I’m relatively new to this opportunity

I’m relatively new to this opportunity. I believe in the accuracy on how they evaluate our work. The emails they send after every successful output are helping us improve. I gave it a four for now because I need more experience.

This is a scam!

This company is gaining from actual work done by people who they don't pay based on 'quality guideline' that's simply unrealistic and arbitrary.

1. We stand firmly by our commitment to high standards, analogous to the ones required when taking a job test. We are unapologetic about expecting high-quality work because this is what enables us to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

2. In terms of rejected work, we would like to highlight that it does not provide any benefits to us. When a piece of work fails to meet our standards, it is either refunded to the customer or sent back to the pool for further proofreading. It's worth noting that such incidents actually result in a loss for us, as we pay out 80% for rejected work. Please refer to our AI Quality Check Policy for more details. Additionally, the process of reproofing and resubmission leads to delays in project delivery, which can result in unsatisfied customers.
You can read more at http://www.transcriptionstaff.com/aiqualitycheck.pdf

This cycle is not only unfavorable for our business but also detrimental to our commitment to delivering quality work. Hence, we do not hesitate in ending our collaborations with freelancers who consistently fail to deliver work that meets our high standards.

Suggestion for Closed-Captioning

I am very happy that TranscriptionStaff has the feature that allows audio projects to be downloaded. It allows me to clean or compress the audio using Audacity; allows me to use Whisper AI to transcribe difficult audio with hard accent and to transcribe names, places and terminologies that a non-English native may find unintelligible; and to which I write Python codes to convert SRT into readable English sentences. I am supposed to study online courses in Software Engineering but I find myself enjoying transcribing audio to help people--especially in the legal or court proceedings. Today, I did not take a single project because I did not sleep for two days due to my recent projects.

Suggestion for Close-Captioning:
1) I wish there is a way to see the Audio Waves so that adjusting caption-timings will be faster.
2) I wish there is a way to inject a Subtitle Edit (SRT) file so that there is no need to copy-paste each line from the already-corrected/proofread Whisper AI-generated SRT.

So far, I am very thankful to TranscriptionStaff.

Best regards,

Alexander

I like that Transcription Staff do pay…

I like that Transcription Staff do pay for work done,
But I don't like that my account was terminated for "low quality" work which was/is completely false.
You locked out a very dedicated transcriber and video captioner with more than 4 years work experience - even proven on your platform.
So Please, 🙋I can do High-quality work. Kindly check my account and the quality of jobs submitted and reconsider: my account if8875.

The process of locking people out is Highly Unfair on part of the staff.
You say, "We allow a maximum of 1 mistake in a highly Challenging task"- How Uncouth? Most companies give warnings up to 3 times, especially if you have a Great record of Numerous 4 and 5 stars like I did.
Could this be the reason you keep hiring and Dismissing? Cause human is to Error- That'll never change.

Anyone who's been approved for work at Transcription Staff as a Transcriber, please just know that it's never gonna last. With that statement, that's a Guarantee.

Thanks & Regards.

We don't dismiss contractors based on the outcome of a single task. Instead, we gather comprehensive data and conduct evaluations with the help of proofreaders, scaling ratings according to the complexity of each file. Our goal is to employ only the best transcribers, and to be considered for hiring, we allow a maximum of one mistake in a highly challenging test. We maintain the expectation that this same standard of high-quality work will continue when you begin working on real assignments. Regrettably, this hasn't been reflected in the performance associated with your account.

Out of four feedbacks received from proofreaders, two have been negative and one was neutral, yet scored you 3 out of 5 stars. Our system, unfortunately, treats a 3-star rating as a negative one. Only one of your ratings has been positive. Our objective is to work with individuals who consistently achieve ratings of 4 or 5 stars, with a 3-star rating being an infrequent occurrence. I apologize, but our standards are quite stringent; we refuse to settle for less than exceptional quality and are focused on recruiting only the top 1% of transcribers.

P.S. Since the test is only one minute long, we permit one error. (0.5% error rate) However, when it comes to your work, a score of 3 indicates an error rate exceeding 3% - that's 600% more errors compared to your test. This suggests that you either did not proofread your work or did not pay sufficient attention to the task at hand..

I applied for an account on May. After submitting the given test, I received a notification test indicating that I'll receive an email within four business day's.

Since then, I've got no response from them. I'm still hanging in there, hoping they'll let me join their team team of transcribers.

Useless

Don't waste your time with these cowboys.

Just a few of the incredible things you will experience:

You will find only few jobs with good enough audio to be able to proofread successfully. On their website, they say, “No extra charge for poor quality audio.” It wouldn't surprise me if they actually gave discounts for poor audio as well. It's the only explanation as to why so many of the jobs have such bad audio.

For transcribers, they have a bizarre QC AI system that deliberately inserts extra words, changes punctuation and deletes parts of your work. Your work will then be proofread by inexperienced proofreaders who don't understand this bizarre system and will mark your work down for the deliberate errors put in by Transcription Staff's idiotic QC AI. The proofreader will think these deliberate errors are your work and give you a low rating for it. Your rating will be lowered, and you are only able to appeal this rating if it's lower than 3 stars.

