The same thing happened to me as James! I Am here because i was searching online for answers about my situation and realized I’m not alone.
Stripe locked my account and took over 10,000 AED of my funds, also issuing refunds to all my customers since I created the account. Now, I can’t recover the time or products I lost to those customers.
With no phone support, it’s incredibly frustrating to wait for email replies, which often feel robotic and unhelpful.
I still don’t know the reason behind this.
Never again.

Yes, I still have concerns. It's surprising how quickly you responded here compared to email. If you put as much effort into providing good service as you do responding to bad reviews, you wouldn’t have these reviews in the first place!
I've already sent several emails and am still waiting for a proper response.
After seeing what’s happening here, it’s clear there’s a problem with how you handle money. Acting like you care here doesn’t help.

Back in the summer of 2024, STRIPE blocked our company account because someone tried to pay with a stolen card. But it wasn't our fault, and our disappointment knew no bounds.
And so, over time, I decided to write to STRIPE on their Facebook page and explained the situation in more detail, told them about my business. Almost immediately, I got a response from STRIPE support and they began to re-check my business and a miracle happened!!! Our account was unblocked, customers are happy, our products started to sell better!
If you are blocked and you realize that you are doing business honestly, do not despair, write to STRIPE, explain the details, they will definitely listen to you and give you another chance!
Thank you, STRIPE, you are the best!

Stripe provides deceptive and misleading information about its products including fees, RADAR, DIsputes and Chargeback protection.
On Jan 2, I messaged Stripe about a service they offered. I asked how to enroll. The representative intentionally provided false facts about the service which resulted in adverse actions. When I raised the concerns about the misleading information, Stripe refused to allow me to speak with anyone there and after a week and hours of abuse, I filed a BBB complaint to which they replied that they will not address anything that happened. Stripe intentionally engages in deceptive acts.
After I confronted the rep for providing false information multiple times, she refused to help me and left me on chat. I was there for one hour and 1 minute. I ended the chat.
The misinformation and lies by customer service reps have happened more than once, so I decided to request a supervisor call so I could share my experience in being a customer who is often lied to intentionally because its easier than stripe reps researching and answering questions.
Then, when Ann refused to have a supervisor call me, I had to open a ticket.
The abuse then began. Stripe reps kept closing my ticket...The ticket was " Have a supervisor call me"
A supervisor did not call me.
But they closed the ticket.
Over and over. No one called me but my ticket was closed.
They did this so they didn't have to deal with the issue.
Then, when I confronted the stripe representatives for closing tickets and preventing me from reopening them, they replied with responses that made absolutely no sense, simply so they could make it look like the ticket was being worked.
Such as "We understand you want a call from a supervisor and we'd like to help. Waiting on your reply"
This was so they could document on the ticket and put it back to an actionable required by the customer. In other words, so they didn't have to work it and didn't get in trouble for not working it.
This went on for days. and days. and days.
No call, nothing.
It's outrageous.
Then, on January 8 at 5:08 pm ET they said they called me, but that was false. I responded in less than a minute asking for a call, I provided my phone number. Then I opened a chat at 5:16pm ET with a request for a call, and they left me there for 2 hours and 5 minutes and never called.
I was later informed they were 'calling the wrong number' and to that I say HOW???....I provided my number multiple times which is evident in my screenshots and tickets. My phone number is on my account, the ticket had it and it was on the email threads ad nauseam. It was another game.
They played that game for two hours and five minutes via an open chat window that literally could not be closed.
I could not close it and re-request. Stripe just left me there and kept saying you'd call in three minutes. It was honestly maddening.
I sent in multiple screenshots during the 2 hours and five minutes to document it. It was not extended wait times, Stripe reps were refusing me access to customer service to address ongoing issues of Stripe representatives providing misleading information about products including fees, RADAR, DIsputes and Chargeback protection.
These were intentional deceptive acts and punitive made by Stripe employees and Stripe refuses to address the matter.
So why do you offer options like "Food," "Restaurant," "Digital," etc., when registering on your website, if you consider these activities to be risky? By this logic, restaurants are dangerous, clothing is dangerous, and digital products are dangerous. It seems you are only trying to profit as much as possible from account seizures. Let me also remind you of the lawsuits filed against you in the U.S., the most recent of which cost you a significant budget. Don’t let people unite against you; there are many law firms waiting to take action against you.

