Overpriced

Overpriced, prices increase all the time. How they justify almost £1000 for everton v palace (Feb 2024) is just ridiculous. 2 rooms at Holiday Inn express and 4 footy tickets. This similar package was around £575 last year (2022/23 season) absolute rip off. Never again will we book with this company.

Hi R Hill,

Thank you for your feedback, and sorry to hear you are disappointed with our pricing for the Everton v Crystal Palace fixture.

Prices do fluctuate across the season, and we go on sale before the start of each new season when we have a lot of availability with cheaper hotel options.

I can confirm that there is still availability for the game you require at the Holiday Inn Express Liverpool which comes to a total of £856.00 (£214.00 per person). This includes a 1-night hotel stay, breakfast, and your official match ticket.

Should you wish to speak to one of our team, our contact centre is open Monday - Friday from 8.30AM - 6.00PM.

Many thanks

I spent thousands of pounds with this company. Something went wrong with the hotel- not their fault- but their response was appalling 'nothing to do with us'. I strongly recommend finding an alternate supplier for any trips you are considering- very poor customer care experience. Spoiled the trip of a lifetime.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear of the issue you faced post match at the hotel when the hotel bar was closed.

Rest assured that your feedback is important to us, and we thoroughly followed up your complaint with the hotel who responded to us a lot later than expected.

We have passed on your feedback to the hotel, and we're pleased you enjoyed the match break experience despite the issue with the bar being closed on your return.

Many thanks

Paid £9556 for 4 tickets for category…

Paid £9556 for 4 tickets for category one seats and 2 nights accommodation for the 2023 rugby World Cup final.Firstly the hotel was a one and a half hour metro ride from the stadium ,secondly my category one seats were well behind the touch line in the corner resulting in us having to watch most of the play on the big screen. Finally I bought these tickets in early 2021 when I didn’t know their face value. It turns out they were £900 each and the total hotel charge was approx £1100 giving a total of £4700 .I am all for making a profit but a profit of over £4800 is extortionate .
I certainly will not use this company again and suggest others do likewise
I expect all I will receive is a copy and paste reply like the one they have sent to me when I previously emailed them

Hi Barry,

Thank you for your review, and I am disappointed to see you left us 1*. To provide some more insight into our commercial make-up of the product, we do not base our brand and pricing on the face value of match tickets and hotel costs which are found in online search engines or comparison sites. The pricing is composed of other additional elements including; a ticket license fee per each individual ticket, a 24hr duty office team who are available around the clock, a dedicated Contact Centre Team, a official RWC23 supporter pack and we procured hotels well in advance of going on sale, so the cost of hotel property at that time will have been different to what you can find online independently.

We have a dedicated Customer Feedback Team who will handle your complaint appropriately.

Please send us an email to customer.feedback@sportsbreaks.com and one of the team will respond accordingly, and will investigate your complaint independently.

Many thanks

When Category 1 tickets turn out to be Cat 2 or 3

In Feb 2023, I bought 2 Cat 1 seats (supposedly the best & certainly the most expensive) for the semi-final game of the World Cup Rugby in Paris. I expected these Category 1 seats to be somewhere in the middle of the field. When I received the tickets on Oct 16 2023, & checked out the seats on the web site of Stade de France, I saw they were bottom corner of the stadium, well behind the try line, in second tier, 51 rows up. When I questioned Sportsbreaks, this was their explanation:
“All ticket locations are dictated to us & all the official Online Travel Agencies by the event organisers, namely Group Couleur, & the France 2023 Organising Committee. We have no jurisdiction in terms of location beyond the category of ticket.
The event organisers have had several issues in relation to ticket locations, & are mindful of the issues it’s causing official travel agencies & subsequently their valued customers, but they do reserve the right to modify categories depending on the matches & the stadiums & have indicated that an allocation of official hospitality guests for France 2023, can have an impact & may mean categories 1 & 2 can be modified for some matches. Unfortunately, this is something we, as Sportsbreaks, or any other online travel agency, have no control over.”
To be honest, there marketing blurb did say they “could not allocate tickets until several days before the game” (so there is a certain amount of trust here). But we are not currently being offered any money back or improved seating.
I suggest Sportsbreaks discuss this issue internally & put more detail of the actual distribution/sale of tickets to 3rd parties like SportsBreaks, so buyers like us better understand that our seats can get downgraded even though we still pay for a Cat 1 tickets! It’s obfuscation all round otherwise, with the usual finger pointing but at the end of the day it is the clients of SportsBreaks that end up disappointed. Not a god business model!

