The transaction fees are really starting to eat into my margins. Support is also much slower than it used to be. Had some issues getting the API to play nicely with my site.

When merely trying to get answers to questions on a chargeback, I have been told by Stripe reps (always located in the Philippines) to drive 3,000 miles to see my customer in person, to wait two months to send my products to my customers, been told "sorry" over a dozen times, and other worthless pieces of advice / information. I asked to speak to a manager multiple times and was hung up on. After a 4th time writing email feedback, I was contacted by a supposed manager via email, who said to provide dates and times to reach out. I provided them and of course he didn't call. I emailed again, saying I didn't hear back and another "manager" called who knew nothing about why I was upset at this point (terrible customer service) but he did tell me sorry another eight times. So I've got a stack of "sorry's" here from Stripe, still haven't been able to speak to anyone competent or anyone in the USA or anyone who can answer anything not on a script. Twice I was told they are reading from a script. They did say they care about their customers though, but they sure as hell do not. I've used this company for 6 years for my online business and couldn't feel less valued. It is not difficult to provide basic level customer service, like calling a customer when you say you will, and Stripe cannot even do that. They definitely will have their overseas phone zombies tell you "sorry" though while they screw you over with chargeback fees. I'd be willing to bet another $15 chargeback fee that they respond to this by saying they are sorry and to contact again to get more information. None of my frustration at this point is even over the BS chargeback fees that they steal from their customers, I'm beyond frustrated at the inability to talk to someone competent. Awful company. Would recommend any other payment processor but them. I am switching to another one.

I cannot believe what’s happening with Stripe. They’ve closed my account after all my customer orders have been delivered with proof of tracking and proof of delivery. I’ve put everything into this business every single penny of savings, and I even quit a good-paying job to pursue this. Now, I can’t even run my business. Stripe has decided to withhold my hard-earned money for no legitimate reason. I’ve followed all procedures, provided all required documents, and still, they’re threatening to refund customers, meaning I’ll lose my products and the money I’m owed. My customers will get their expensive furniture for free.
This has caused unimaginable stress and severe toll on my mental health. I have children to feed, bills to pay, and I’ve poured my heart into this. I will be taking legal action to get what’s rightfully mine. Stay far away from Stripe if you value your business. This company has shown no respect for hard-working business owners. It’s a scam.

I am almost forced to use stripe for my ecommerce, there are not many alternatives.
Once a person used a stolen credit card, the money was returned to the owner of the card thanks to the intervention of the bank, obviously I had already sent the products, the customer kept them!!!!
Another time, another customer receives the products, says she does not want them anymore, I say ok return them to me and I will refund you, there is a 30 day guarantee. Instead she goes to the bank says she has not received anything and the bank returns the money!! I sent STRIPE proof of delivery, courier document and also a message from the customer who said she had received them!!!

I had my account for 1.5 months and I have couple of transactions. Each transaction is about 1K and some small subscriptions. All the sudden, I received the message from stripe that they want to closed my account. I don’t have any charge back and every thing is verified.
They have the right to close my accounts. However, they will refund to all customers. This is nightmare. We had shipped all the products to customers with proof. However, they declined to give us the money back. This is a robbery.

As a long-time Stripe user, I’m extremely disappointed in how Stripe handles disputes, especially when customers clearly abuse the chargeback process.
A customer of mine used my service for over six months, acknowledged the no-refund policy, and after being denied a refund, filed a chargeback claiming the product was “not as expected.” I submitted copious amounts of evidence, including proof of use, agreement to terms, and prior communication, yet Stripe pulled the funds and left me covering the cost and fees (>$150).
Despite having done everything right as a business owner, Stripe washed their hands of the situation and repeatedly told me, “We’re just the processor, it’s the bank’s decision.” That might be technically true, but it also means Stripe takes no responsibility when the process is abused.
Their support team was responsive but ultimately unhelpful. There was no escalation, no merchant side advocacy, and no accountability for customers who file false disputes. Even worse, Stripe still charges you fees for the dispute even if you win.
If you’re a business that sells digital products or subscriptions, understand that Stripe will not protect you. They are more concerned about compliance with card networks than supporting the businesses that actually pay to use their platform.
After this experience, I see why Stripe's rating is two stars. They don't advocate for ethical business owners, they kick the can down the road and know the only thing you can do is find a new payment processor.