This is my first review here on TrustPilot. I am obsessed with Stripe. How every single thing is so easy. So polished. So good? I recently started using the invoicing feature. In my country, there are like 100 products for invoicing. But guess what? Stripe did it better.

I strongly advice against using stripe,
I opened my company Fireview a few years ago which specializes in Digital marketing services such as mail marketing etc.
As soon as we started getting more and more clients and gettings our feet wet stripe decided that our business is FRAUDULENT, our dispute rate is 0 % which is lower than average.
Their support is FULL ON AI, don't expect a human to answer your emails and they don't answer CALLS so you're better off just not using STRIPE at all

I’ve been working in the digital space for over 15 years, and my experience with Stripe has been incredibly disappointing. After providing all the necessary documents for my business, my account was suspended without a clear explanation. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, Stripe closed my account and withheld my funds.
This not only caused financial loss for me but also left me unable to process refunds for my customers, damaging my business's reputation. The lack of transparency and support was extremely frustrating. I would not recommend Stripe to anyone looking for a reliable payment processor.

Subject: Unjustified Account Closure by Stripe
A Disappointing Experience**
We are writing to express our deep dissatisfaction with Stripe’s decision to close our account from receiving payments without providing a clear and justified reason. As a platform that promotes transparency and trust in its services, Stripe has failed to live up to its reputation by handling this situation in an opaque and unprofessional manner.
First and foremost, the absence of an explanation for the account closure is not only frustrating but also highly concerning. As a business that relies on Stripe for payment processing, we expected clear communication outlining the reasoning behind such a decision. Instead, we were left in the dark with no specific details or evidence to suggest that any breach of terms occurred. This lack of clarity has created unnecessary confusion and disruption to our operations.
Furthermore, the abruptness of the account termination without prior warning or opportunity to resolve any potential issues is alarming. Given the significance of payment platforms in today’s digital economy, customers deserve better treatment—especially when it comes to the security of their accounts and funds. Stripe’s failure to engage with us in a fair and respectful manner violates the basic principle of customer service, which should prioritize problem-solving over arbitrary actions.
The impact of this decision goes beyond the inconvenience it caused. The sudden disruption of our payment processing capabilities left our business vulnerable, with customers unable to make payments for an extended period. This has hurt our revenue stream and damaged the trust our customers place in us. As a company, we pride ourselves on maintaining strong relationships with our clients, but Stripe’s failure to give us the chance to address any concerns has severely undermined that trust.
Moreover, Stripe's lack of proactive support or a direct contact point to help resolve the matter further highlights the company’s disregard for its users. A more customer-centric approach, with proactive outreach and guidance, could have gone a long way in maintaining a positive business relationship.
In summary, Stripe’s handling of this account closure has been disappointing, lacking both transparency and communication. We hope that Stripe will reconsider its approach and adopt better practices to ensure that businesses are not left vulnerable or unfairly penalized without clear and reasonable justification.
We expect a more accountable and customer-friendly response in the future, as this experience has certainly damaged our confidence in Stripe’s ability to be a reliable partner for businesses.

more and more bad support. They aren't paying us and not refunding our customer who purchased a 3.5 thousand dollar computer from us. They claimed the reason for our ban was "payments on our account that weren't authorized by customer", which is false I provided evidence from customer who posted about their order on instagram, and I even had to personally dm them about how stripe isn't going to refund them and is instead keeping the money. Stripe also confirmed in a phone support chat that there is no dispute nor has ever been a dispute by a bank/person on our account.
I supplied images of the buyer posting on their insta story about the purchase, and dms regarding the customization of their order all from their personal instagram so it's an utter lie that support is claiming that it was an unauthorized purchase.
We sell gaming PCs not drugs, we do not dropship retail other peoples products, we have contacts listed, support numbers, business addresses, tos, and return policy yet stripe screwed me and my customer.
screw stripe and screw their support

Our business has been using stripe for over 7 years now and every time we need their help or support (which has been two or three times over the 7 years) they always fall short. Phone calls, emails via the support chat all go answered for days. Currently I am having this issue and we are on day 4 now and I have had no reply, response etc to assist with my verification issue. Does it really take this long? They keep asking the same thing when I have told them over and over again that I cannot supply that document, they ask me to supply a different document, which I have numerous times and then silence, it was in review and one point then nothing... my customers are trying to purchase my products and services but cannot because stripe have now blocked payments and pay outs. I have logged a complaint, have issued numerous support tickets all to no avail. Honestly, three of four times within 7 years I need their help and they disappoint with unacceptable customer service.
Response to Stripe reply:
It is not the verification process that I am cofused about it is that noone there is listening to my issue. When you did listen when I first emailed 4 days ago, you told me the process and I sent you the documentation almost immediately. Now I have not heard from anyone for 4 days bordering 5 days and no reply, no response and no help. Is THAT your service expectation? I have two open service tickets and one complaint and funnily enough you replied to this public review faster than any response I have had from your service team in the past 4 days. I am at my witts end with you and just want to stripe you off the record!