For proofreaders, they will give you a pay rise after a year of 10%, but they don't tell you they are going to lower the pay rates for the jobs by more than 10%. In your first year you will get jobs with difficult speaker accents and audio conditions and the multiplier for such jobs, which they use to calculate the pay for the job, will be quite good, at least 4x, 5x or 6x for difficult audio. After you get your pay rise, they will lower the multiplier for difficult jobs. While you may still find jobs with 4x multiplier, the difficult jobs with bad audio or several speakers and difficult accents will now be set at 2x, 2.8x or 3.6x.

When you inevitably have a job rejected, you are left guessing as to what their problem is. There is no detailed feedback. You are just given a bizarre email that says, “Opportunity for improvement,” which is the total opposite of what you will actually get. There is no justification for their decision, no specific feedback that allows you to know what they think you did wrong. At best, you'll get some vague intimation that you didn't read the client's notes or internal memo instructions. At worst, you won't even get this, but just a vague list of all the things that they want you to watch for in the future. You will just be left wondering at what they decided your errors were. There's no possible way to know what it is from the vague non-feedback they give you.

The feedback for successful jobs is equally laughable. If you are lucky, you will get feedback from a QC that can actually type more than two words. These range from the verbose," Okay work quality," to the minimalist, “Okay work.” You are supposed to use this crucial information to improve your work.

Good luck with these Chinese cowboys.

I really have a problem comprehending your review.

"Poor work from them"?
"Wanted standard English"?
"a friend.. They told me"?
"quality control don't understand English"?

"Full of grammatical errors and misheard words." - These work are initially transcribed by AI, not by humans. Your task is to accurately transcribe the audio. They are labeled as 'A.I. Generated'.

If the poorly transcribed work is done by a human (No A.I. Generated Label), you must immediately report it to the live chat staff. This will allow for the work to be rolled back and redone, and the respective transcriber will be investigated and potentially dismissed. This is clearly written in your guide.

Our Quality Control (QC) personnel, who consistently yield excellent ratings, are promoted based on big data analysis of their performance.

Regarding rejected files, as per our AI quality check policy, we pay 80% for them. We believe this is fair compensation for the work completed, even if the output does not meet the required quality standards. Please refer to our AI Quality Check Policy for more details. We also urge our transcribers to continuously strive for quality work to minimize rejections.

Your English is full of grammatical errors, and you do not have knowledge of our staff guide. As such, we stand by our decision to terminate your account.

It's truly beneficial to utilize an open platform like Trustpilot, enabling us to hear the diverse perspectives from our subcontractors.

Ultimately, we are on the lookout for the top 1% of transcribers who can consistently ensure high-quality deliverables. Thus, we make no apology for being vigorous in our pursuit of excellence.

Job availability and consistency of Payment

Job availability and consistency of payment is a huge plus. Thank you for that. Just a few comments: (1) There are some jobs that the system rejects due to AI QC mistakes. Those jobs I have encountered were thoroughly checked and made sure there was no AI mistakes (2) Paypal fee (3) Received an email regarding a job that passed QC then after 5 minutes, received an email saying that same job did not pass (4) Rarely, AI Quality Check payment guarantee not included in the payment received.

Overall, I would like to thank you for this opportunity to earn. God bless you

Don't apply. Total scam.
They will be nice to you during the application period but after you get "hired", they will find all possible ways to not release your payment. They will terminate you for a simple inquiry. PLEASE DON'T APPY!

As you've mentioned, there are indeed three primary reasons for account termination as per our company policy:

File hoarding: This refers to the practice of picking up a file and not working on it. It's unfair to other staff members who could have worked on those files. We generally enforce this rule when all files have been taken and none are available for others.

Fraud: This includes activities like submitting work that's transcribed using AI.

Submitting incomplete work: This hinders the delivery of a complete product to our clients.

These rules are put in place to ensure a fair working environment and maintain a high standard of quality in our deliveries. We've clearly stated these rules in our guidelines, and all transcribers should be aware of them before they start working.

Sucks ass

Sucks ass. I'm a proofreader and they pay SO LOW it's not worth your time. They only pay you for audio hours NOT the hours you actually work on and expects you to deliver 99% quality all the time. If you don't get in that, they reject your work and you DON'T get paid for it. So if the transcriber is crap, or the speaker/audio quality sucks, and you work on like less than an hour of audio for 3 hrs because you have to correct everything, you only get paid around $1. Same, if you work on an hour audio for example, for 8 hours, and you dont get into 99% quality, you get paid NOTHING. Then they want you to do at least 2 hrs audio a week but theres not a lot of things to work on, or youre not allowed to do because you need to get more ratings. JUST RUN AWAY from this site, don't apply. I have tried this before, worked for long hours everyday for almost a week, system logged it on for just 2 audio hours and I was paid barely $10. Even begging for a day would get you more money.

I'm sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. We understand your frustrations and appreciate your feedback. Here's our perspective on the issues you raised:

The high standard of quality we require is reflective of the test that potential staff members take when applying. During the onboarding process, we only allow one error. This is a clear indication of the quality we expect in actual tasks. With a 98% rejection rate for applicants, we have a pool of highly competent staff members who have proved their ability to deliver high-quality work.

The job and compensation are tailored for experienced transcribers who can efficiently transcribe and proofread files. Based on industry standards, an experienced transcriber should be able to transcribe an hour of low-quality audio in about 10 hours. The proofreading of the same should take a maximum of 5 hours. Our pay rates are designed with this standard in mind. We acknowledge that audio quality and other factors may affect this, but we aim for this as a reasonable average.
