I’d give zero stars if I could. Paid £4400 for an absolute pile of shite.

Was told I had to have the warranty with the vehicle which was several hundred pounds, ramping the costs up. To find out that they hadn't even provided me with a warranty for the right vehicle. As soon as winter came around I noticed the vehicle had leaks (sneakily for sale in summer) and when I say leaks, I mean I had to remove gallons of water from my boot and footwells. Very dishonest sellers, rip off merchants, avoid like the plague.

I have requested a refund for my mis sold warranty, and I will be contacting the motor vehicle ombudsman about this company.

Absolute GARBAGE!!

Absolute GARBAGE!!

Over the past couple of years I have purchased several heaters and light switches, 80% have been returned within 6 months due to faults!

The only reason I continue to put up with such crap is it all runs from one app and I do not want to have to replace all at once, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CONCIDER REPLACING IT ALL!

I will keep taking back the crap when it fails and keep insisting on replacements untill you create your equipment to work as it should!

Mazda 6

I bought a Mazda 6. They said I had a month's warranty on the engine and gearbox. Within 2 weeks, a rattle appeared on the engine. They then denied any warranty on the engine and that the rattle must be because there's no oil in the engine!! So I said is this because you sold me a vehicle with no oil in it? They said no, it's not us selling it with no oil, the oil must have disappeared since you drove it away. There's oil in there. Over 20 years of driving experience here so I do know you need oil in a flipping engine. It turns out the rattle is the timing chain. It's costing me 2500 to have a new chain fitted from Mazda themselves. I will be sending them the bill but doubtful they'll care.

This is a very dodgy company and I have no idea how they are still trading. Stay well away and don't buy anything from them at any cost!!!

Stay well clear

If I could put 0 stars I really would!
Stay well clear from this company - they sold me a car with no brakes , were meant to pay for the repair. I never received the money back and had to take a £650 hit right before Christmas.
I also have 2 young children (which they were aware of) but yet they still had no issue with giving me a car with no brakes. Even after sending them a letter from citizens advice they still ignored me. Looks like I’m over £3000 down now!
I will be going to trading standards!!
Dodgy company and scummy scammers!!!!

Dishonest! STAY AWAY!

I enquired about a 2014 VW Tiguan, it was classified as a CAT D. When I asked for info on the damage I was told it came to them already repaired and they had no idea as to the damage……they are a car dealer.!!
I did a simple dvla check and the car had NO mot certificate!!
Smelling a rat…..I checked the reviews on this company and was astonished by the awful experiences others have had. These people are unscrupulous and have no regard to peoples safety.
I’m just glad I have been warned before even going to visit them. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

Absolutely Horrible Experience – Do NOT Buy from This Seller!

I bought a car from The Car Plug and it was a nightmare from the start. The car broke down the very next day after purchase, with a completely broken clutch. I immediately contacted the seller, hoping they would assist in resolving the issue, but I was completely ignored.

After reaching out several times without any response, I sent a first-class letter to inform them that I wished to return the faulty car. They confirmed receipt of the letter, but now they are denying that they ever received it! They have been totally uncooperative and unresponsive, making it impossible to return the car or even get a repair quote approved.

To make matters worse, I paid part of the price with my credit card and exchanged my old car, so I’m now left with a defective vehicle and no way of getting my money back. The seller is clearly avoiding responsibility and treating customers with utter disrespect.

I also took a look at their online reviews and it seems like I’m not the only one with this kind of experience. The Car Plug has consistently received poor reviews for bad customer service, unprofessionalism, and selling faulty cars. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs.

I will be pursuing legal action and a chargeback through my credit card provider. Do not make the same mistake I did—steer clear of this seller!

SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND IRRESPONSIBLE

Unsure why I’m even giving one star but so unprofessional!!!!!! Called this place for a car id seen on autotrader with the intention of a cash purchase. Somebody called me to very unprofessionally ask why I’d called and after me telling them I was interested in this particular vehicle, he told me he’ll have it ready for me to view but said to call him again closer to the time to remind him which I thought was totally not my job. Upon arrival, the car I drove down to see was NOT ready, nor what it looked like on the ad. My advice … DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR CARS FROM HERE. I did read all the reviews prior to visiting but I felt I’d give them the benefit of the doubt as I wasn’t too far away, but I truly feel for anyone who has driven miles and miles to be insulted, treated like you’re going in there to buy a phone or groceries 😂. People are visiting to purchase a vehicle. Please stop advertising when you cannot handle your customers with care or respect. There’s a lot of dodgy activity happening here so STAY WELL AWAY.

