I ordered a leather bag ("The Hickory" messenger bag) that was shown on their website as being available in two colors that were both listed as "in stock - ready to ship." Three days later I checked the website and saw that the item was OUT of stock in both colors! I reviewed 'The Hickory' dimensions and realized it would actually be too small for what I wanted to carry, so I wrote them an email asking them to cancel my order. Got an email response that said "Due to the high volume of emails at this time, responses may take a little longer than usual."
The following (fourth post-order) day, I repeated my request for canceling and explained that it would be too small and is now listed as 'out of stock.' No response. Three days after that I received an email notice from the company that "Your order is ON THE WAY!" I wrote immediately and reminded them I had canceled the order. They again responded saying they had received too many emails and it will take a while to respond.
On 1/19/26 I got an email saying that they could not cancel my order because it had already shipped. Later that day it arrived on my doorstep, sent by a completely different company whose name was written in Asian characters - unreadable, untrackable. I still don't know where it came from.
They further said in subsequent emails that once they create a shipping label, it's too late to cancel whether they've provided the package to the shipper yet or not. No way that could be true - they could contact the shipper and tell them to cancel the shipment. Good luck canceling orders with these people.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
They have great customer service, but you can purchase the same product a lot cheaper from other companys. Most all of the products come from the same place, look into it and save your money.
My husband had a backpack he used and loved for years. It recently broke and he knew he needed a replacement. I saw several I liked and sent him links.
He sent me a link from The Real Leather Co. as he searched for backpacks. He decided he liked that backpack the best.
He appreciates a number of its features: room for a laptop, reading materials, numerous pockets, inside and out, and just the look of the leather. He is very pleased with it.
Our only issue was with the shipping. At some point the backpack seemed to just stop at a shipping hub, and remained there for a long time. I contacted the company and Rigelle from Customer Service continued to work on un-stalling the backpack. She was diligent about emailing and stayed with the issue, until we successfully received the backpack. I was very appreciative of her commitment to helping me.
This company is terrible, save your self a headache and order else where. I had an awful experience with this company and will never buy here again. I ordered a leather bag on Dec.16 as a gift… should have arrived before Christmas as stated in their delivery times. They sent multiple emails saying that it wouldn’t get there in time, many days after placing the order and asking what I would like to do. They stalled the shipping process so much with the emails so that they could deliberately ship LATE. In the last email, December 24 I said to cancel my order and not to ship. December 30th they shipped it ANYWAYS! I contacted them again and they were no help, they would not pay for return shipping and I had to pay for it myself… even though I cancelled this order! These people are awful and their customer service is terrible. Save yourself a headache and shop elsewhere.

If rating a zero was an option they would receive two. A warning to all. Do not purchase anything from this company. I have been trying to return a bag for a minute now. They do not have a phone number and any email inquiries go unanswered. Do yourself a solid and look elsewhere.

Would recommend this company. I had questions before ordering and Rigelle was able to answer them all. I felt comfortable ordering after our email discussions. I provided only 4 stars as there was no updates provided once item was shipped. Once again I reached out to Rigelle. My item arrived 11 days after ordering. My husband is thrilled with the Man Bag, loves all the pockets! There is one thing that is odd, there is no company logo or stamp on the item. Not sure if it was an over sight but we will keep it.

