Misleading
I’ve been using this app to rent out a room, and at first it seemed promising because I received a lot of replies. But after paying attention, I realized almost every message is nearly identical, like copy-and-paste responses. It feels like the app is generating fake engagement just to keep users active.
Whenever I respond to these “interested” people, nobody ever replies back. Not a single conversation continues past the first message. It’s extremely suspicious and feels like a scam tactic to make you think your listing is getting real attention when it’s not.
This app needs to be more transparent about where these messages are coming from. Right now, the interactions feel fake and misleading. I wouldn’t recommend this platform

I have used Spare Room a couple of times & found them very good & helpful The staff is very polite when you call & will direct you exactly to where you need to go for the best result If I need a new room-mate again in the future I will contact them right away I recommend them highly!

Good and not so good
It was nice to meet my new tenant on Spare Room but that was after 3 weeks of leads that appeared fake with AI generated images and potential tenants that I never heard back from again. One of the people who contacted me actually seemed to be looking for women to date and he added the ages of the females he wanted to live with. There were some very disappointing messages.

Out of all the rental apps I’ve used I get the least responses from spareroom.com
I’ve not been happy with the service or responses from tenants. I would not recommend spare room as a landlord looking for tenants
