Money Grabbers

Their credit agency and the company are money grabbing scabs. Note: $99 minimum deposit will increase if they have made a major mess up and want to recoup their losses. Apparently if you buy a new phone and it is bundled with a new number, you are penalized $150 if you disconnect the old number from your account to stop it from draining a monthly plan though not in use.

Absolute useless & confusing app & web…

Absolute useless & confusing app & web sitenbh incorrectly applies top ups, then starts charging you casual rates.
Crap customer service when trying to contact them & getting issues sorted, they don't even understand their own products.
Wouldnt credit casual charges even though account was in credit.
DO NOT USE SPARK, DO NOT USE SPARK.

the worst experience i’ve ever had in a store.

Absolutely awful I was treated so horribly in store got argued with my staff told I was wrong. One lady particularly was rolling her eyes at me every time I asked a question would speak over me and overall wouldn’t help me with any issues. Any time I asked for help or came up with a solution to the problem they would arise another one. I even was on the phone with spark customer service and they gave me more help than in store. I walked back in store and they told me I was pretty much lying about the conversation I had on the phone I was in store for over an hour just going back-and-forth with them with NO real help. in the end I told them and myself I can’t do this because they are genuinely upsetting me. and i’ll be taking myself to a different spark joint to hopefully solve what I am needing help with. Absolutely disgusted by the Westgate spark staff and think it needs to be seriously looked into. That is the most appalling customer service and human decency I have ever seen.

I just signed up with Spark

I just signed up with Spark, and I'm furious. I initially requested a tech to come to the property since it doesn't have an ONT. They promised that a tech would come on July 22nd. I took the day off to be available, waited until midday with no call. When I called for an update, they told me to contact Tutahi Fiber, as they're the ones coming to the property. Tutahi Fiber said they were waiting for an amendment from Spark. When I called Spark back, they admitted they were waiting to respond but couldn't promise when the tech would come. I was livid—I had taken leave, and they clearly didn't care.

The next day, a field engineer called and arrived within 20 minutes, finally installing the ONT. My connection was supposed to activate by July 26th. Busy moving, I realized around 4:30 PM that my internet still wasn't active. They replied they would ask Tutahi to activate it. This should have happened in the morning! They said it would be activated within 24 hours. After 25 hours, it still wasn't active, and now they said it was scheduled for Monday. I've been without internet for three days. I regret ever choosing Spark. Horrible service—would not recommend.

Spark is an embarrassment

Spark is an embarrassment. The worst customer service I have come across, make promises they don't keep, have to keep on them for a promised credit they also wont give. Gave one months notice to cancel fibre, they cancelled the next day. How often do they do this hoping no one will notice, but still charge for the month. Took a week to get it back on. Still trying to get things sorted a month later. I am not sure if there actions intentional to stop getting what your owed or truly this bad, hard to comprehend the incompetency.

After 30 years of being a customer of Spark/Telecom.
Be aware they trip you up on a $ Loyalty credit scheme on your contract which expires at the end of a contract and then rolls over in a $500 debt as you aren't made aware that its expired - their communication is only via automated emails.
The customer service is poor, I made an enquiry which was under investigation and then no return call was made and during that period my account accumulated debt which they have made me accountable for - not their poor service.
Misleading pricing and minimal communication.
No transparency with pricing
Avoid using this corporate, my experience has been dreadful.
No value in staying long-term with this company - I have been penalised in doing so. They have no customer value or care about retention.

Don't go near this company

Don't go near this company. We were new customers to spark, for broad band. It appears that the person in the spark shop put the wrong details on the forms. They didn't seem to be able to correct, but kept telling us they would sort it. We ended up cancelling it. Completely and utterly incompetent, it's no wonder the reviews are so bad. Don't think spark look at these reviews , or they don't just care.

I phoned to cancel our rural wireless…

I phoned to cancel our rural wireless broadband service + landline. Currently costing around $120 a month including $10 each month for landline and $10 for the extra 10GB auto top up when we invariably go over our 200GB of data. Previously been advised this is the best service/package available an max data available. Customer support asked me why I was canceling. When I advised because we run out of poor quality data every month and it doesn't meet our needs. She advised me, did you know there is an unlimited package available in your area for $65 per month +$10 for your landline and you get free Netflix. We'll why am I paying double that every month and going without data when we run out. She apologised for the inconvenience. Seems more like a rort and a rip off than an inconvenience. Why wouldn't Spark contact me with this offer, that clearly suits our needs, this is not the first time I've contacted spark asking how to get more/better broadband. Oh it only became available earlier this year. OK so why didn't I get notified. Effectively been paying close to twice as much for an inferior product that didn't meet our needs. Over 12 months the difference is over to $500 and we often go without broadband when it runs out. Feels like no care for the consumer until we were leaving. Happily banking our money for package that offers an inferior product and poor value for money compared to the package offer available. Have been with Spark for over 20 years.

Pathetic customer service . I recently changed my plans and all of sudden my broad band stopped working. For past 5 days the technical dumbs are working on my problems without giving solutions . Spark is such an stupid company . They squze the money from customers without giving them the services . Please dont take any of connections from spark.

Absolutely disgusted with this company and the people who work for them, 7 months I have had a phone needing to be unlocked for all networks, 7 months later I have been to the spark store, 8 times i have called 20 times, I was sent to queenstown, for my phone to be unlocked, and yes you guessed it SPARK NZ did nothing, after showing them emails and conversations of my problem, that spark had caused in the first place, Spark has not assisted me, Spark has not unlocked my phone for networks after paying it off 6 months in advanced I am absolutely angry at the people from spark nz, I have been into the store today after being told to come here to have my phone fixed, $300 later spark did nothing, I then decided to message the spark chat, and they did nothing else, they just left me in the deep end, and told me I have to return to the spark store, happily typing this as I am there now, and Spark nz will do nothing, absolutely disgusting,I have all photos from multiple people I have felt with am writing a very angry complaint, and yes also The Phone Is Under warranty, ut that doesnt seem to make them care about their customers problems

Absolutely terrible system and service

Absolutely terrible system and service. I’ve used their prepaid mobile plan for over 2years now the first year and half without issue but for some reason at the start of the year my auto top-up and reminders just stopped. So I message to try get it sorted but don’t get any reply for over an hr so I call. After a lot of run around finally get it sorted and auto top up set up. For some reason it charged me twice so have to do the whole run around again but now call is unavailable because it’s after 5. So I message and the person I’m messaging seems more concerned about upselling me stuff rather then refunding me, this goes on for about 45mins and then they claim they can’t do a refund…. So now I have to wait until the next day to call back. I call the supposedly sort it, I leave it at that but then I check my spark account and they haven’t done it… call again finally get that refund processed and back in my account… only for them to double charge me again this top up. Messenger takes over an hr to reply to the first message… terrible terrible service and processes

English speaking people

Trying to talk to a person who speaks unbroken english is next to Impossible. You cannot understand any of the Asians or Indians, which is probably sparks plan because it's so damn hard to cancel anything or get get any decent information from a person because of this barrier.