I applied for a Stripe business account for my UK-based kitchen products website (Subzoner.com). Within 5 minutes—no verification, no transaction, no warning—my account was closed. I provided all correct details and have a legitimate business. Stripe’s lack of transparency and refusal to support new ventures is shocking. How can they judge an account without even reviewing it?
This experience has made me lose trust in Stripe. I hope more payment processors emerge to compete with such unfair practices. Startups, beware!
Key Points to Reinforce:
Highlight the abruptness (5 minutes, no verification).
Emphasize legitimacy (UK company, real website, compliant products).
Criticize the process (no appeal, no clarification).
Suggest consequences (driving users to competitors).

I am reaching out to appeal the recent restriction on my account after submitting the requested documentation. I have already provided proof of stock, invoices, and shipping details for all my products. Additionally, the tracking information confirms that buyers have successfully received their orders, and you may verify this directly with the shipping carriers.
I kindly request a re-review of my case, as my business operates transparently and in full compliance with Stripe’s policies. Please let me know if any additional information is required to resolve this matter.
Looking forward to your response.

this company act as kids, the worst customer service ever seen, a loop of automated e-mails. a maze with a group of ai bots. the drama started since day one, they blocked my first transaction from a customer i knew for 9 months, second transaction was blocked too ! all this drama because a multimillionaire company thinks 260 euro is a high risk transaction for a new account !! noooo disputes from the customers , Visa Fraud Monitoring Programme (VFMP) is in good standing , Visa Dispute Monitoring Programme (VDMP) is too showing in good standing... they asked me once again for supporting documents, then they decided later to jump to another direction, they accused me for receiving payment without customer's consent, i debunked their stupid accusations with a long e-mail, attached more than 11 videos, more than 30 screenshots from my loyal customers chat history, a history of 9 months....i told them my customers are ready to take videos with their used cards to support my case,,, instead of admitting and apologizing for the false accusations, and for the bad customer service. Stripe acted once again as a child, and moved backward to the supported documents. i attached my ein, i attached my llc,i gave my shipping tracks of the bulks, and the shipping tracks of the purchased orders, i showed them the customer invoice with the exact products from our 9 months chat history... i showed them the customers were happy with their orders, even mentioned me on their stories... i'm ready to take live videos of the same stock i still have some of the inventory with me...but it will not add anything, because stripe is not for small businesses. read the horrible reviews about them, go and check their social media comment sections,,,they hide that section from all their social media... for one reason, their service sucks, they have the most retarded customer service ever seen. each team has his own ready made scenario, and ready made automated e-mails...
N.B: about the blocked transactions from stripe, the customers paid me easily using alternative payment ways, without any problems.( i attached the transaction receipts ) the problem was from stripe's system, and the first agent admitted, and offered to validate the transaction manually, but he transferred me to another support team, who must be called "Idiocracy" Movie... just watch it and you will get an idea about stripe and its customer service. stay away, run away, ruuuuuuun and don't look back. and read their link to Israel money laundering, and funding genocides.
Second time: My business was exposed to a scammer
I already did a report on Stripe's performance on the 22nd of February. Since then I have not received any response from Stripe, but last week I received 4 more refund requests for digital goods already delivered. And the decision on whether or not a product has been delivered or not is made by ... scammer's bank!
The argument is “CARDHOLDER DID NOT AUTHORISE TRANSACTION”. That is, I receive a message about the receipt of money, I make the delivery and then the fraudster claims that he did not make the payment! Stripe sends a solution to the concerned bank instead of sorting out the situation.
I ask Stripe to look into the problem and stand up for me. Please post the date of the reply here as I am preparing for a lawsuit against Stripe.