Terrible experience. Bought man’s satchel for my son for Hanukkah. Delayed shipping issues and received two days before Hanukkah. This retail $250 satchel came completely flattened and creased. The dust bag enclosed was not even large enough for the bag I ordered and was damaged while I tried to open this taped up bag! Ruined my celebration for my son as he received nothing but my apology for having choose. The wrong place to shop. Have tried repeatedly to get this returned and refunded (at their expense) to no avail. As I told them, I have received a $10 product from Amazon in better packaging. This beautiful bag DESERVES to be shipped properly. Customer service has been a fail. Total fail. Filed dispute with CC to try to get my money back.#worst ever
The warranty process itself was very straightforward. Rigelle provided frequent updates, asked reasonable questions about the issues I’d experienced, and overall made the process feel smooth and reassuring. From start to finish, it took about two weeks before the replacement bag was shipped.
Regarding the original bag, the belt‑loop keeper fell off within the first week. Thankfully, it was an easy fix on my end. A few months in, the stitching securing one of the shoulder straps began to fail. The rivet in the strap prevented a total failure, and I genuinely appreciate that the design included rivets for extra reinforcement.
The replacement bag came quickly and is generally very similar to the original, but I did notice a few small differences. The underside material of the flap has a different texture — not sure yet whether it’s an improvement, but time will tell. The replacement also doesn’t include the pen loops that were part of the original version.
Overall, despite the early issues, I’m pleased with how the company stood behind their product. Their customer service was responsive and acceptable, and the warranty experience was handled well. I’d recommend the product, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the replacement bag patinas and holds up over the next several years.
I purchased "The Standard" backpack last year to use as my everyday bag for work and gym. It's casual but classy enough for the office. I love it but unfortunately the front pocket liner tore causing things to fall to the bottom of the bag. I called customer service to see if they had any recommendations. I was fortunate enough to get Anne on the phone. She was so helpful! Anne called me back within a day to let me know that she was able to get The Real Leather Co. to ship me a brand new bag. Anne was professional and such a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend TRLC and if you can, ask for Anne.

This was my first purchase from The Real Leather Company and I chose them partly based on the great reviews; and those reviews were not wrong! I had splurged to purchase this Christmas gift for someone who has done so much for me this past year. The moment I hit the Buy button I realized I had failed to enter the discount code. I knew it was too late for a “do over” but when I received a thank you email from the company I replied to it, asking if they would consider honoring the discount after the fact. My request was forwarded to Customer Service and after that I received a couple of follow-up emails to let me know I was not forgotten. I honestly did not expect my request to be granted. In just a few days I received an email from Anne, my customer service rep, saying that my request was approved! Wow, Thank you, Annie, for your outstanding customer service!
As someone with a customer service background I can tell you this was truly exceptional service in today’s world!

Got a bill for $32.82 after the fact! My invoice clearly stated that shipping was free. Got a FEDEX Bill 1 week after receiving product.
Prompt shipping, beautiful bag,HOWEVER, the backpack strap broke during first use. There is NO PHONE NUMBER FOR THIS COMPANY, I emailed and filled out the contact us form, three days later I received a response to fill out a form. Filled that out and sent it back. Communication is only by email and they ONLY RESPOND ONCE PER DAY which is extremely frustrating. This was a birthday gift for my son, who left for a business trip the next day. Well his strap broke once on the plane. I will say that Rigelle, after several days of communication— because, again they only respond once a day, was very helpful. A replacement babe was shipped next day air to his hotel and a return label for the broken one. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN #1 the poor quality and #2 the lack of a direct conversation via phone or at least more than once a day responses. Lesson learned, shop locally…. It took 11 days for resolution
Giving this review 4 stars, not because of the product but because of the shipping. The original package was lost by the shipper. This was addressed by the seller with the assistance of Rigelle who was very helpful and maintained good communication on the status of the reshipped item. The backpack itself appears to to be a very well made product.
I first started ordering from The Real Leather Co. in 2022. I ordered The Vacationer for my son who was thrilled with the quality craftmanship, the classy look and the feel of the true leather. I decided to purchase another item this year. This time I picked an item that I thought would work but, when delivered it was smaller than I needed for the laptop (I forgot to look at the specfications). Rigelle Gomez walked me through the return process, gave me updates on it's status and final refund outcome. She was amazing. Truly a perfect representative for this outstanding company. I received my refund for the leather bag and ordered the Distressed Bag. I received this item within a few days of my order and it is absolutely gorgegous. If you are looking for beautiful leather goods with detailed and superior craftsmanship, this is the company to purchase your items.
