Save food, get surprises!

There is a lot to be said for saving food excesses from going into landfill, and I also enjoy the somewhat random nature of the foods I get.
I've had parcels as well as local offerings, and nearly all have been very good.

Original Value Not as Stated

Original value of the surprise bag was less than the stated amount.

The variety in the package was disappointing. A chocolate glazed donut, Boston cream donut and 29 plain Timbits + 2 icing sugar Timbits.

TGTG is awesome.

TGTG is awesome. To me operating and navigating the site couldn’t be better. There’s only been the odd issue with the odd restaurant. Last issue was Hellcrust Pizza on Lougheed Hwy in Maple Ridge. A surprise bag was advertised in the picture and in the description but when I was picking it up they said there’s no surprise bag and they only do pizzas. Since the transaction had already completed I took the pizza. The pizza was okay and I’ve gotten more from other pizza parlours.

The order ID is extremely unclear—so blurry that I can’t be certain which stage the order is currently at.
The ads started appearing too soon.

A clear and seamless app experience is essential, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused during your pickup.

Always try something new…

I used the app whenever I don’t feel like to cook. There aren’t many stores participating in my area, also the pickup times aren’t that convenient. But when I visit my daughter I can find quite a bit participating stores. Some are really good, I think it helps the stores advertise their products.

I was very disappointed with my last…

I was very disappointed with my last purchase from our local bakery. Apart from two small pies the rest was bread. The bakery is stocked with interesting cakes and pastries but 90% of our bag was white bread.
Very ordinary experience.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your recent experience at your local bakery was so disappointing and that your bag consisted almost entirely of white bread with very little variety.
While the contents of our Surprise Bags depend directly on whatever unsold surplus a store has left at the end of the day—which often includes everyday staple items like bread—we completely understand how receiving such a uniform selection when cakes and pastries were on display felt underwhelming. Every bag should still provide an enjoyable experience and meet its guaranteed retail value.
If you feel your bag fell short of its promised retail value or if you need any assistance, please reach out to our support team directly through the Help Centre in the app by selecting "Need help?" on this specific order or via Profile > Manage Account. We appreciate your support in the fight against food waste.

Disappointed …

I ordered an ambient bag from Morrisons last night. I was very disappointed to discover my ambient bag contained 36 bags of crisps. I know it’s pot luck what you get but honestly this was a joke! If this what my branch has to offer then it’s not worth bothering.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sincerely sorry to hear about your experience at Morrisons and completely understand your disappointment with receiving 36 bags of crisps in your ambient bag.

We collaborate closely with our partners to encourage a balanced and practical mix of surplus items in every Surprise Bag. While contents depend on unsold stock at the end of the day, packing an excessive quantity of a single product makes it very difficult for one household to consume, which undermines the core mission of rescuing food.

If you have not done so already, please reach out to our support team via the Help Centre in the app with your order details and a photo of what you received. We review every ticket individually and will share this direct feedback with the Morrisons store management team to guide them on assembling more practical, varied bags. We appreciate your patience while our team works through current requests.

Your feedback is essential in helping us improve quality and variety across our platform. Thank you for your support in reducing food waste, and we hope your next rescue offers a much better experience.

I love good to go

I love good to go. It's gives me a chance to purchase items at a very low cost. The donut shop (Jupiter donuts) cashier was not friendly at all.

Yet again order cancelled last…

Yet again order cancelled at the last minute though still being advertised online. I have had about 5 tries of this app now and with the exception of 1 they have all been cancelled by the venue at the last minute. We need to give 2 hours notice of cancellation but the venues can cancel last minute sometimes when you've already left for pick up. By contrast I've now started trying the Olio app which is reliable with friendly helpful staff, my sat nav got lost on one pick up, for free things, but Angela, the food hero, was very, very patient and with her help I managed to collect my things. The quality was excellent from Olio, which surprised me on free things. I think I'll stick to Olio as too good to go just a waste of time. To give tgtg credit they did respond to my review promptly but their suggestion that I go back on the app and waste more time filling in a help report so they can investigate isn't going to happen wasted enough time already. They have my account details so if we're interested have all the information they need anyway.

We are so deeply sorry to hear about your repeated frustration, and we completely understand why having four out of five orders cancelled at the last minute—especially when you have already set off—feels like a total waste of your time.
You raise an entirely fair point about the double standard. While users are asked to cancel with two hours' notice to allow other community members to rescue food, it is unacceptable when stores cancel with virtually no warning, leaving you mid-journey, while their listings still appear active.
We take full responsibility for the reliability of the partners on our platform. While our model is rooted in unpredictable surplus, store managers are required to monitor stock responsibly and cancel well ahead of time. Allowing bags to remain listed or cancelling on customers who are already en route goes against our partner service agreements.
Every case is reviewed individually by our team. Please reach out to us through the Help Centre in the app and report these specific orders. Our Customer Operations team will review the venues involved, enforce stricter oversight regarding their listing management, and ensure all your refunds are confirmed.
We genuinely appreciate your honest feedback. While we are glad you were able to save food through Olio, we are truly sorry that our partner reliability fell short and cost us your trust.

First order placed

First order placed. A local hotel breakfast surprise bag.
App is user friendly to set up "favorites" in your area. Ordering and collection was easy, straightforward and swift.
You receive confirmation and a receipt.
Quality and selection of food was enjoyable and worth the money.
If you hate waste and like a surprise for an affordable price, then give this a go.