We got approval, card payments were working for 1,5 months. Then suddenly our account was closed without explanation and gave 7 days for us to go away. Just WHAT? WHY? How you can make such decisions?
After a lot of attempts to get an explanation for 1 month, they told us we sell tactical knives and it is prohibited in their rules. (why it was not a problem in the onboarding - unclear. We littery mentioned during onboarding that we are workwear and tactical store).
It is fun, but their rules nothing says about knives only unclear mention of "prohibited items". What prohibited items? Who decides what products are prohibited? Why do products become prohibited after you are onboarded?!
This is so embarrassing! When did knives become so dangerous?? Many stores sell knives in grocery stores to kids for students in college under 18 years old - why this is not prohibited???. Also, grocery stores sell matches - by your logic, this is also dangerous?
Why other companies can sell even real guns and swords with Stripe and they have no problems?! I mean my competitors. When I told them about this to Stripe, they did NOTHING and didn't give me an explanation.
Our store even has 18+ checks before handling orders to clients by courier. Stripe also does not care about it.... We even have a letter from the police who says that our store is fine with a law....
And I cannot do anything as in my country all companies who offer card payments are using Stripe solutions. Many business struggles with strange laws..

I chose stripe because I’m an artist and I liked their fraud detection services which protects sellers from fraud even happening reducing chargebacks. I’ve been in business for 2 months generating 5,000 in sales.
No chargebacks. No disputes nothing! Orders have tracking numbers and the ones to don’t it’s because they paid a 50% deposit and have a balance.
Someone tried to use another persons card stripe blocked it thankfully and then asked me to identify myself and submit bank statements. Which I did they opened payouts. Today I get an email that they are closing my accounts indefinitely and refunding clients their money for products they already have.
I responded asking why offer the service then punish the seller for it and that I would contact the bbb. I get a response that they will review it with their team. I mean seriously not one single dispute! How do I know they aren’t just keeping the money? Plus clients don’t have to pay me back if the processor refunds them. So I’m basically left out with the typical oh well sorry. I could see if the money hit my account or something but no it was blocked by your technology and now I’m the one being punished vs blocking their up address or something like that. Or on a hey watch out someone tried this but we caught it you know like it makes no sense just disheartening especially right before Christmas.

Update since response:
POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS BEWARE! Don't be fooled by this auto-response! Our organization has digital proof we have communicated extensively with a virtual "agent". We followed all suggestions through their help desk - even created tickets to have someone contact us back and this company still will not provide (in direct messaging) a telephone number or email address to escalate our case. Shame on you Stripe! We are reporting you to authorities!
SCAM!! THEY NEED TO BE REPORTED TO THE RCMP.
Our company was recently asked by Stripe to submit business documents to verify the legitimacy of our operations. After complying with their request, Stripe concluded that our business is “high risk” and has decided to terminate our payment processing services.
Our company maintains seven separate accounts with Stripe. Of these, four have been cancelled, while the remaining three remain in good standing—despite all accounts representing the same business operation.
As part of this termination, Stripe has withheld more than $14,000 of our funds for 120 days and has yet to release the amount into our bank account.
Customer support has been nonexistent throughout this process. Stripe does not provide a customer support phone number or email address. When attempting to resolve this through their virtual support team, we were denied access to management contact information and the legal department's details.
Proceed with caution when using Stripe for your business.

Starting up with Stripe was easy and took my first card payment within two minutes. Stripe is great if you are a small trader and just selling from home via the web and not VAT registered. It also helps if you products are standard. If every transaction is different and you are UK VAT doing business to business services then it becomes very complicated.

