String Furniture system broke in less than 3 years – no replacement offered

After less than 3 years of using the system, a side panel gave in, which brought the entire system to fall and damaged 4 side panels and 13 out of 15 shelves. The whole system fell — and almost on my partner.

After one month of back and forth with String Furniture, and after initially insisting on the expiration of the 2 years guarantee, we got their confirmation to help us exceptionally out with a replacement. But 5 days later, they withdrew that with the following argument:

“…Even so it is a miracle that the system didn’t fall sooner, considering it was packed with books…”

So, if you’re looking for a nicely designed short-term object in your flat without using it with books or other daily items, you might be happy. If you’re looking for something that you’ll enjoy for a long time and really use for objects of your choice, we’d recommend looking for another brand — considering String Furniture considers it a miracle that their own product lasted 3 years.

Extremely poor quality for the premium price tag

This company presents itself as a premium brand along with premium prices.

I was shocked to discover that all wood used in the String Shelves Systems are veneered particle board. I appreciate that everything is modular, however, I would have had more flexibility and value for money if I had shopped at IKEA.

It was also the case that a considerable number of items i received had chipped veneer. Again, if I shopped at IKEA I could have swapped items immediately with minimal effort.

Overall I am very disappointed with this purchase - though I am torn as I do like the dimensions and modular nature. I both love and hate this product.

Cheap materials

I would expect such expensive and quality brand to make shelves of wood not veneer. Our shelf got completely damaged after a single hit. This is very cheap to me.
