Tangerine Telecommunications: This is NOT okay!
Over a YEAR ago, I upgraded to FTTP with Tangerine Telecommunications. I trusted their process and their team to manage this change, as any customer would. But instead of doing the right thing, they continued to charge me for my old service—without any notice, without any accountability.
When I caught the error and contacted them, I was initially promised a $1200 refund for the money they wrongly took from me. Relief, right? WRONG. Suddenly, that promise was revoked. Now, they’ve decided my time, money, and trust are worth just $200 in future bill credits. To add insult to injury, they’re blaming me for not canceling the old service—something that should have been part of the upgrade process when I called to make the change.
This isn’t just frustrating—it’s outright unethical and very likely illegal.
Why should loyal customers be punished for trusting a company to manage their services properly? How many others have been quietly overcharged without realizing it? Tangerine, this behavior is NOT acceptable. I am taking this further, and I urge others to check your bills and speak out if you’ve experienced anything similar.
We deserve better. Customers deserve fairness, transparency, and respect. Tangerine, it’s time to take responsibility.

I wouldn’t recommend Tangerine to my worst enemy . It took seven weeks to connect NBN at my property (including a no show appointment that I asked Tangerine to follow up on NBN and never received a response). Now I received an internet bill for the weeks I was waiting on NBN and had no internet ! Absolutely ridiculous ! And they told me I would only start paying after the internet was connected

Dodgy practices. After requesting an upgrade to FTTN I started getting charged for 2 internet accounts at the same address. I only picked this up 5 months later. When I disputed the double charges they told me that they need to "verify with the sales agent" that I requested for them to cancel the old account. They are now offering me a credit of $120 when I've been over charged by $415.
As a side note, I've been paying for 50mb/s internet speed and have averaged between 10mb/s and 20mb/s (top 30mb/s). Dropouts are also quite common.
I'll be looking for a better service.

not too impressed. The service was fine but I did notice price rises quite soon after I was signed up. Be careful when you move to another company. They make it sound like there are no fees as long as you let them know before the new month period but actually you have to let them know before they generate the bill which is a date you don't actually know, So leaving this company cost me $100 even though I let them know before the new month started. Left me with a nasty feeling. Amaysim seem like a nicer company and much better value:)

Disgraceful - The absolute worst internet/NBN provider I have ever dealt with. The Netcomm modem they sold with the package was faulty from the outset and their customer technical support team are completely incompetent and were unable to diagnose it. Their internet speeds never met with the package sold. There service was so poor I elected to change providers after the 6 months deal.They later conceded the modem was faulty 9 months after purchase, however refused to refund the cost the modem. Our entire house hold has been impacted the NBN connection it has been a night mare. My son often works from home however due to internet drops outs has not been able to. A disgraceful and fraudulent company who should not have a NBN providers accreditation in Australia.

Worst internet provider in Australia.
I have an existing NBN and an original modem then I chose them as my WIFI provider. But it failed to connect to my BYO modem, I called them 5 times a week but it couldn't be fixed they kept saying it was my modem issues. Then I changed one modem which cost me $500 but it still failed to connect. Then I decided to change providers in 10 mins I connected to another provider. It works! TANGERINE wasted my 2 weeks without WIFI at home.

Great Customer Service from Hector at Tangerine. He was able to clarify all my doubts.
Quiet happy to take my money and not provide the service, telling me I have an active internet service at my address to another owner. I don't have one and I've talked to I'm blue in the face and they won't listen. So now trying to run a business without internet, worst customer service and would definitely not recommend

The customer service is worst. On 10-09-2024 there was a serious unplanned outage and I called the customer service and she got my identity and address verified. After verifying my address She obviously understood that there is unplanned outage and instead of telling the same and letting me know the tentative time to resolve the issue, she wanted me to give the details of router, NBN and god knows what else. All the time she is insisting on making me to repeat the details over and over until her ego is satisfied and told me that the resolution of problem is going to take 24-48 Hrs. An unplanned outage with an uncertainty of 24-48 hrs will obviously have severe consequences to customers which she is absolutely obnoxiously naive of knowing.
Somebody with three connections and paying $150 in ADVANCE every month, they deserve to know the exact status, if not 'AT LEAST TRANSPARENCY' of the information mainly not forcing them to follow the drill of this and that number.
After everything she is very persistent not to transfer the call to level-2 as she failed to give me the exact status. It took me 13 minutes with her and another 15 mins of waiting to just connected to Level-2 and it took another 14 mins for the level-2 to connect me to the team of experts, which obviously ended only god knows why.
If 1 is the level of Optus customer service this is -10. Now I want my network disconnected.

They locked me out of my online account so i cant change my payment details. Thinking this would be a quick fix, i have tang and contacted them many times. They refuse to fix it and charge me an extra $15 per month. Its been 6 months.

I have the worst customer service experience ever. I tried to contact them when I could not connect to the internet and I followed all the steps and instructions from their technician (via phone and online chat) but nothing worked. They refused to send a technician to come to fix it. I do not recommend to using their service!

They over charge by a lot if a payment is missed, they have a very stupid authentication process that you need access to your mobile or internet before they will talk to you so if you are cut off or having tech difficulties they won't help you till you can connect to authenticate. Lastly, they were hacked a short while ago leaking all personal details, home addresses, names, dobs, etc etc etc. I've already had some of my identity stolen as a result. I have now changed to another isp.
I received appallingly poor service from Tangerine for NBN. I left after the first month, due to no/poor internet for over a week of that time, which they were unable/unwilling to resolve. Because I didn’t call them to cancel when I move to another ISP, they continued to bill me, even though the service was not connected and refused to refund the portion for of the bill that I was not connected for.

Misleading, liars, useless and no cooling off period
so happy to keep my money - complaint sent to ACCC. They tell you BYO your modem and after you sign up, they tell you they cant help you at all. They told me to contact TPlink modem manufacturers to check if tangerine settings were correct - ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, just another ploy to get you to buy one of their $150 modems. When i asked them to cancel my contract which had come into effect today (for 1.5 hrs) they said they will cancel but will not refund my money... I signed up on good faith based on what their sales person told me. DO NOT TRUST.

Was with another provider for 5 years. Always had full 50 speed on 50/20 plan. On the day that I switched over I went from full speed in the morning to 1.6 mbps with Tangerine. Spent an hour on chat with tech support 3 days in a row. Repeatedly did all the same tests over and over that repeatedly showed no issue with my devices or wifi. Can't even watch a youtube video :(

In February 2024, the Australian Telco Tangerine suffered a data breach that exposed over 200k customer records. Attributed to a legacy customer database, the data included physical and email addresses, names, phone numbers and dates of birth. Whilst the Tangerine login process involves sending a one-time password after entering an email address and phone number, it previously used a traditional password which was also exposed as a bcrypt hash.
Compromised data: Dates of birth, Email addresses, Names, Passwords, Phone numbers, Physical addresses, Salutations