Shopping around, I have a few websites that require differnet payment systems for consulting services, marketing etc. I started with Stripe. Along with POS and Inv management and apps, it seemed ideal for expansion later on.
They were quick to get my stuff started for the consulting, but as we started to build the banking/finance side for another project *consumer banking*. Stripe claims to be a Banking as a Service, they promote it all over the place to have this product. I have spoke to sales 3 times, each time it's someone who doesn't speak english and has no idea what Banking software is. It's like they boasted all the marketing for this service, but if you request the information or try to get signed up, they will auto deny. I have sent over several emails from various domains and IP's, trying to figure out why they aren't answering. It's all the same. They literally auto deny any access applications for most of their business tools. So I can't expand or use anything.
I switched everything back over to paypal. I agree with others, avoid. They have no live support or actual techs that have knowledge of how their products work.
UPDATE::
The reply from Stripe shows the complete lack of awareness of the issue and a typical copy paste job.
You never saw any of my businesses or discussed any business platform that I have built. I sent an inquiry, nothing on that was any details of the business structure, purpose, or use. So claiming you did so within an hour (for the denial), without ever seeing the LOI's, contractual agreements, or business plans and backing - That's shady..
Bad business ethics and bad faith can be seen at the first moment of contact. The company denied a customer who wanted to inquire on the costs and purchase the product. You denied the ability within an hour, without ever so much as speaking to the customer... That's pure bad business.

Subject: Request to Add Iraq to Stripe Supported Countries
Dear Stripe Team,
I hope you are doing well.
I am reaching out to formally request that you consider adding Iraq to the list of supported countries on Stripe. As one of the most trusted and innovative payment processing platforms, Stripe has revolutionized online transactions globally. However, businesses and entrepreneurs in Iraq currently face significant challenges due to the inability to access your services.
There is a growing demand in Iraq for secure and efficient online payment solutions. Many startups, freelancers, and businesses rely on international transactions, but they struggle with limited financial infrastructure and a lack of reliable payment gateways. Adding Iraq to Stripe’s supported countries would empower countless individuals and businesses by giving them access to a trusted platform for managing their payments.
By enabling Stripe in Iraq, you would be unlocking opportunities for economic growth, supporting digital entrepreneurs, and expanding access to the global marketplace. We believe that this would not only benefit local businesses but also contribute to Stripe’s mission of powering the internet economy worldwide.
I kindly urge you to take this request into serious consideration. If there are any specific steps or requirements that could help facilitate this process, please let us know. We hope to see Iraq added to Stripe’s supported countries in the near future.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,

If you want to avoid losing money, stay far away from Stripe. This company is nothing but a scam. They will suspend your account for no reason and steal your funds.
My company recently started using Stripe, and things were fine at first, until it came time for our first payout. They suddenly requested a ridiculous amount of documents for verification—company details, address, bank account information, and more. Despite submitting everything they asked for, they decided to freeze our account with the funds still in it, claiming we had a "dispute." This is an outright lie. We have no disputes whatsoever, because we’ve delivered our products to all clients as agreed.
Now, they're holding our hard-earned money hostage. They claimed they'd return any disputed funds to the card, but have stated they won’t release any remaining balance in the account. The problem is, there’s no dispute at all. We’ve fulfilled our orders, and Stripe is refusing to release our funds based on false pretenses.
We’ve tried reaching out, but all we get are automated messages. It's impossible to get any real support. How are we supposed to continue our business when Stripe is withholding money that is rightfully ours?
Do yourself a favor and avoid Stripe. They don’t care about your business or your funds.

Stripe has been an absolute game-changer for my online digital business. As a startup, managing payments was always a concern, but Stripe has made it incredibly easy to integrate and use. The platform is straightforward, and their support team is top-notch—they’ve been quick to respond and always helpful whenever I have a question. I love how Stripe streamlines payments, making it simple to accept transactions globally. It has truly eased my payment processing, allowing me to focus more on growing my business. I highly recommend Stripe for anyone looking to start or scale their online business!

