This system has become priceless to me

This system has become priceless to me. Instead of needing spreadsheets for gold, silver, copper, crypto, ETFs, stocks, and separate software to research, graph and track all of those assets separately - it can all be done in this one place. This saves time and aggravation and that makes it an asset.

The single most useful investing app that I use

Snowball Analytics is a truly amazing app that finally brought order and instant valuations to my highly diversified and complicated series of portfolios. I can't recommend it enough.

Stop using spreadsheets and/or apps that sorta/kinda track your investments to some degree, as I was doing. This is a 'one-stop shop' that will replace chaos with order, giving you instant valuations and charting tools to your investments.

A major (and for me, unexpected) advantage of this app was that Snowball Analytics sends you a detailed report every week on how your investments performed during that week. If you have a widely diversified portfolio as I do, I recommend subscribing at the top tier (Expert) level that allows you unlimited portfolios. This way, you can create a separate portfolio for every sector, being as detailed as you wish.

If you take the trouble to do this, the report that you will receive each weekend will track in exquisite detail how each of your asset sectors performed in the previous week. By far the best (and most painless) way to keep track of your investments.

Great Time Saving Customer Support

I had a question about something I had struggled with and finally decided to seek support. Normally I am able to figure things out on my own but I was stymied with something that would allow me to save a lot of time and effort. I reached out for support via email and received a very quick and thorough response to solve the problem.
Great customer support!

I really like how Snowball Analytics summarizes my stocks and tells me how much dividends my stocks will make. I also like how it tells me what my total amount made is including my dividends.

Great Product - Wish Dividend estimation was more Accurate

Hi all,

I love the user interface, ease of connecting accounts, and the tracking of all the numbers. Snowball is a great product.

I feel an area where we could improve is the math in the estimation of future dividends and monthly payments. The way that it is set up now, even with reinvesting dividends, one holding will pay the same amount, estimated, over an entire year. That is just unrealistic, even if dividends weren't reinvested. It doesn't really give an accurate view of growth.

I know it may be hard to estimate future payments in the case that reinvestments aren't enabled, but we could utilize the Goal chart for that. Would it be possible to take some of that information, such as monthly contribution amount, divide it up amongst holdings and use that to help with estimated monthly dividend? Another option could be to ask us (users) if we want DRIP on, then the forward calculation should be easy just assuming drip and no contributions.

I really enjoy Snowball but this is a pretty major drawback as I look to the future. For dividend investors, it's arguably the most important stat. Really hoping we can make some strides toward improvement on this.

Best,

Naim

Hi Naim, thank you for your detailed feedback. Please note that we use the most popular dividend calculation methods, as do most other sources, namely, TTM and FWD. Since this is only a forecast, no method is perfect. For many users, these two methods are fundamental, which may not be acceptable for you, but we use the core dividend forecasting methods used by 90% of services and users.

Extremely fast customer support

I had some problems with syncing using one of their partners (wrong values were being synced). They answered my emails in less than 1 hour and contacted their partner, after a few days they contacted me back saying everything was resolved (and it was). They not only answer emails really fast, but also do it on weekends!
One of the best customer support experiences i had if not the best.
Their portfolio tracking is also one of the best from all the ones i have tried. Highly recommend!

Bad User Experience and Not Secure

Holy Cow.

Let me preface this by saying I have had a long career as a software developer and architect. I have designed and implemented secure systems with top notch UI/UX.
At one firm, we had firms from other countries, in similar industries (non competitive, regional based), calling us to find out how we did things, because news got THAT FAR about how smoothly major transitions went.

Ok, that's just to set qualifications.

I got a suggestion via Google that Snowball was "the best overall" for dividend investment tracking.

So I signed up.

First thing I did, of course, was to try linking to my broker. It immediately failed with a generic "oops, technical issues, try again later". Tried again and again. No dice.

So I emailed.

Turns out my broker and the chosen aggregator don't work together. It didn't tell me that before OR after.

UX rule of thumb: Don't present your customer with options they can't use, and certainly don't "scold" them for trying it. Snowball clearly knows these combinations don't work, so why are they being shown to me?

Part Deux: Finally got a chance today to try again.
Turns out my browser on my home PC still had the window open.

Not only was it open, but I was still logged into my active session from the day before. No inactivity timeout, nothing, I could continue where I left off.

HUGE security and privacy hole here. There needs to be a rolling timeout window to protect your information and there isn't. Unacceptable.

Seems that development effort went all into showy charts and graphs, and either no effort, or no skill went into securing your financial data.

With this kind of gaping hole in security and privacy, I have to wonder if credentials and other sensitive information is encrypted at rest in their database, of it this is just a giant security breach waiting to happen.

I have huge concerns, as a would-have-been customer and as someone who has spent a career designing and implementing secure and user-friendly systems.

I never would release something with these two issues. I won't be sticking around to see what else they cut corners on.

Hello,
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback – security issues are indeed important. However, "no logout" in itself does not imply a vulnerability or a violation of best practices.

First, modern web services often use long-lived sessions with token rotation rather than aggressive idle timeouts. This is a balance between security and UX: if the user's device is already authorized and protected by the OS, forcing a logout after a short period of time can actually reduce security (people start using weak passwords or disable 2FA for convenience).

Second, session security isn't determined solely by the timer. Commonly used methods include:
• HttpOnly / Secure cookies and XSS/CSRF protection
• Server-side token revocation and device binding
• Risk-based reauthentication (e.g., for a new IP address, device, or sensitive actions)

Third, having an active tab on your personal PC is, first and foremost, a trusted device model. Most services assume that workstation security (lock screen, disk encryption, separate profiles) is the responsibility of the user.

Finally, the lack of a visible idle timer has nothing to do with whether data is encrypted "at rest"—these are entirely different architectural levels. Almost all modern fintech solutions use data and key encryption at the infrastructure level, regardless of session policy.

Of course, there is always room for improvement (for example, a configurable timeout or manual device management), but the behavior described in itself does not indicate a major security hole.

Regarding the lack of connection to the broker, unfortunately, Yodlee recently stopped supporting some brokers, and we were forced to remove them from the available connection options. This happens occasionally, as we use a third-party to connect to the broker. However, you could simply email us, and we'll find a solution that will satisfy you.
