Toast has a lot to offer that could make it a great solution for my business. They have solicited me often on for six years, trying to get us to use their hardware and software. We have been using square we signed up with toast a little over a month ago and I say it hasn't gone well would be an understatement.
The sales people will tell you what you need to hear to sign up, but will not be there for you once your hardware ships
Your toast
On boarding consultant will coordinate things with other toast, staff and pass you around to multiple other people.
And most instances I find I will begin working on a project with someone At Toast and then the next time I'm to meet with them they are on vacation or out of the office and I would need to hook up with somebody else. Sometimes the new person is better or worse than the one you're dealing with. It's just the luck of the draw. Some of my major headaches and complaints have revolved around the initial set up.
My menu is still not working correctly. Toast has tied all of our items together instead of building them out separately so if I change the price on one item, it also changes the price on an item that's three sizes different than the one I'm adjusting. in my case, I can either charge you half the price I need to on one item or double the price I'm supposed to on another one since things are linked together.
If we had this to do all over, I would not sign up with toast in this contract is over. We will not be using them any longer the bad outweighs the good and they are disingenuous with their offers and promises.
Customer service is the best
Customer service is the best. Always pick up the phone or answer e-mail. We never felt alone.
It was just the system it was too much for our needs.

We have had Toast now for almost 7 years and is very good as far as their software goes. Different story when it comes to the hardware; is very expensive and it does not last long with the everyday duties of a restaurant. We are having to often replaced them(at $600) a piece. No fun but again their software is very efficient.
Below par
Today i found out that the I can only send SMS to all my customers at once. If i do not have enough SMS to send to everyone then i cant send to anyone. My SMS reciepients is close to 3000 bust since i only had 2100 sms left i cant send sms. What happens with the sms i dont use? Oh they just dissappear and my money that i was charged for them goes into Toast pocket.
Initial promises we're not able to be kept. After being with them for a while we have realized that Toast priority is finding ways to charge you more money. The equipment is over priced the customer service sucks. Everything is over priced for a below par service.
every time I call
every time I call, I sit on hold for up to an hour and get the pleasure of talking to somebody I can't understand! The customer service is a ZERO 00000 If you have a chargeback due to a customer scamming the system, you will lose automatically, and then #TOAST is going to charge you $15 for NOT backing you up!
Toast says they are built for restaurants but DON'T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT RESTAURANTS!!! They even lie to your face and make up reasons for an hour wait time, to only find out it wasn't true from another agent.
RUN RUN RUN! DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN THEIR CORPORATE SPEAK ABOUT HOW THEY WERE DISGNED JUST FOR YOU!! RUN RUN RUN!!!
I didn't get a resolution and I need more help
I didn't get a resolution and I have not heard back from anyone else about what I was needing.
Customer Service is ineffective
Customer Service is ineffective. Simple things like helping to close an open ticket at the end of the night takes hours keeping staff on payroll and managers up for hours past closing. Their customer service can not help with closing a ticket and they need to get a "specialist". They literally have only one specialist. I have been on the phone with customer service for an hour after waiting for half an hour on hold to talk to them. It should be simple and something they must be used to dealing with. They should give you gateway info so you can take care of it yourself.

it’s very difficult to communicate and I can never get a straight answer from one person. I have to be transferred multiple times it took me at least three months if not more to get referral information on the system.
Been using Toast for almost 6 years and…
Been using Toast for almost 6 years and they just DOUBLED their rates on software! 😡 A slight increase is understandable but DOUBLE is not! Not when it makes a $50 a month bill turn into $100!!! Time to shop around and find a company that doesn’t charge such a ridiculous rate for using the required Toast software on Toast equipment.
Can’t order because they are unable to…
Can’t order because they are unable to send a verification text. So the restaurant too is out of luck. Congratulations they screw customers and the customer’s customer.
Stay away!
The system itself is pretty good, as is the hardware. The major problem, and the reason for the one star review, is the absolutely disgraceful customer service and support!
We lost over £20,000 in the first month of using the system, due to complete negligence by toast staff in supporting us with basic issues, and set up of the toast system. We was literally abandoned after we received the hardware and banged our heads on the wall trying to get help.
We was then sent 2 additional KDS screens, which was an apparent mistake, and was then told they would be taken back, but instead, Toast slipped the subscription for the 2 additional screens into our monthly bill.
Further to this, I have been trying to contact several members of the toast team so we can send the system and hardware back (as we certainly won’t be using it again) and, surprise! Zero response from Toast.
The toast system also blocks many QR code/mobile order payments for no apparent reason, which Toast states is a bug they’re working on, but of course, I never received answers for questions I posed on this matter.
Do not waste your time or money dealing with these cowboys!

Toast has a great platform
Toast has a great platform. The kitchen integration, toast delivery, ability to take credit cards, and the great customer service make Toast top notch.
Catch 22
Difficult to file a complaint when something goes wrong with the delivery they organize thru doordash or other service.
Toast is Burnt
Toast is hit or miss. Recently - bad. Often all of the order is not picked up. You have to go through the restaurant you order from to get a refund when their drivers mess up. We had 2 missing items, got credit from restaurant, then they tacked on a $15 delivery fee! It was not on the initial order receipt on a $100+ order. weird and deceptive. We will no longer use nor trust this delivery service.
You have no support
You have no support. You have to do all the upkeep yourself. Your referral program is to complicated to collect. You go through reps consistently. You’re bigger than you can handle.
Lack of support
Because when we calling in have to tell the whole story every time. If you a point of contact to get that know the story and business.