Hi Nick!

Thank you for your feedback.

I can see one of our Customer Feedback Team is handling your complaint and will be in touch soon, but to be clear, regarding the issue you have faced, alongside some other customers and other tour operators, this is a widespread issue amongst official tour agents.

All ticket locations are dictated to us and all the official Online Travel Agencies by the event organisers, namely Group Couleur, and the France 2023 Organising Committee. We have no jurisdiction in terms of location beyond the category of ticket.

The event organisers have had several issues in relation to ticket locations, and are mindful of the issues it’s causing official travel agencies and subsequently their valued customers, but they do reserve the right to modify categories depending on the matches and the stadiums and have indicated that an allocation of official hospitality guests for France 2023, can have an impact and may mean categories one and two can be modified for some matches. Unfortunately, this is something we, as Sportsbreaks, or any other online travel agency, have no control over.

At this stage, there isn’t anything we can do to change the locations we’ve been given in relation to the tickets but understand your disappointment, and the inconvenience this may cause.

Many thanks

Don't use if travelling with children

This company are not really bothered to book things properly causing difficulty for customers. Spelt name.wrong so hotel spent ages finding booking. Insisted on two separate hotel bookings for us and our children as 2 rooms. As one of these bookings was spelt incorrectly and the bookings weren't linked we were at opposite ends of hotel. We had requested rooms nearby but sports break didn't ask hotel for this. Not ideal and worrying as a parent. Booking directly ourselves would have been so much better and safer.

Fantastic weekend away to see the Monza…

Fantastic weekend away to see the Monza GP. Good communications leading up the event and met by our great tour rep Fabio at the airport and was always on hand to make sure everything went smoothly with hotel check-in, transfers and access to the event.
Really nice hotel choice in Milan with benefit of easy access to the centre of Milan and the train station for adventuring further afield. Only negative is the choice of airline, I know Ryanair are cheap, but unfortunately you really do get what you pay for, with near chaos before the return flight when all the check-in staff went missing. Would happily pay that bit extra to travel with a more reputable airline.
For another European event, I would definitely choose Sportsbreaks again.

Booked a hospitality package with sportsbreak.com

Booked a hospitality package with sportsbreak, Who were recommended by "Everton football club". Due to my partner being admitted to hospital and myself having to care and help we contacted sportsbreak about changing the booking not refunding. The customer representative said they would look into this and speak with a manager and get back to us ASAP. After a few days of no contact on the day of said booking/game, we rang again to be greeted by a customer representative who had no interest in helping and who's manner was completely different to Everton football club. They refused to engage had no apologies for previous contact and a stinking attitude. I hope people don't make the same mistake using this company and Everton FC look into company practice and service to there fans. Finally this company continually goes on about positive reviews on other sites but a complete disregard for the many one star reviews here on the No1 review site....

Hi Damian,

Thanks for your review, and I'm sorry to hear about your experience with us.

Unfortunately, with only a few days to go before the game, we were unable to transfer or cancel your match break. At this stage, all hotel rooming lists have been confirmed and the tickets with the club are also confirmed. We confirm both of these elements at least two weeks before the fixture date. Our cancellation terms and conditions are listed here; https://www.sportsbreaks.com/Terms-and-Conditions/Sportsbreakscom-Terms-and-Conditions-for-Bookings-Made-from-1st-June-2023

As per our booking conditions at the time of checkout, we highly recommend that all passengers on the booking must take out adequate travel insurance to cover such instances if passengers are unable to travel.

