Warning! Buyer beware!

Warning! Disgusting slimy business practices. Once this group have your credit card they will continue to charge you even after you cancel. If I could give zero stars I would. This is the most unethical company we have ever dealt with in 20 of doing business. Terrible customer service, below average product, and no ethics. Buyer beware!

Unreliable for testing candidates.

I had a very frustrating experience with TestGorilla during a recent job application which prevented me from the opportunity to get a job.

I completed a multi-part assessment that took around an hour. During the second section, the platform would not let me progress past question 5 (out of 12) — the “Next” button simply stopped working. This significantly impacted my results for that section.

I reported the issue, and TestGorilla said they would notify the hiring company, which was appreciated.

However, when I later asked for the inaccurate portion of the results to be addressed, they deleted my entire assessment without my consent — including the sections I completed successfully. This effectively erased all evidence of my performance.

I was then told nothing could be restored and that my only option was to restart the entire process. Given the time invested and the fact the issue was caused by a technical fault, this is not a reasonable outcome.

Overall:

The platform had a critical technical issue
The resolution made the situation worse
There was no meaningful recovery or accountability

I would be cautious relying on this platform for high-stakes assessments, as technical issues can directly impact outcomes and may not be resolved fairly.

Warning - Financially unethical and potential money scam

Warning! They do not respond to cancel when requested. They ignored my emails to cancel. I wasted huge amounts of time filing disputes via Amex and even had to cancel a card completely to get them to stop billing me. Do not sign up to this service unless you are ready to be ripped off.

Irrelevant questions …

90% of the questions is irrelevant to the position you apply. Some questions you need a calculator to get to the right answer... time to complete is out of spec. You must race through everything to get to all the answer everything.

I wish I could give ZERO stars

I wish I could give ZERO stars. I expected a rigorous test of my financial logic and technical accounting skills. Instead, I was presented with a series of truncated sentences, poor grammar, and broken English that made the questions nearly impossible to interpret. It is insulting to ask a professional to sit for a 'competency' exam that lacks basic editorial standards. This isn't an assessment of accounting; it’s a test of how well you can guess what a poorly translated sentence is trying to say. Completely unprofessional.. Came to the test time imagining I'd have an accounting related test with questions using accounting jargon and formulas, etc... Such a surprise I've started the test with four modules: time management, BIG OCEAN(behavioural questions), quickbooks online, intermediate accounting. Although it was supposed to test my accounting skills. I have never been tested with so broken language on poorly constructed sentences. It was my ability to decipher riddles being tested. Total waste of time.

What the actual f was this

What the actual f was this? I have never been so disappointed and confused by an online assessment. I have passed Alva assessments with the highest scores, and these tests are an absolute waste of time and energy. I realized that since the exercise questions, and I skipped through the assessment to save time. Next time I see an employer using this assessment for hiring, I will block them. What an actual disgrace.

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with TestGorilla’s billing practices and customer support.

I am giving this company 1 out of 5 stars only because there is no lower rating available. If it were possible, I would rate this service 0.00000000000001 out of 5. That is how bad this experience has been.

I was charged $169 USD for seven consecutive months, even after I explicitly canceled my subscription. Despite canceling, they continue to bill my card every single month, and there is no option in the platform to remove your credit card, which is unacceptable for any modern SaaS product.

When I contacted support, they responded claiming that I am tied to a 1-year contract. However, this is not clearly stated anywhere on their website, pricing page, or during the signup process. There was no transparent disclosure of a mandatory annual commitment at the time of purchase. This feels misleading at best and deceptive at worst.

I wrote to them again explaining the situation, and I received the exact same canned response, with no attempt to actually help or review my case. There is no phone number, no live chat, and no way to speak directly to a human agent, which makes the situation even more frustrating.

To make matters worse, the service itself was not what I was looking for, and I stopped using it long ago. Yet I am effectively being forced to keep paying for a product I do not use and cannot cancel.

This experience has completely destroyed my trust in TestGorilla. A company that prevents users from removing payment methods, continues charging after cancellation, and hides behind vague “contracts” without clear upfront disclosure is not acting in good faith.

