Please don't waste your time and money

I feel bad for sharing the negative review but to be honest stripe is not supporting their customers.
I sign up for Stripe and my account got approved. After that I did some small transection ( from my personal account) for test purpose to check whether account is working smoothly or not. And in products category I mentioned that it's a test transection. But now stripe deactivate my account and even not issuing my fund. I tried to contact but waste. They are saying that ''We recently identified payments on your Stripe account for .... LLC that don't appear to have been authorized by the customer, meaning that the owner of the card or bank account didn't consent to these payments.''
I'm the owner of the card and account and I have authorized it. I can provide all relevant documents but they are not hearing me.

Stripe's Payment Failures Are Crippling Small Businesses - incredibly high Failed Payments Rates

I am absolutely unhappy with the Stripe payment system. As a course creator using both Thinkific and Mighty Networks, where the common denominator was the Stripe payment system, the majority of my payments would fail.

When I started to investigate this, I asked Stripe repeatedly why they labeled so many user payments as failed. Their response was to suggest I contact my customers and ask them to get their banks to allow the payments. When I inquired whether this was related to the acceptance rate and how it was possible that so many payments were failing, they would offer the same excuses. They cited privacy concerns or asked for extra money to access features that would inform me about the acceptance rate. Their typical response included blaming incorrect credit card details or blocked cards.

Long story short, for months now, Stripe has been hurting my business by not accepting payments. I've read numerous reviews and heard from many other small businesses experiencing the same issue with Stripe.

The question is, why would Stripe do this specifically to small businesses? Why would a company not investigate the acceptance rate of a business or the reasons behind the failed payments? Why would they recommend businesses to ask their customers to contact their banks to allow the payments? This approach does not make sense. Businesses should not have to ask a ton of customers to get their banks to accept payments. Stripe should be facilitating these payments if they have verified the business and know it is legitimate. If the customer is not using a valid card, Stripe should not allow the customer to attempt the payment in the first place.

From what I'm seeing, imo Stripe is hiding information and not solving the problem. This is hurting my business and damaging its reputation because customers are unable to buy the products they want to pay for. Stripe seems to be asking for more money to provide information about acceptance rates and other metrics, which feels like an artificial hurdle designed to hurt small businesses.

In conclusion, I strongly advise against using Stripe. Their lack of transparency and support is detrimental to small businesses.

I wish I could give them a minus five…

I wish I could give them a minus five rating. I have been using Stripe for the past year, and everything was running smoothly. I run an online business offering digital services, with clients primarily from the US and Australia. On June 12th, I received three payments from three different customers. Suddenly, Stripe sent me a notification to update my documents. I provided photo ID, all my company documents, tax returns, and everything else they requested.
However, 45 minutes later, they blocked my account, claiming one of the customers filed a dispute and labeling my account as risky. I called all three customers, and they confirmed that none of them filed any disputes. I have call recordings to prove this, and they are even willing to provide written statements.
I emailed Stripe, but they responded that they couldn't reverse their action and would refund the amount directly to the customers by June 18th, 2024. The very next day, they directly debited my account, taking back the $450 payment I received on June 10th. I waited until June 18th, but none of the refunds were processed.

When I contacted Stripe again, they said the refund would take five more days, but still, nothing was processed. After following up, they mentioned they were looking into my case and issued a refund for one transaction. When I inquired about the remaining refunds, they asked me to wait another 15 working days.
My entire business is shut down because of Stripe, and they are holding my hard-earned money. If they believe the charges are fraudulent, they should refund the amount to the same credit card from which the initial transaction was made so I can ask my customers to pay me again. Now, I have no proof to show my customers to request payment again, and Stripe is holding my funds.
I will never recommend anyone to use Stripe.
Below is my Case reference: 14168500
I am happy to share the screen shot of the conversation that I had with stripe and with my customer on any platform