have been a customer of Stripe for a significant period, and I’m deeply disappointed by the way they’ve handled my account and reserve situation. For over 90 days, a substantial amount of $64,000 has been held in reserve, and despite meeting all requirements and delivering products to my customers, they have extended the hold for an additional 90 days, without valid justification.
Despite providing proof of delivery, customer communications, invoices, and reviews, Stripe refuses to release even a portion of the funds. This has severely impacted my business’s ability to operate, and the decision to extend the reserve hold without any valid reason has put us in a very precarious situation.
I understand that chargebacks and disputes are part of business, but the overzealous hold on funds from completed transactions is not only unreasonable but harmful to legitimate businesses like mine. We’ve complied with all Stripe’s requests, and yet, we are still being punished for issues that are out of our control.
Now, after the closure of my account, Stripe’s refusal to release my funds is putting my business at risk of collapse. They claim to care about customers, but their actions do not reflect this commitment. The support team is unhelpful, and we have been left without any viable solution.
If you are a business owner, I strongly advise you to carefully consider other payment processors before committing to Stripe. Their policies and approach to reserve holds are completely unreasonable and unfair, especially when dealing with transactions that have already been completed and delivered. This situation has been a nightmare, and we are forced to consider legal action to recover the funds that rightfully belong to us.
I would not recommend Stripe to any business owner seeking a reliable, fair, and trustworthy payment processor.

I signed up for Stripe to process payments for my business, RKMB Design, where I sell WordPress design templates. Shortly after starting, Stripe suspended my account without any clear reason. When I reached out, they simply stated that my business was "high risk," even though I was only selling digital design templates.
After two months with no disputes or chargebacks from my clients, I contacted them again, and they reactivated my account. However, after processing just three payments, they suspended my account once more, using the same vague "high risk" excuse.
If selling design templates is not allowed under your policies, this should be clearly stated in the FAQ. Instead of arbitrarily blocking businesses, Stripe should evaluate transactions properly or at least check whether customers are satisfied with the service. On top of that, they also blocked my funds, causing unnecessary financial strain.
Stripe's lack of transparency and poor handling of legitimate businesses make them highly unreliable. I do not recommend them to anyone who wants a stable and fair payment processor.

I have never been this angry and frustrated with a service provider in my life. Stripe just closed my account after receiving funds from long-term, loyal customers, with 3D authentication enabled on all transactions. Everything was above board, and I followed all their guidelines. But apparently, my business is now considered "high risk"?! I run a digital marketing service, which is absolutely a legitimate business, but apparently, Stripe doesn’t care about that. They just shut down my account without any explanation and left me hanging, completely disrupting my ability to operate!
Their so-called "customer service" is a joke. I’ve tried to get in touch, but it’s as if they don't care about existing customers. I’ve been loyal to them, and this is the thanks I get? It’s completely absurd that they’re closing accounts for long-standing businesses with zero warning or valid reason. I honestly don’t know who they’re actually willing to work with if they can’t even support a business that’s been running without any issues for YEARS.
This is a warning to anyone thinking of using Stripe: Stay far away. They don’t value their customers, and they don’t hesitate to ruin your business with no explanation. Their service is unreliable, and they have no problem shutting you down whenever they feel like it, even if you’re following all the rules. They are nothing but a frustrating, unprofessional, and untrustworthy company. Look elsewhere!

Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, an electronic Money Institution regulated in Ireland under the CBI Banc Ceannais na hÉireann pose as a legit payments platform but they authorise VISA payments to just about anyone who is willing for pay them a few dollars, with virtually no due diligence, nor checks of their legal validity or commercial registrations.
Recently I got scammed by a fraudulent retail website during Black Friday (accurately cloning a major well known brand), and I got charged on my VISA, with legit verification methods, seemingly via Stripe.com.
As soon as I completed the payment, a dazzling sequence of false signals followed - really well orchestrated by the fraudulent gangsters (my order was confirmed by entirely random network of new and unheard of domains such as longrDOTcom, etc, false customers service emails, false tracking numbers, false delivery notifications from China), but... in reality nothing was delivered to me.
When my bank contested the fraudulent charge, Stripe.com rejected the refund, because, in their words, I paid and I received the products or service.
Even in their own documentation STRIPE provided vendor website domain names that don't open, are illicit, and blocked for breaking standard security protocols...
Pathetic for a company of such calibre to be complicit with the thieves.
Despite the strong and clear evidence that their "partners" were fraudulent gangsters, Stripe chose to insist that the transaction and payment were 100% legit.
