We have had an extremely disappointing experience with Stericycle. Despite multiple complaints about missed and incorrectly scheduled medical waste collections, the issues persist.
We specifically requested collections on Mondays or Tuesdays, yet they continued to arrive on Fridays, causing major disruptions. On two occasions, an employee had to interrupt their scheduled day off and rush into the clinic due to an unplanned collection, resulting in unnecessary stress and additional costs.
Communication is poor, and scheduling errors are frequent, making it clear that the company does not honor its own contractual obligations. Despite switching to an ad-hoc service for flexibility, we are still not receiving the service we are paying for.
We have raised these concerns several times, yet there has been no real effort to resolve them. Given the ongoing failures, we are now considering terminating our contract and seeking an alternative provider.
I would not recommend this service to any business that relies on punctual and professional waste collection.

We have used the Shred-it part of Stericycle since February 2024.
Initially, it all started very well...
We found their collection and shredding service efficient and straightforward in the beginning.
Unfortunately, this experience was later completely overshadowed by a serious billing issue. They issued an invoice that was over three times higher than usual, due to what appears to be an administrative error on their end after a shredding collection late last year.
Despite sending numerous emails explaining the issue in detail, the responses have been extremely unhelpful and dismissive — it felt as though our concerns were not taken seriously at all.
Communicating with their customer service team has been frustrating. Replies are generic, often missing the point entirely, and they routinely close support threads after replying, forcing us to restart the conversation from scratch each time.
Overall, the customer service experience has been very poor, and sadly, we’ve decided to close our account and move to another shredding provider.

Whole experience has been troublesome.
The initial set up took around 6 weeks, the person concerned left the company before contract property set up, I had to chase up.
Had threatening emails that my contract was being terminated due to non-payment, the above problem, direct debit payment had not been set up, once sorted multiple payments taken at once, defeats the object of spreading cost.
Delivery of 1st sharps bin did not reach me, delivery driver left on the clinic doorstep, before we were open. Someone took it, we are in a high street location... 2nd one reached me when I requested it to be left with a designated person only.
1st pick up failed, text message from driver late evening before pick up, due on a day I was away from clinic, no replacement offered. No schedule of pick up dates given.
Phoned customer services to request pick up, told it would cost me a further £35 over my contract as an extra pick up... WHAT? Representative refused to give her name for my complaint.
Raised a complaint.
8 days later received a response offering a pickup date. Thank you.
This service needs to be better, my initial impression is very poor.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we needed another clinical waste collection from one of our sites. Spoke to Abigail on the phone and a new collection was arranged for a few days later. No problem, no fuss, all done within 15 minutes. Thanks to Abigail for her great service.

they only have a financial director and guess what he is not based in the uk ,but in America
the highest level person you can speak to in the uK is the head of customer care

they could'nt spell the word if you asked them
after my 7 year long saga putting up with all the blunders of this so called company I left in july 2023.
they kept sending me made up invoices every month after that to the point that on 5th march 2025 i received a threat letter from Flint, the solicitor they are using to enforce payments.
I contacted srcl but guess what they were not going to speak to me , i can only speak to their solicitor
after sending my evidence to the sollicitor firm they closed the case a few days later because stericycle is fraudulently trying to extort money from me .
WHAT A WASTE OF MY PRECIOUS TIME
beware this so called company is a little cheaper than others, but IT IS NOT WORTH IT
ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE ON EVERY LEVEL
including continuous problems with the actual service you are paying for

I wished to arrange a date to exchange my sharps box. Mark was very friendly but professional. He confirmed my details and then explained that he would leave the phone for a few minutes to arrange the date with another department. It was a little complicated because I knew that I would be unavailable for over a week but he soon came back and apologised for the delay and gave me the date. He promised to also E-mail me with the details and this was done very soon after the call.
Thank you to Abigail at the Leeds branch - she helped us to solve an issue that we had and we couldn't be happier with the service.
Quite possibly the worst company I have ever had to deal with.
Fraudulent charges on WTNs, after disputing, sending proof of inaccurate charges and raising a formal complaint in 2022 still no resolution until receiving a solicitor/debt collection this week.
Emails constantly left unanswered and their staff turn around is ridiculous. They apparently do not keep records of previous correspondence, I have had the same conversation with four people in the accounts team, each time having to start the whole complaint from the beginning.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you value your time and sanity

Generally very dependable service, with one or two exceptions, eg the driver claiming he didn’t see my house which, at the time had a Stericycle box fully visible on the step, as well as the house number very clear on the door. But usually reliable and polite.
