Recently Three employees (including me) got fired just three days after we were hired. Our joining date was 4th July 2022. On that particular day, this company told me to rent a place nearby hence we shifted to Chandigarh. Just after three days of induction, onboarding & training, (8th July 2022) they decided to fire us. This company didn’t even bother to call me up themselves and just called two of my friends and conveyed that they shouldn’t come to office anymore. We were immediately removed from the Whatsapp group as well. When we asked for the reason so as to why we were fired, they started ghosting us- didn’t reply to our repeated calls & messages etc. We tried contacting the senior authorities and literally begged them to arrange a meeting.
The HR then told us that she isn’t aware of the reason and it’s the call of seniors. The same day when I went to the office , the senior authorities told him that it was the sole decision of HR and the seniors play no role in it. It was the HR who hired us & it’s the HR who has decided to now terminate you guys they said.
As I couldn’t do much now, I asked HR to arrange my meeting with the director of the company. HR informed me after my repeated requests that it’ll be scheduled for Monday. All I could do was now wait & hope and that’s what I did for two days.
On Monday (11th July , 2022) , I went to the office for his meeting with the director (the same person who conducted my interview at the first place and selected me ) & I was surprised with what he said.
When asked for the reason - he told me that there is a mismatch of the skillset required for this role. When I particularly asked what was missing, I was told that I had a British accent, and what they are looking for is a neutral Indian accent (funny, right? as it was the same accent even during the interview & they were too dumb to notice it then?!)
When I asked one other senior manager that what would We say to our family now- the manager replied that we should say that we didn’t like the work culture and environment there and hence came back instead of telling the truth.
I begged the director to keep me as I already rented a place in Chandigarh (paid security, rent, brokerage, signed a bond for 6+ months) but the director just asked me to apply somewhere else ( as if it’s a joke)
The emotional, mental, and financial trauma I been going through is difficult to imagine.
Companies these days don’t care how much will the person be affected because of their such ridiculous actions?