We use Feefo because it is a trusted, closed platform where only customers who have transacted with us can leave us genuine reviews, good bad or ugly. We're open and transparent to all feedback and welcome it from all customers to see where we can improve the customer experience in the future.

I am sorry that we were unable to assist you so close to the game but unfortunately it was too late at this stage due to all elements of your booking already being confirmed with our supplier. If you did take out adequate travel insurance as a condition of booking with us, we can supply you with a letter of no-show which will help with your claim.

Please contact our Customer Feedback Team using customer.feedback@sportsbreaks.com if you need more assistance.

Many thanks

Anti-Customer Company

We bought 4 tickets for a Chelsea game, hospitality. For late August. We made our purchase mid-July.

Unfortunately, due a fixture change, we weren't able to attend now, so requested a refund for the tickets. Over 6 weeks before the event.

We thought this was quite a reasonable request, but SportsBreaks did not.

They pointed us to their well-hidden refund policy, which essentially stated we could only have 80% of our booking cost back.

So we only got a refund of £800, from a £1,000 purchase, with this company pocketing the £200 difference.

If it was a week before, or days before, I could understand, but 6 weeks out this is just a terrible way to treat your customers.

Will not be using them again, hope the £200 was worth it.

Edit (response to reply): Your Feefo reviews look very suspicious to me (all one after the other, and just a handful of words with no details, very vague), hence why I've left a genuine review here.

Hi Shaun,

Thank you for your review, and sorry to hear you're disappointed with our cancellation terms and conditions. When you made the booking, at the checkout process, there is a link and check-box to our terms and conditions, which customers must agree to before entering into a contract with us and processing the booking. These details

At the time of your requested cancellation, the cancellation charge was £199.20, as per our terms and conditions.

Customers are at the heart of our organisation and we recently received a Gold-Standard Feefo Service award recognising this. I'm sorry you feel different but we must adhere to our booking terms and conditions.

Many thanks

False advertising.

The website showed 3 tickets available when in fact the event was sold out. This is totally unacceptable and false advertising to say there are tickets available when there aren't. I look forward to a response to this.

Abject Customer Care for a Simple Issue

Spent over £1,000 on two tickets for a Premier League game, as well as hotel rooms.

Presented them with a request to change hotel date earlier by one night, no other changes. Had spoken to hotel beforehand to make sure it was possible and they were more than agreeable - they just needed confirmation for Sportsbreaks as they were the organising party.

Sportsbreaks refused to do this as it was within 2-3 days of event (and they would not have enough time!). I had only spoken to Sportsbreak 36 hrs prior that I may possibly need this change and at no time did they say that I would need to let them know much earlier, or a deadline by which time I had to request it.

Furthermore, having been a managing partner in the hotel industry for 10 years (Marriott & Hilton), I know this would easily have been able to be achieved by someone taking the impetus at Sportsbreak, and basically going the extra mile - picking up a phone, talking to a manager at the hotel; basically, taking personal responsibility for a readily resolvable matter.

However, clearly, it’s too much effort for a REPEAT customer that had spent over £1,000, again. You’d expect better customer care given circumstances. It was an easy win to keep a customer keep coming back.

(Instead they asked I email the feedback team! They would have replied after the event passed & have up to 28 days to reply - what would the point be? So they could learn from this experience? I’m not sure at this stage having agents of your company taking personal responsibility for simple customer care matters should really need to be a teaching moment!)

Don’t book with this company as don’t care!!!

Looking forward to attending an EPL game only to test positive for covid 5 days before the game. Contacted this company and not interested as Covid policy no longer applies! Total lack of empathy or understanding pretty much telling me that’s the rules so either travel or find someone else to go!!

Hi Justin,

Thank you for your review, and sorry to hear you are disappointed with sportsbreaks.com.

During the checkout process and as a condition of booking with us, all guests on the booking must have adequate travel insurance should you can no longer attend. In your circumstance, we are able to provide you with a letter of no show once the game has passed which you can provide to your travel insurance company to assist with your claim.