I strongly advise anyone considering this platform to read the fine print very carefully and think twice before entering their credit card details. Once you’re in, getting out seems nearly impossible.

A friendly warning to save your time and hardship.

I do understand the need for assessments onn certain job types but going through test gorilla was probably the absolute worst mistake this company that I was going to apply for could have ever made. Test gorilla is beyond hope. You can tell that it was put together by the cheapest lowest bidder, and the entire platform is just so horrible. But let's get to the meat and potatoes. The assessments are not written correctly. They ask questions and then don't provide answers to those questions or they'll use word problems and give you a set of names. But in the answers, they'll change the names out completely. So none of the names match any of the word problems they'll also use extremely confusing instructions that aren't even written in full english. But broken english, which leads me to believe that this may have been written by a company overseas and is now being marketed out of the united states like it was platform.Created for american companies, which clearly it was not. There are frequent misspellings. There are mathematical errors, and we even went as far as taking the assessments to a couple of ai models to find out that we're not crazy. These are all just horribly written. I withdrew my application from the company and I have just made it a new point.Anybody who I apply for that goes through test gorilla.Immediately, I withdraw my application, I add their name to a list of do not do business with and I think test gorilla has just become a liability for any company looking to hire meaningful candidates.Because many of us are not going to play that game. You cannot use a faulty assessment to grade someone's knowledge and skill level. When the assessment itself is subpar, who do you think you are creating these kinds of assessments when you have zero knowledge about what you're talking about to the point that you cannot even create a full assessment without it being riddled with errors. I am curious to know how many people were passed over on jobs that they were more than qualified for simply because tescorela was for all intents and purposes.Stupid. if you want my recommendation, you're not going to get it here.My suggestion would be if you see test gorilla come across your inbox.Forget it, forget that job move on to the next one because any company that uses this as their regular assessment is going to be a company. That's full of problems internally and so is their products and services for that reason.I'm out.

Auto renewal scam !!!

I used GT since 2023, and it was smooth untill they decided to play around with the terms of payment. When our company need to do efficiency and cut cost, we cannot cancel the yearly subscription.

First because they provide no cancellation option in the account section, unlike many other platforms.

Second, even after the yearly auto-renewal I cannot login to find where should I go to cancel the subscription. I ended up replying their email and it's too late, the subscription has been auto renewed.

It felt more like a scam when it's renewed but I still can't login to use the test.

Be careful!!!

They bait emotional candidates to onboard on their platform. Don't signup, you won't see the assessment result they sent to Employer

After taking the assessment for a company Testgorilla sent an email saying create an account to view the result. But after creating the account uploading my data to their shitty platform yet they did not show the assessment result they had sent to the company that had just taken my interview.

Basically, they baited emotionally to get an user onboarded to their shitty saas business platform.

I signed up for a trial and cancelled…

I signed up for a trial and cancelled it in time but they continued billing me $744 per month! I attempted multiple times to contact their customer service but they don't have one. So I cancelled my credit card but they continued to charge me (who would have thought that was possible?!?). Now I have raised a dispute through my credit card provider and they have finally got in contact with me and are incessiantly chasing me for charges not due. I've tried explaining the situation multiple ways but the person speaking to me doesn't seem to even understand how their own billing systems work. It's disgusting. If they don't decist I will have no choice but to raise a complaint with the ACCC....

naah

It seems like they have everything I need, but they only offer contracts that are quite pricey. If you're hiring your first employee, and you actually don't need this service for a year, customer support is quite disappointed too. It takes them so long to answer, and they just don't get you.

One more thing: when I spoke to their salesperson during the demo call, he didn't even know about all options they offer. For example, in my case, he didn't know that they offer some special terms to VC-based startups.

BEWARE! Avoid TestGorilla at all costs!

BEWARE!! This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a software company. They billed me for a annual subscription that was cancelled and have refused to refund me when I reached out a few days later to complain. Now they just threatened me for leaving my honest reviews! This company needs to be reported for their behavior!
