We added the Toja Grid bench to our deck this week. It matches our existing deck perfectly as we were able to use wood that was left over from the project when we installed our deck two years ago. Love that the length is customizable! It looks like we planned the bench from the beginning, you’d never know it was an afterthought. Thank you for making such a quality product! Very satisfied.

The first set of brackets were pretty good. The last set of wall brackets had a lot of slag on the weld . Really looks pretty bad. Won’t buy again.

We ordered a Custom Sail from Toja, and ran into a problem, our pergola is roughly 110” x 133’’, so firstly we bought a 10’ x 8’ Pre-made Toja Sail at Home Depot, but the actual size (which is not listed on the box) was roughly 9’ x 7’, so way to small, no biggie and we returned it to Home Depot. We then went to the Toja Grid website and saw you could order Custom sails and we did order a custom sail inputting the 133.5” x 110” for the exact inside dimensions of the pergolas. In one section of the order system, it says input the exact dimensions but much farther down it also says it will not accept decimals.
When the Custom Sail arrived, we were stunned to see that the sail was 48” x 110”, and immediately went to check on what we received back as a confirmation. In all the emails there was no confirmation on size.
We contacted Toja Grid Customer Service and with lots of back and forth the blame for the mis-order, we believe was a shared mistake. The Toja Custom Sail input defaults back to 48’ if the number put in is not a whole number, I input 133.5 and did not notice that it changed back to 48” as I move on to the second measurement. There is a confirmation screen that lists the input numbers, and I simply did not pay attention to it closely, my fault.
I hit confirm and the wrong order was made. My issue here is that the error was easily overlooked and instead of defaulting back to 48’ on an error, the input screen should simply remain blank so the order could not be filled until the correct number format is put in.
We offered to split the cost on a replacement sail understanding that we were partially to blame, Toja Grids stand was we are fully to blame and offered us a 15% discount on a $380 sail (after we had already paid for the mis-sized sail at $280) which for us was a non-starter
Ultimately, we bought a sail from Amazon for $50, with a full refund and return policy and my advice is avoid the Toja Grid Custom Sail system and shop around for any sail as their sails are very pricy.
We purchased a 4” x 4” Toja Grid kit from Home Depot and added additional 4” x 4” Tees, Bases and wall brackets to create a custom pergola in our odd, shaped patio area from Lowes and Toja Grid directly. Although very pricy all the steel parts are very well made and Toja supplies Stainless steel screws to fasten the wood including caps to cover the screws, so they match the colour (Matt Black) brackets, this is great forethought, nothing worse than using screws that rust outdoors. All the Toja Brackets were very well made and look very sharp. Based on some build videos I watched we took the advice of the contractors and used a router with a corner bit to knock all 4 sharp corners off all the pressure treated 4’ x 4’, this made it a breeze to slide the brackets on.
Make sure the wood you build with is dry, ours started to twist and split because of how wet it was.

You never send enough screws with your kits and your shipping is so slow

We live in Colorado and found Toja at the Ace Hardware. It wasn’t quite as easy as advertised however, things went together and we love the system! Using 6x6 x12 posts We attached two anchors to our deck and two anchors to our house. We ran 4 - 2x6 rafters and then ordered wave sales. Our backyard faces the east and oh man does this system keep the sun away from us. What a quality product thanks Canucks:)

Absolutely stellar product. We used the 6x6 pergola system to create two bays on top of our raised deck. The brackets make the entire structure feel so solid and the results are as gorgeous as they are study. I have recommended this product to the MANY neighbors who have asked and all of our family and friends who have commented on how beautiful it is.

Although the product says to assemble on the ground and tip it up, we found it easier to set the post bases and assemble each cross beam, as the whole structure was really quite weighty and impossible to assemble then lift onto the deck platform nearest the side of our house. Good thing our deck has 9 massive footers to hold the weight.

Took a bit to figure out and then BOOM, built in a day. This system is brilliant!

I get it that Toja is more expensive than other brands, but we created a pergola that was 8'h x 12' x 13' with 6" x 6" supports and the beefiness of the Toja hardware is absolutely a must. I couldn't imagine a smaller base and corner bracket for these very heavy redwood beams.

The instructions are very good and easy to follow, but it takes more time to put together that 45 mins. Very misleading!!!! It took me at least 45 mins to just screw all the screws in with a drill. The problem I had the most with was my 4x4x8 post were still wet and after 4 days out in the sun was still very hard to get into the frames. Next time I will borrow my next door neighbors sander and grind a little off the post. Other than that I love the product.

Our Toja purchase was easy and we were kept informed about the delivery. The product seems to be working well so far and we are excited to begin using our new shade structure!

looking forward to install...product delivered on time, and at no charge!...particularly well packaged...did online research before ordering/ very impressed with quality of craftsmanship!

Great, well made product. Brackets are of high quality excellent fit/finish. Customer service was also very helpful when UPS lost one of the boxes in my order. I had a new package on the way in a day or so. I would definitely buy from this company again.

Easy assemble with the right amount of people…if you are using 6x6 Timbers then use 6 people to assemble

Great product but beware the brutal return policy. 14 days only, and there will be a 20% restocking fee after that and you must pay shipping back to Canada which will be $$$. I needed to alter the layout so I tried to start a return on some items less than 24 hours after the 14 days but they insisted on the restock fee. Better have all your ducks in a row before ordering. Seems there’s similar products on Amazon where you won’t eat a huge cost if you need more time to pull this together properly.

Update: Toja waived the restock and shipping fee after this review. I very much appreciated this as I love the system.

Very well built and solid. I used the 6*6 kit and I am very happy with the way it came out.

So far so good. I'm waiting for my windows before I install my Toja system. I will send you pictures whaem we finish the project.