Shocking experience

Shocking experience. These guys attempted to defraud me. I listed my car on CarWow. They made an offer much lower than the asking price which I accepted as I had already bought a new car and was keen to get it off the drive. They sent round someone to 'appraise' the vehicle. He showed up, explained that he would be checking to see what the car was worth and asked me to go inside the house whilst he carried out his checks. He took the car out - no problems - then back on the drive proceeded to open the bonnet, fiddle about for 10 minutes and call me out because it was making a 'loud whirring sound' (that it's never made before). He then offered me £1000 less for the car based on the sound. Absolute fraudster... The car is working just fine again now after switching of the engine then taking it out for a spin around the block. Watch out for these guys.

Excellent BS'ers

Went to view a 645ci today. We were told over the phone prior to visiting that there was no damage to body work or clear coat, despite the autotrader pictures showing otherwise. To no surprise it was actually worse that I originally saw in the pictures.

They were very eager to try and offer all these extra things such as longer warranty, only as I found issues while inspecting. Both exhaust mufflers were absolutely terrible, with the right one completely rusted through and was free hanging.

They always knew just what to say regarding my concerns, luckily I caught on to them pretty quickly. Either they are very good at bs, or they are completely clueless.

To anyone reading this review, please for the love of god avoid buying from here, or if you must, bring someone who actually knows what they are doing!

Sold me a car that had significant structural damage

Sold me a car that had significant structural damage but did not make any effort to inform me of this. They did give me a refund. There was an invoice in the service book showing someone had bought the car a month prior and had obviously also returned it after finding out about the issues. The car is now back on autotrader.

SALVAGE cars sold as like-new

Dishonest sellers, they tired to sell me this 2020 BMW 320d mild hybrid as an excellent, low mileage, and no other problems. Have planned a 4h trip and loan to get the car. After paying for a full check online, the car turns out to be a SALVAGE and was bought from a scrap yard, serious damage to chasis and was repaired to look like new. Seriously questionable legally but I just dodged a bullet there. Check the car yourselves before you plan to buy anything, go with a mechanic, call the dealerships for history of the car and you will likely find out what they are hiding eventually. Good luck!
P.s. to be clear, this is about The Car Plug in Mytchett as they are denying this trustpilot is theirs.

Approach with caution

Bought a focus ST from these jokers and it’s been fault after fault after fault. £2000+ repair bill so far and still waiting for them to sort a turbo issue out which they agreed to sort from day 1 before purchasing. (over 2 months ago) the after sales is shocking. Tell you what you want to hear to get your money then they don’t want to know. My next step will be court action to claim any money paid for repairs. Still now the car is in an unusable state. Be careful with these and make sure you take a mechanic with you to check over the polished nail you’re purchasing.

Shocking after sales service

Shocking after sales service. Purchased a van from these guys, upon collection they said a sensor required changing and thats why the engine management light was on. They said they had ordered one and would ring me in a couple days to arrange to fit it and resolve. Forward wind several weeks and no contact, I have emailed,.sent messages.through the website, left voicemail and direct text messages all which have been ignored. Only after posting a negative Google review did I receive a text asking for details and stating they don't know who I dealt with, when I sent the paperwork with the signature on it they stated they would look into it and come back to me in the morning - still no response.

Bought a VW Golf from this garage

Bought a VW Golf from this garage. Had faults with electric windows and heated seat within the first 3 months of the garage's own warranty period. I called the garage number of times to report the issue but no one called me back as promised by the receptionist. Finally I was able to speak to the manager but he said I have to contact the 3rd party warranty company who told me that I would have to pay for the diagnostic check. But when I bought the vehicle from Car Plug they told me that they will fix any problem within in the first 3 months. Now they are saying this is not the case. And they said the sales person who we bought the car from did not give us correct information and he no longer works for them. Their after service is frustrating. Be aware of the company if you are unlucky to have a faulty car, you will have to pay for the repair.
