The Hags Kitchen is without doubt the very best food destination we have found in a very long time. Choice, service, staff and food quality have all obviously been carefully thought through and executed. Under the Hags umbrella is also the Nook, in the square in Castletownbere. This is just the most unpretentious, welcoming, delicious toastie, perfect cake little hideaway you could wish for ( without doubt the best hot chocolate EVER ).
If you are ever here for a while or just passing through treat yourself to Rhonwen’s finest food from homemade cakes to a stunning lamb Kofta, you won’t be disappointed, we live here and we never are.

The Hags Kitchen in Castletownbere-fabulous food for take away or dining in at Twomeys pub just across the road. Our favourites include the lamb kofta in their homemade flat bread and jackfruit burger which tastes like a slow cooked, pulled pork! Served with some of the nicest, proper chunky chips.
The Nook, which is open Thursday to Monday, offers a relaxed, cosy space to enjoy their homemade soups (just had the mushroom soup today and it tasted like mushroom!) and moreish toasties. The cinnamon roll is quite simply one of the best I have ever had. They also offer other gluten free cakes which are divine.
Definitely worth a visit to either or both and as we live in Castletownbere, we get to enjoy at least once a week!