I am absolutely furious with Stripe right now. I’ve done everything by the book—provided all required documents, followed their policies to the letter, and operated my business honestly. Yet, my account has been suspended without any reasonable explanation. I have not engaged in any fraudulent activity, so this suspension makes no sense.
The worst part? I now have money from customers who purchased products from my website, and Stripe is not allowing me to withdraw those funds. To make matters worse, I can’t even refund my customers for their purchases. This is causing severe issues for my business, and more importantly, it’s leaving my customers in limbo. I cannot access the money I’ve earned, and my customers are left without their products or the ability to get their refunds.
I’ve reached out to Stripe multiple times for clarification, but the lack of communication is absolutely unacceptable. No one is giving me a clear reason for the suspension, and no one is offering a solution. All I get is silence and a growing sense of frustration as my business suffers.
If you’re considering Stripe, I strongly advise you to think twice. They’ve shown a complete lack of professionalism, and their support is nonexistent. This experience has been a nightmare, and I’m left wondering how many other legitimate businesses are being treated this way.

I found a company to epg ready and got subscription. website using stripe as payment system. so I paid by trusting stripe. after I paid, I opened my panel to get the product. the digital product given to me is not working. so I contacted support. no respond. 1 day later no respond. I found a way contact to company. they answered but they were asking my credit card details, I didn't give any details, and they stopped talking to me. I tried to message them for a week, no respond and digital service still not working. I contacted to stripe and told this situation. they said they cant do anything for me. this scammer company will use stripe and charge me every month, and I cant do anything for this, apart from cancelling my card.
when companies add theirselves to stripe, they have to have some standards, like let client to cancel, autopayment, manual payment, ...etc
However not at all...

They spent 2 seconds reviewing my account and insisted I was in violation for selling digital marketing products/courses. Called it "get rich quick" while thousands of other people sell that EXACT same thing THROUGH STRIPE. For over a week I've been emailing back and forth with nearly a dozen reps over and there's still no resolution. Discriminatory garbage.

We had a few successful transactions, but then we encountered significant issues. Stripe inexplicably began blocking payments from South America, which severely impacted our sales. Despite reaching out to their support team, instead of resolving the issue, they ended up blocking my entire account without any valid explanation. Their response to my inquiries was unhelpful and dismissive, leaving me feeling stranded and unsupported.
Additionally, their lack of payment options contributed to lost sales opportunities, as many potential customers were unable to use their preferred payment methods. This has not only hurt our business but also frustrated our customers, many of whom expressed interest in our products but were unable to complete their purchases.
Overall, my experience with Stripe has been extremely disappointing. I expected a reliable service, but what I received was poor communication and unjustified account restrictions. I would not recommend Stripe to anyone looking for a trustworthy payment processing solution.

Imagine waking up in the morning, thinking your business is thriving after around 3 months of using stripe, only to find out Stripe has shut you down. No warning, no explanation. Just gone. huge payments are frozen, your customers will be refunded after you payed for orders and shipped the products, causing you insane loss, and you're left standing in the wreckage of what was once your business. This is the nightmare they created for me. One moment, you’re succeeding, growing your business, and the next, Stripe punishes you for it.
I thought I could fix this. I gathered all the documents they requested for their "extra review," with very little hope. I knew what was coming because I’ve seen it happen to so many others in the same business. Of course, it was rejected. Just like my friends in the same industry, all running legit businesses with dispute rates as low as 0.13%! Yet, they call us “high risk” without any clear reason and shut us down. It's a pattern—Stripe does this over and over.
Let me make this clear: If you’re in the e-commerce space, selling clothing items like i am, I beg you, listen to me—don’t use Stripe. You may think, "It won’t happen to me, I’m doing everything right, I run a clean, legal business." You may think you're special, that somehow you’ll be the one to make it through without being blocked, without having your money stolen. You won’t. They’ll do it to you, too. They’ll shut you down, take your funds, and leave you in a worse condition then you had before using them.
We’re not talking about sketchy businesses here—we are running legitimate operations, with incredibly low dispute rates. But Stripe doesn’t care. They’ll label you “high risk” the moment you start scaling, and destroy everything you’ve built.
Their customer service? A joke. Automated responses, no answers, no accountability. You’re left in the dark, with your business in ruins, while they hide behind their policies and hold your money. They don’t care if you’re compliant, if you’ve done everything by the book—they will still shut you down when they feel like it.
If you’re thinking about using Stripe, don’t. Whatever you think will protect you, it won’t. They will destroy your business, just like they’ve done to me and countless others. Stay away, find another payment processor, there are many who are so much better. because Stripe will leave you with nothing but a broken business.
Avoid Stripe at all costs. They are a disaster waiting to happen for anyone in e-commerce. Don’t let them do to you what they’ve done to me. dont say you did not got a warning before, here is your warning.
