Great company, great manager, poor staff
I could not understand the great reviews because my experience was contrary to these. Then, I realised they're for other branches.
I made a notable amount of trips to the Store Room in Solihull and everytime someone was moving out. This is not a good sign, other places, I've constantly seen more people moving in than moving out. I'm not surprised either given my own experience.
Gary is an amazing Store Manager and provided a great reception. He made me feel I would be safe and my belongings also, as I would have exclusive access. However, once I was signed up, I did not get a hassle-free service. They all call themselves assistant managers and constantly harassed me with phone calls for my card details. I had paid a deposit, which would cover me for the next two months. They would not put any of this in writing and did not request it via email either. Never the less, I pay in advance and they said they do not manual payments. That's very strange because every other business does. They then said they would ask for me, and constantly rang me. Eventually, they left a voicemail to confirm that they can take manual payments. These staff are incompetent, if they are informing customers that they do not take manual payments. The nerve of Cadston to say that he arranged this for me, when I had this option all along because it would be part of Trading Standards. Initial payment is always done by manual payment, so I know manual payments can be taken because it had already been taken for me to move in.
Now I have moved out, it was confirmed with Gary my 14 days notice for my refund and days owing. However, Cadston is now saying that I need to come in person to give them access to my unit, when it is an electronic key. He says the refund can only be done over the phone or in branch. No other storage company has done this, they automatically put it back onto my account, once I have told them I have vacated.
I went on a Sunday morning and the store room was not open at all. I had to wait and eventually an Asian woman turned up because she was late. I hope it's not because she stayed late the night before because on my activity log, the door is locked at midnight. So, someone enters it?
My things had been moved around, so did she go through my clothes to borrow them? Some are even missing.
It is very strange that they need me to come in and give them access, when I said I have vacated and it's an electronic key.
It's a fantastic offer at 50% for 3 months, however, you only end up saving on £50, if they won't refund your deposit because they claim they don't have access to your unit. They have the unit and they have control of the access to the unit. Why would you still have access to that unit after you've vacated? Basically, they won't shut your account down and continue to charge you. I think it may have been infiltrated by workers from rival storage companies nearby, who harass the customers to drive the customers to them. They now want to ambush me, as they are saying they cannot close the account unless I come in.