I am working for a company that is…

I am working for a company that is dealing with electronic products.
At the moment we didnt have a single unhapppy customer untill we tried to switch from ZEN to Stripe.
Zen is amazing , 0 complaints , 0 frozen payments.
As soon as we switch to stripe our very first payment got frozen and our account got frozen as well. It was mid-sized order about 1416 euro.
Its been like one week now , customer is calling every 30 minutes asking for her money , everyone in the company is super fraustrated , the customer is super fraustrated as well. We cannot block the customer because she is right and we can do nothing about it.
Stripe is illegally holding her/our money and is not refunding them back to the customer. We got 10 emails saying 'because you accepted our terms of service all the balance in your account will be held and wont be made available to you or your customers' , our customer is very angry and situation is double knife , if we execute her order we will lose 1416 euro , if we dont execute her order she will keep saying that she will go to the police and she will keep posting bad reviews about us.
Stripe doesnt care they will just try to steal all your money just because they are a very big company and they can do it , we proudly sponsored the weekend of some Stripe CEO on a yaht drinking cocktails with our hard worked money.
This is unacceptable , UK law should do something and block such services out of United Kingdom or Europe in general , stripe is VERY DANGEROUS for people and merchants.

CLOSING ACCOUNTS AND HOLDING MONEY

Stripe closed our account and they are withholding customer payments. We appealed the account closure and sent all necessary documents required. We haven’t had any chargebacks on our account and always complied with all reviews.

Within an hour we received an email saying that there decision is final and our account will remain close; the balance will apparently be refunded/ reversed back to our customers.

After receiving this email, we received another email saying they are still in the middle of reviewing our appeal and let us know shortly. This made the whole thing more confusing considering we have already released the products to the customers for $7500 AUD when they paid the final invoice.

Customer had confirmed that there was no issues from their end and it’s stripe that has an issue.

I have then sent few emails and received no response.

Currently, they are holding all the funds without confirmation that it will be refunded to the customer.

ABSOLUTELY SCAMMERS

ABSOLUTELY SCAMMERS! these guys claim that alllllll my payments are unauthorized by the customers as if i they are made without their consent which is an absolutely false scenario, most of the customers are my friends, i sell period cramps massager for women and i sold all my friends who have girlfriends, then stripe comes and say no all are wrong and we will refund all customers and then they refunded them all, blocked the account and got me in a big loss since i delivered all products. although they asked for my stock images, corp papers, i provided everything, i sent tracking numbers, stock images that i have on hand, emails with customers, chats with them saying i want to place order.... i called stripe hundred times and thousands of emails they say no money back and initiated refunds. i have very big people in the ecommerce industry on tiktok and instagram, now im planning to go viral with this, with all the proof i have i will provide everything and make ton of people stop using stripe. already 3 of my other businesses that i have stripe for the past year i changed them to square payments. STRIPE SCAMMED ME WITH 4.9K$ USD. you did me wrong and you messed up with the wrong network.

Negligence and disregard for their customers.

Hello.
We are a startup - digital webstore selling activation keys for games for Steam, EA App, Xbox and others.

2 month ago Stripe employees told us that our business activity is high-risked so they couldnt onboard us until we "complete the form on Stripe Dashboard within the next 5 business days to provide more information about our business". And we were ok with that knowing how much fraud exists in this industry. We did all actions required from us and described our activity in details. After that we were told that they are "unable to to accept payments for sales, distribution, or access to licensed materials without the appropriate authirisation from the rights holder, as mentioned in Stripe's Restricted businesses list".
After that we:
- signed an agreement with official distributor of digital game codes;
- got a confirmation letter from official distributor confirming that our company is their trading partner
- provided an inventory we were expecting to sell (several screenshots of official distributor's catalogue, made with his consent)
- Described in details, which products we WILL sell and which categories of products we WON'T sell respectfully to Stripe's Terms and conditions.

And finally, 2 months later we received an email where they told that they "have completed review of the account and all requirements have been satisfied. As a result, account has been REACTIVATED" and that we "can now start processing payments and receiving payouts again". It happened 28 of May 2024.

