Terrible chargers

Terrible chargers! They charge £49 pre-authorisation and also each time you try to charge and it fails they charge you again. I attempted to charge three times and for some reason it just doesn’t like my smart car. I was charged £150 which was held for an inordinate amount of time!

I don’t recommend Source EV charging…

I don’t recommend Source EV charging stations.
Every time I go there to charge, it takes 2–3 attempts before it actually starts. Each failed attempt charges and holds £25, which they keep for 7–15 days. Even when using their app, the same issue happens. Their prices are also very high. What a joke — avoid using their services.

I wish I went on this review page…

I wish I went on this review page before charging my car with source EV. Couldn’t charge my car as pay as you go need to call up customer support for them to reset the machine twice, took £49 which I was told would be refunded after my charge has finished which I found out takes up to 7/10 working days to refund which is absurd. Only used £23 of charge.
Never again.

Tried to charge my car at Gapton Hall…

Tried to charge my car at Gapton Hall in Great Yarmouth but all the units wouldn't accept a credit card despite information saying they do. Tried to speak to somebody at Source EV only to deal with an employee with such a strong foreign accent and such poor command of the English language, I gave up and went elsewhere. Only in Broken Britain do we offer such substandard services to the EV motoring public.

Absolute nightmare with the payment and…

Absolute nightmare with the payment and the charger would not start after payment. There is no customer service and there is no support. The payment was supposed to be refunded but that did not happen, on top of that I was obviously charged a £22 idle fee when using the next charger that worked! Avoid this scam company at all cost!!!!

Avoid Source Charging — Unreliable and Withheld My Money

I recently used a Source charging station and was shocked by how poor the experience was. Before charging, they took a £49 pre-authorization, which is already excessive for a basic session. After completing my charge — which only cost £9.88 — they failed to return the remaining amount in a timely manner.

I contacted customer service and was told it could take up to 10 days to return the funds. That’s completely unreasonable, especially when most banks process refunds like this in 24–48 hours. I now have money tied up for no good reason, despite having proof of the final transaction.

The whole process felt outdated, inefficient, and unfair to the customer. Looking at reviews online, it’s clear I’m not the only one experiencing this — it seems like Source regularly withholds funds, has poor customer communication, and offers very little accountability.

I’ll be avoiding Source in the future and recommending others do the same. If you need your money quickly or want a hassle-free charging experience, go elsewhere

Membership Benefits Not Accessible Without Physical Card

I’ve been paying membership fees to Source London (TotalEnergies) for a few months now, but today I had a really disappointing experience. I needed to charge my car, and even though their app recognized me as a member and had my bank details, they charged me guest rates—almost double what members pay! They also held £49 as a deposit. The worst part is that I couldn’t use my membership benefits because I didn’t have my physical membership card with me. It’s ridiculous that I have to carry a card when the app already knows I’m a member.

I’ve requested to cancel my membership through the app, so we’ll see if that goes smoothly. For now, I’m really disappointed in how they handle membership benefits. Hopefully, they’ll improve their system to make it more convenient for users.

Total Energies is a big problem

I’ve been a Source London customer since July 2024 and they were fine. I never had any issues until when Total Energies took over. It started with my Source London card just stopped working with a message appearing on the charge point that I must use my new card to continue using the service. This happened despite moving over to the new app and updating my payment details. Luckily I had an octopus card with me which got the charger up and running. Another issue that I’ve been experiencing over the last couple weeks is; I get a flashing green light but nothing happens when I connect my cable even though I can see that that the car recognises that a cable is connected. I move onto another and the same happens. The forth charger worked luckily but methinks Total aren’t too bothered for some reason.

A Total disaster

Total has taken over Source London and my subscription card no longer works. You call the number that used to be answered fast by Source London. You get a french lady who after 10 minutes says "desole, we are too busy dealing with other people's complaints to talk to you" and cuts the line. Do you get the impression that Total doesn't like EVs? I do.

Give ‘em credit - they made a terrible thing worse.

“How could we make our service worse?”
“Well, we need to update the app - why don’t we just shut it down, and then force people to get a totally new one!”
“That won’t inconvenience them much…”
“It will if we don’t transfer their payment details. Nothing will work!”
“OK, but won’t they try and fix it before they go to the charging station? I mean, we need them to still pay, right?”
“That’s the genius bit. We DON’T TELL THEM THIS IS HAPPENING! By the time they’re looking at this, they’re standing in the street wondering what the feck is going on! They’ll sign any old user terms, just to get the blue light off the charger!”
“Brilliant! I feel it’s missing something though… cherry on the cake…”
“I KNOW! Let’s bill them … in EUROS!!!!”

The Worlds Worst EV Charging Experience

So awful. If I could leave minis stars, I would ! Every charger without fail has ‘failed to start’ yet costs me £50 on a ‘temporary’ charge that takes weeks to return. Honestly, the service is so bad that I am surprised this hasn’t been unveiled as a con. Awful. Avoid unless you’re a glutton for punishment

Source London unable to provide

All source London chargers in my area start green then turn red before any charging. This has been happening today and yesterday. Tried calling , put on hold and then disconnected as the maximum time has lapsed. All agents are busy dealing with furious callers. I pitty this who only have an electric vehicle as they will be snookered.
The lamp post charging points each deducted £25 each time I tried to connect to a new lamp post🤬

An absolutely atrocious company

An absolutely atrocious company. Unfortunately Camden have done a deal with them so they are the only option where I live. I have spent many hours of my life trying unsuccessfully to get charge - far more often than the few occasions I have actually succeeded. Worst thing is they require a deposit of £50 every time you plug in to one of their chargers (regardless of whether you are successful or not) - this has happens 5 times to me today and I still have not had any charge

Not a good advert for buying an EV

Tried 4 different chargers near Royal Albert Hall. 3 didn’t have any QR code so no way to start a charge as their app is appalling and doesn’t let you book or initiate charges - doesn’t seem to do anything other than be very slow. A 4th charger did have a code but the website endlessly crashed or payment processing just hung. Gave up in the end having wasted a good 30 mins. How and why do you make it so difficult? Taking up lots of spaces for parking in London for no good reason - not a single person using ANY of your chargers / spaces and now I know why. Utterly useless!!
