Flat has structural issues, I was ignored when I asked to leave the contract because of these problems.

I rented a flat through Sanderson Weatherall at the start of this year. The flat seemed nice enough at the viewing but a number of problems were hidden.

By far the worst problem is that noise from the flat above booms through the ceiling. I directly asked the agent about this when I moved in and was told that the flat above mine was occupied by a quiet single professional. However, the ceiling of the flat is built like a drum and amplifies footsteps from the tenant above, so I have been woken up almost every night or morning since moving in, and it's almost impossible to work from the flat. Meals are regularly disturbed . It's a total nightmare.

I've sent Sanderson Weatherall multiple videos showing loud booming footsteps moving througout the flat, and both the other tenant and I have asked Sanderson Wetherall to come and view the property and see the issue for themselves to understand how bad it is, but several of these requests have been ignored. The other tenant isn't doing anything wrong, they're just unable to walk across their floor without the sound booming into my flat.

I asked if I could get out of my contract early due to the horrendous noise, but multiple emails were completely ignored. I even asked if I could move to another property managed by Sanderson Weatherall, but that was also ignored.

The situation is intollerable, and I've felt trapped in an outrageous situation for the past nine months. My contract is now up and I'm looking to move out but Sanderson Weatherall should NOT be renting this flat out in its current condition. Sanderson Weatherall have created an incredibly stressful situation for me and no doubt for the other tenant. At times I've felt completely distraught, and things could easily have turned into a more serious conflict due to their inaction. Talk about profiting from other peoples' misery.

Noise isn't the only issue with this flat. The shower in the flat floods, and the boiler only gave 5 mins of hot water when I first moved in. When I complained about the shower, I was told by Sanderson Weatherall that I should buy a mop!

So to summarise, Sanderson Weatherall rented me a flat with a couple of major structural issues, then simply ignored me every time I asked to leave the contract early because of these problems.

Super I was very pleased with the…

Super I was very pleased with the service received by Sanderson weatherall Scarborough branch,
Called them as I have dealt with Andy previously.
The valuation was realistic and the marketing superb with excellent photos & even a virtual tour.communication throughout the process was good with Jenny notifying me of all viewings & offers.
From start to finish everything ran smoothly & was well organised.
Thanks Andy & Jenny for delivering what you promised. Top quality service.

Unreliable and unprofessional company

Unreliable and unprofessional company ! We had an incredibly disappointing experience with this SW company. We were in the process of securing a property for our new family business in the city center, and after they accepted our offer—confirming that both we and the vendor were happy—they kept delaying everything without any valid reason.

Their main excuse was questioning our funds, even though we provided full proof of our bank statements, clearly showing we had the money ready. If they had any concerns about the leaseholder’s name, we were fully flexible and even offered to change it to another family member—yet they still kept delaying.
Because this wasn’t a case we realised that we been betrayed
Then, behind our backs, they secretly handed the property over to someone else—likely for a slightly higher offer. This was extremely unprofessional, dishonest, and a complete waste of our time.
For a whole month, they strung us along, causing unnecessary stress and frustration. Their lack of transparency and integrity has made it clear that they do not operate with fairness or respect for their clients.
Finally I called them and they told me if you say anything’s now it’s pointless !

I strongly advise anyone looking for a property to stay away from this company. They are unreliable, untrustworthy, and completely unprofessional.

Great service

SW during my stay in UK greatly supported me to initially find an apartment to let and then to sell my property when I had to move abroad. Special thanks to Diana who supported us in all aspects of the transition.

Avoid at all costs

We had to move out of a property early due to damp, mould and other issues which they were reluctant to release us from. Our landlord was the Diocese of Leeds (the Church believe it or not!)
They have tried to delay releasing our deposit even though we deep cleaned the property before leaving it they are trying to charge us £160 cleaning fee. The property was left much more clean by us than when we found it.
LANDLORDS, I would avoid this Letting Agent at all costs as your property will not be maintained in a good condition as they don’t seem to care about the state of the buildings they let to Tenants and let issues become major, which will ultimately lead to high repair bills.
We will now be proceeding to mediation to retrieve our deposit and claim for undue stress of the situation.

During your inspections there were no signs of damp at the property. There had been historic leaks which had dried and required redecorating. The mould area you refer to appeared to be condensation mould from a lack of ventilation to the area.

The condition and safety of the properties we let is of the utmost importance to us, but this does require some work from both letting agents and tenants alike.

The deposit return also took longer than we would normally like due to communication back and forth to try to settle the matter without the dispute service which we have now achieved.

Unreliable before you even start!

Tried to book a viewing for the 8th of August. Cancelled due to their poor communication with the current tenant.

Accepted that mistakes happens and moved the viewing to the 15th. 10 minutes before viewing it was cancelled as they had managed to lose the keys.

If you want a reliable estate agent you'd be better off elsewhere.

Utterly clueless

Utterly clueless. Used Sanderson Weatherall as they were the closest firm of valuers on the banks' panel (the property is in Cardiff). They valued the property at 20% less than three national firms with Cardiff offices. When I challenged them they increased their valuation slightly but were still way behind the three other agents. Unfortunately, they were instructed by the bank so I can't sue them for negligence as they clearly had no idea what they were doing on this valuation. Avoid.