But what happened next? Same day we received anoher email from Stripe about CLOSURE of our account with SAME requirements as were sent to us 2 months ago in the beginning.

To all our emails with detailed description of our situation we have received similar copy-paste reply - that our account remains closed.

This is disrespect for other people's work and our attempts to meet any demands from Stripe, negligence, disregard for their customers and a senseless waste of 2 months of our time.

We demand an apology for this attitude and reactivation of our account.

UPD: This is a reply to your comment:
No, guys, we dont have any active conversation via email. We just described you our situation. As it is said earlier, we provided all information you required, and after review you already accepted restoring an access to our account. If you blocked us again and asked for SAME information by mistake, then we want you to apologize for careless and negligence of your colleagues and restore an access. We are not going to running in circle wasting time to providing you SAME information multiple times. Its just ridiculous to ask for that.

Robbed in broad daylight!

UPDATE(June 12th): Still no answer to my emails.
UPDATE(June 3rd): Wrote two times to the email they gave me below in reply to NO ANSWER FROM MAY 23.

I have been working with Stripe for more than a year, everything was going fine I was happy, no disputes nothing but in the last 14 days I got two disputes.

The first one was, because the client decided to do a chargeback, because he didn’t want to pay customs fees for the product so he didn’t wait for the item to be returned he decided to chargeback. For this one I should pay shipping back, customs service fees, and also 20 euros for Stripe because of the dispute.

In the second case, there was a small product of low value, and the customer decided to charge back after I shipped the item. For this one, I will be without the product because it shipped and without money. After the second dispute, my account was blocked. So let’s talk about Stripe. From the stripe after providing all the documents about company orders, tracking numbers, and everything there was a lot of data I got an answer after 20min I don’t know how they sort it everything.

I don’t understand then the purpose of the payment service companies, do I need to prevent fraud and guarantee that all the transfers would be legit or is it’s Stripe job? Isn’t that why I am paying all those fees? In my case if it were a physical store I see it like this: Somebody comes to my store and steals some product, and after two weeks somebody else will steal another product, and then the police will come and close my store because of that and take all my money.

As I understand there is no chance of getting in touch with some real person only AI, nobody answering an email nothing, as I read my money is frozen and as I read I will not even get my money back 1.7 thousand euros because of the 17 euros dispute. I can't believe that such a company can do such things in our days. Disappointed with Stripe. Avoid them because one day not because of your fault you will be left without the money and without your products.

JOKE and ABSURD!

We use Stripe to pay for products on our site.
So far, we have not had any problems with the payment of funds. When changing sales and turning on direct sales, we needed a terminal. And this is where the complications began. To connect the terminal, select the middleware application to use it. It's very complicated. Customer service is not prepared to serve customers through this process. I needed a few hours, five assistants, to demand the call, because it is impossible to communicate on this topic by writing in the chat. Instead of tidying up the system and providing simple instructions (I didn't even receive it with the device any instruction), it is very complicated. It should be a simple process, listing at least the applications that need to be installed for this system to work. I operate a medical office and I require an additional phone to use this form of payment!!!! Absolutely embarrassing that you can't connect to your computer system!!!! My IT specialist had to read dozens of comments and dozens of pages to find any hint, and it took us an hour to connect to the application and phone, when he found the clue where to start. JOKE!!!!

Hi Monika, we're incredibly sorry the experience has been less than positive here and that's definitely not what we aim for. For context, Terminal is first and foremost a developer tool, and is a different product than most card readers. It is actually a portion of Stripe’s API; you would integrate our software with your existing application or website, in addition to setting up the physical card readers. Our team has designed this product with developers in mind, offering customizability rather than a fully-produced, ready to use card reader. Developer knowledge is required to successfully integrate with our Terminal SDKs. You can read more about Terminal here: https://docs.stripe.com/terminal.

We'd like to take a second look at your account and support case to see what we can do to help. Please email us directly at heretohelp@stripe.com as soon as possible so we can get started. Thank you.

Account closed overnight with no reason :(

At 1am this morning I received an email from Stripe saying they were going to close my account unless I took action.