Unfortunately, as per our terms and conditions, cancellation at this stage would be a 100% cancellation cost as we are unable to offer a refund or name change with the game being so close to kick off.

Should you wish to request a letter of no show, please send us an email using hello@sportsbreaks.com or give us a call on (+44) 0333 230 9115 and one of our team will arrange this for you.

Many thanks

Do not use this company. Dreadful

I would not recommend this company. Avoid at all costs. Rip off merchants. Just read all the other reviews. Spend your money elsewhere at a reputable company.
We booked for the Newcastle v Man United game and the fixture date has been changed we can no longer make rearranged date so we’ve just kissed goodbye to £800 as they refuse to help us and said they’d just rearrange the hotel. If they released them tickets they’d sell by the date as we got the last three months ago. But they don’t want the hassle of a resale. Why would they when they can rip us off.
Terrible customer service, they clearly gave no idea how to get future business. we won’t use again and they’d of got two good customers in us.

Hi Heidi,

Thank you for your review, and sorry to hear you are disappointed with sportsbreaks.com.

Fixture changes are common in the Premier League, and we do advise this throughout the booking journey in the 'Important Information' section that games can change due to TV broadcasting therefore it is of paramount insurance that all guests on the booking must have adequate travel insurance should the game be rearranged and you can no longer attend.

Throughout our booking terms and conditions, we do highlight in Section 17 that where a weekend fixture is rescheduled for any reason whatsoever to a different kick-off time on the same weekend, we’ll offer you the option to change the night of your accommodation booking to coincide with the fixture change, subject to availability with no amendment fees. Where a midweek (Monday-Friday) fixture is rescheduled for any reason whatsoever to a different time within 36 hours of the previously confirmed start time then we’ll offer you the option to change the night of your accommodation booking to coincide with the fixture change, subject to availability with no amendment fees. If the price of the new Arrangement is higher, this must be paid by you. If the price of the new Arrangement is lower, we’ll refund you the difference in price. This change doesn’t constitute a Significant Change and no refund will be payable if you cancel your Arrangements.

As the fixture change is within 36hrs for the event you have booked, we have offered to change your night of stay, but we cannot offer a full refund based on our above terms. These were very clear at the time of booking, and the lead passenger will have needed to read and understand our Important Information and Booking Conditions before the payment page.

I can also see that your booking is still live. If you can no longer attend the game, we can also offer a name change, and we can also provide you with a letter of no show which you can provide to your travel insurance company to help with your claim. We are able to provide this once the event has passed. Should you wish to do this, please contact us at hello@sportsbreaks.com or give one of the team a call on 0333 2309 115 between 8.30am - 7.00pm Monday - Friday, or between 8.30am - 6.00pm on Saturday's.

I Booked through sports breaks for the newcastle v brighton game, after the game being moved for the cup final I couldn’t make the re-arranged fixture. It’s now been a month since the promised return of my deposit and still nothing has been returned. After fobbing me off with twice saying they had my wrong bank details I sent them a photo of my account details directly from the bank. Yet again another week has. Gone By with with only contact being Ann automated email which they will replay to within 7 days and they only make bank payments every Friday. No one willing to help resolve this matter and they still have my money over a month after first promised repayment date. Wouldn’t touch them again

Hi Chris,

Thank you for leaving us a review, and sorry to hear you were disappointed with the outcome of your application.

I have found your application for the Borussia Dortmund v Chelsea FC Away Coach Travel, and unfortunately, we were over subscribed and you were not successful in your application for away travel.

I can also confirm we never processed payment as per the away application process, all bookings for European Away Travel are pending only until the club confirm applicants are successful based on their criteria. We would never process payment prior to the selection process.

Hope this explanation helps.

Rangers v celtic

Was debating using sports break with the mixed reviews, but I chanced it for my sons Christmas present for the rangers v celtic match. Sports break did everything they said they would,
Only thing the seating wasn't the best at the match but we were able to see everything which is all we wanted so cant fault it, we had one happy son I'll definitely be using again. Thank you
