Extremely bad boiler

Extremely bad boiler. I have fitted many electric boilers and this is by far the worst boiler i have ever fitted or come across in general. Cant get through to technical services. User manual is basic and useless. Boiler is brand new and has already failed or shut itself off numerous times. Does not sense hot water demand when tap is turned on and cant ever get hold of Strom support.

NEVER AGIAN

The boiler had been professionally installed by a qualified electrician and plumber, yet it has never worked from the moment it was taken out of the box. It is presenting error faults from the outset.

I have contacted Strom directly to see whether this could be resolved easily via a reset or code. However, after more than four days of communication, I am getting nowhere. Strom have already acknowledged over the phone that the boiler is faulted, yet they continue to request irrelevant information such as room plans and heat loss calculations, despite the fact that the boiler has never operated at all. Their process has been inconsistent, unhelpful, and has caused me to lose complete confidence in their product and support.

We have just installed an 11 kW Strom…

We have just installed an 11 kW Strom Electric Boiler and discovered that the pressure clock is not working. As a result, we are unable to properly pressurize the system and cannot put the boiler into operation.
When we contacted Strom’s customer service department, they told us that they could send us a replacement part—essentially requiring us to repair a brand-new boiler that we just paid £1,200 for. They also stated that they could not send a technician to fix it, despite it being a brand-new unit.
We are extremely disappointed with this situation—having to repair a boiler that we just purchased is unacceptable. We will never use Strom again.

Painful to deal with regarding a faulty boiler. The boiler is under a 2 year warranty, it’s developed a fault within that time and they just seem to be avoiding any responsibility to rectify

The warranty offered is a myth, they are using all avenues to avoid sending out the required parts

Don’t buy their products

Don’t buy their products. Bought an electric combination boiler. Boiler caused a fault within 3 weeks of fitting. Electrician went back and diagnosed PCB fault. Rang Strom to get part covered under warranty? They don’t have any warranty. THEY DON’T even have engineers to carry out work? It’s misleading and was missold. Removed boiler from property and fitted an alternative brand with no issues. Please think twice before buying product.

Matt, we are sorry that you feel that the service you received was not as you had expected.

When you contacted us on December 6th, we asked for several pieces of key information that were needed in order for us to help you with your issue.

Based on the information you provided on that call, a technical team member spent time trouble shooting with you, and you were advised that the problem you were experiencing, with the external tripping RCD, was most likely down to earth leakage.

We explained that this should be investigated by a qualified electrician to confirm one way or the other. To help you further until you were able to provide us with the requested information, we also provided you with a trouble shooting guide.

After several attempts to contact you, we hadn’t heard back from you. On December 12th you replied to our emails and you refused a call from our technical team.

As the information we had requested, including an electrical certificate, which is legal requirement and is part of the UK Building Regulations … as well as being essential for a valid warranty on our boilers, had still not been provided, we were obviously limited in the help we could provide.

Any further support provided at this stage would have been based on assumptions, which is something Strom do not do. We take our support function seriously, and we take pride in the service our technical team can provide when they have the necessary details required.

Thanks, Strom Ltd.

The boiler developed a fault

The boiler developed a fault the plumber did not understand the fault. He said we should contact the manufacture to arrange their service engineers to carry out the repair. They don't have any!, Strom said that any electrician should be able to carry out the repair. Eventually Strom wanted the heat-loss calculations and said that the boiler was under rated therefore the warranty was void. As a good will gesture Strom supplied the part need for the repair. The repair cost us £550 in labour for the plumber and electrician. The boiler cuts out on return temp over limit, once this happens I have to turn the boiler on and off to get it working again, this happens every 30 minuets

We are sorry to hear that you’ve had a negative experience with one of our products.

Our customer care and technical services are of the upmost importance to us and we are constantly looking to see how we can improve on them. As such, all calls are recorded and stored for quality and training purposes.

Unfortunately we are unable to find anything logged in your name on our databases. I suspect your installer will have contacted us directly, and without their details it is difficult for us to investigate and comment on your experience.

It would be unfair to make any assertions or assumptions without looking into the logged correspondence however what you are describing to us is typically attributed a specification error.

Correctly specifying a boiler is not just a requirement of our own manual but is also a requirement of UK building regulations as it is widely recognised that if there is a large discrepancy between the heat loss requirements of your property and the heating output of your boiler, this can cause major problems for your heating system.

We always look to try and support our customers as best as possible, whether it be through remote troubleshooting, our own engineer callouts (which are available) or providing spare parts / replacement boiler to your existing installer. However, if a boiler has become defective as a result of overspecification then unfortunately we cannot accept liability for something that should have been correctly specified by your installer.

If you think we’ve got something wrong then please feel free to reach out to us directly (0333 344 2474 - Option 2) so that we may be able to review your case and contact we had with your installer to determine if this is or isn’t the case, and try to find a resolution for yourself.

Many thanks, Strom.

Excellent customer service from Strom. First time using them. Contacted my usual supplier about a project requiring electric boiler and unvented cylinder, I was then contacted the same day by a member of Strom who worked out exactly what I needed in no time. I placed my order at my supplier in the afternoon and Strom had it delivered the following morning. Will be using them for all electric boilers. Thanks for your help and service Alan.