Around 9 my account was closed.

When I woke up I quickly submitted the verification ID had been asked for and 6 months of business statements. I then received an email saying they were shutting it down and they couldn’t explain why. They did say my business is a risk but will not tell me why.

I have been using stripe for about 5 years now. We use it on our website and I have sold all of my self published cookbooks through my website as well as kitchen products and merch to go along side it.

8 months ago I started a Substack, this is now my sole form of income and the only form of payment they accept is from Stripe.

I have three young kids and rely on this income that I have built up this last year. I have 655 paying subscribers, as within a few hours you have taken that away from me.

I am beyond upset and have been crying all day wondering how this could’ve happened to me. Everything I have been working so hard at while having a new born has been ripped from under me. I feel defeated.

In the 5 years I have been using Stripe I have never once had a dispute or anything to sort out. I have sent numerous emails with no replies. Can you please explain why this has happened and how it can be rectified?

I am such a small business trying really hard to make ends meet and bring up a young family this is truly so heartbreaking for me. For me to continue to use Substack, I have to set up a new Stripe account and convince all of my subscribers to resubscribe which is unlikely.

I am heartbroken.

UPDATE: I have still heard nothing from Stripe. They have told me my case is with the specialist team and can not tell me when they'll respond. This is my lifeline !!

Scam Company!!

Scam Company!!! DO NOT USE IT

This is the third time now, that my account is frozen. At first they wanted the ID card, which I sent. After that they wanted to see the complete website, which I sent. Now they want some other identification stuff which we can't provide because we are a start-up company with digital items. We received payments, sent the item to the customer and after that Stripe just freeze the account.

The reason for the block is "A customer has sent an unverified payment".... WHY WOULD YOU BLOCK MY ACCOUNT AND NOT THE GUY WHO PAID???

No cashouts, no refunds, nothing is possible. Since months there's no Live Chat, no phone hotline. Only the email service, where you can only HOPE that you receive an answer within a week. And all they do is sending you a template, which doesn't make any sense.

Now I have 900€ on my account and have 0 access to do anything. This company is just causing pain!!!

They always close your account after you received money, before that everything seems fine.

DO! NOT! USE! IT!

And to the guy responding to these reviews, you can keep your template reply to yourself.

EDIT 1: It's funny how they are able to reply within 30 minutes to a negative review. I've sent an email to them 2 days ago, now I received an automatic reply from stripe to confirm my support request. They're just messing with me! If there's a hell on earth, it's definitely called STRIPE!

EDIT 2: Now they sent me the same template as in the first email. This support is garbage, I'm going to contact my Lawyer. Holding funds just because they think your company is risky should be illegal!

EDIT 3: It's been 2 weeks now, no reply. I've contacted my lawyer and BeFin, that's just unbelievable what's going on with this company!

Extremely disappointed with Stripe as…

Extremely disappointed with Stripe as our credit card processing company. As a small business using Webflow for our e-commerce platform, we were essentially forced into using Stripe. However, it's been a nightmare. We've encountered numerous fake orders that Stripe initially approves but later get disputed, leaving us out of pocket and without our products. Despite reaching out to them multiple times, their customer service has been unhelpful. If you're a small business like us, save yourself the hassle and explore other credit card processing options. Not only does Stripe fail to protect against fraudulent orders, but they also withhold funds because of them, leaving us unable to access all of our money. This adds insult to injury for small businesses like ours. It's a frustrating situation that compounds the already poor experience with their service.

