffective measures which fail year after year. They are too greedy to put their hand in their pockets and fix their roof and are prepared to let their local community, including my family, suffer as a consequence.
Given that they manufacture food and beverage packaging you’d think they’d have higher standards in terms of vermin control.
