BE WARNED! - Dated holiday lodge in need of complete overhaul.
Booked a weeks holiday at Firgarth Lodge in White Cross Bay Holiday Park and definitely do not recommend!
Beds were so bad that ended up trying each one and then sleeping on the couch. Gave up by the third day so complained and requested money back to go elsewhere. Was only given money back minus the nights spent at the accommodation despite not getting any sleep!
Ross appears professional at first but suggested sleeping on the couch fold out bed despite paying over £800 for the holiday and then charged for the first few nights despite the complaint and dismissal of the state of the beds.
The accommodation is in dire need of renovation and screams "bodged".
Here is a short list of issues:
There are 4 single beds and a double bed. All are very old and absolutely uncomfortable as the mattresses must be 10+ years (maybe more) old with the double bed being completely broken. Bed springs are felt in every bed (Tried to get a good nights sleep in every one).
Blinds are cheap and broken.
One of the rooms has as a musty smell and black mould in the corners.
One of the plug socket on the wall flexes the entire wall panel when used which questions the safety of said socket and the electric wiring of the property.
The toilet is in a seperate room with a narrow door with massive door handle. There's an enormous sink opposite a towel radiator which the door handle hits so you can't open the door fully have to squeeze past the sink. The toilet seat is visibly warn, discoloured and damaged and the toilet door latch is fitted the wrong way round?!
The kitchen bin was broken and the kitchen is generally dated. There is a small dishwasher but no washing machine. I'd spend a week without a dishwasher in favor of a washing machine to wash my hiking gear, especially given we mostly eat out when on holiday.
Though double glazed, the windows look very old and several don't seal properly so there's a draft and noise travels through them as if they were open.
The dining table for 6 people has 4 chairs and is not large enough to fit 6 adults even if there were enough chairs.
The carpets, although vacuumed, are visibly dirty, despite being charged an additional £30 for a "deep clean" when bringing our dog. What exactly do you need to clean "more" after a dog has been in the property that you don't when other people have been there?
The hot tub is very old and weathered and when turned on, only half the jets actually function. There's a canopy over the hot tub that's broken and doesn't slide open/closed properly.
The hot tub has a broken/warn rubber seal so the pine tree directly above showers needles into the hot tub, even when closed.
I've not stayed at any of their other properties but I'd caution anyone looking at this website due to the poor condition of this property and poor resolution of my issues.