Hi J, we’re very sorry to hear about this. Kindly note that you are immediately responsible to Stripe for debits against your account balance, including disputed charges. This is described in greater depth in Stripe’s Services Agreement:

We strongly recommend creating an effective dispute and fraud prevention strategy is the best way to ensure that your Stripe account is safe from these issues. Be CAREFUL, if you are using stripe. its FRAUD

I was using stripe from 2022. while this period of time they were fine with me but as soon as my business boosts and i am getting good sales they closed my account without any valid reason. i was unable to deliver products to many of my customers. there were money in my account which i refunded my customers and after closure of my i was unable to refund so i request my customers to open a dispute to get their money back for the orders they have not received yet. But for the products i have shipped there is still an amount which stripe has to pay me out. This money belongs to me. its been months i was trying to contact support but every timer they did not understand my situation and i received an automatic reply. there is still 800+ USD available in my account. and i want my money back, i don't want to work with stripe anymore. I request to the readers of this review please be careful if you are using stripe.
I emailed them twice after their reply on the given email heretohelp at Stripe.com but as usual they didn't bother to reply me back with appropriate solution of my problem.

STRIPE IS A NIGHTMARE.

I have been using the service for the last two months and it has been a nightmare!

My business, which is in digital marketing, does not fall under the category of restricted businesses. I used the service for 15 days, then my account was closed due to a "high number of unauthorized transactions," which was nonsense. After a review by the Stripe team, my account was re-enabled and they apologized.

Three days after this incident, Stripe's automated system closed my account again for the same reason. I contacted support, and once again, they re-enabled it.

A month later, the Stripe automated system shut down my account again for the same reason!

This has been a complete nightmare and utter nonsense. After I contacted support, they told me the decision was final, even though I have had zero high-risk payments.

The worst part is that they are holding $2,500 of my hard-earned income and told me they would refund the customers within five days.

I contacted all available emails, including support and accounts, and even reached out to 'heretohelp.' None of them responded.

Update : They are replying with the same robotic texts. No one is taking the time to take my case seriously. And for the last 48h they are just ghosting me as they read the emails and they don't reply which is disrespectful.

Scam company

I am using stripe for some time now, I used to charge my clients through stripe. When my payments reached to $2800, the stripe freezed my account saying that your business is high risk, though I did not has a single chargeback or refund request in my business. I sell digital services such as SEO and social media marketing which is a quite safe business.
They refused to pay my money saying this option is available to only a limited businesses in the USA. So my money will never be paid to me.
Stay away of this company.

If I could leave a negative trillion… I would

If I could give them a negative trillion rating, I would. They're insincere jerks. They're literally closing my account arbitrarily.

Just to give some background, I operate a digital marketing agency where everything is handled virtually, including client payments. According to them, the client didn't authorize a payment for an invoice that was sent through Stripe without any prior card or bank details associated with it. It's literally nonsensical.

To make matters worse, I have $33300 in that account, and they decided to close it after that payment came through. They won't refund the client or release the money. Instead, they're content to let the money sit there like it's useless.

Hi Kody, we’re very sorry to hear that. There are a number of reasons why a Stripe account may become unsupportable. For instance, we’re unable to support businesses that are deemed high-risk or account with a high dispute rate. Stripe may also put a reserve on an account if it is deemed high risk to mitigate against potential future disputes. Please email us at heretohelp@stripe.com, and we’ll take another look.

No support in chargebacks.

No support in chargebacks.

Just lost a chargeback because customer said product was not as discribed. Products was as described and sold to thousands of others.

Customer sent no email, did not return the item, made a chargeback and won!!! Basically makes every sale via stripe chargebackable, without any evidence or contact, because Stripe do not protect their customers.

This is the second one. The first one from a few weeks ago has been "escalated", yet I think this is stripe way of saying "go away little man".

Delirious to say the least

Delirious to say the least!
I subscribed to an e-commerce platform that integrates Stripe as a payment facility and since then, the latest had been creating relentless problems (as if, you don't have enough as an online entrepreneur...)
I sell self help and informations ebooks as well as promoting affiliation for organic products for health such as CBD oil.
Because of the latest, they closed my account because it falls under "not allowed category" - even though this product is allowed to advertise on Facebook and many other market places.
I don't mention the load of emails exchanged and how stupid and tedious, it was! Shame on them! Taking care of entrepreneur's payment and acting like a psychopath is plain insanity and a sure way to failure and bankruptcy, if you ever get to trust them. Unbelievable! they should be sued.
