I had a query that was resolved quickly and efficiently by chat message with a real person. It was such a relief to get put directly in touch with a human being, rather than having to go through a chatbot first.

Avoid Triodos Bank at all costs

Avoid Triodos Bank at all costs. They blocked my account multiple times without clear explanation, and I noticed money disappearing from my account with no proper accountability. On top of that, they added a CIFAS fraud marker against me without justification. This has made it extremely difficult for me to open a bank account elsewhere.
What’s worse is how unresponsive they are — it took them 3 months to reply to my request to remove the marker, and even then they refused, offering no real reason or evidence. I'm still trying to challenge this, but the lack of transparency and fairness is shocking.
I wouldn’t recommend this bank to anyone. Their actions have had serious consequences on my financial life. Be warned.

1) Despite confirmation that my cheque book would be printed in a certain format, was not done.
2) Stopped offering overdrafts within weeks of opening - although not in need of one, I thought that is what Banks are for?
3) Promotion of LGBTQ+ in no way should be connected to a Bank. It should be there for all customers, not just for a minority.

As part of our security procedure, we print chequebooks with the name provided on the account.

Regarding our overdraft offering, in line with our commitment to delivering positive impact, whilst remaining efficient, we must prioritise certain product areas. Therefore, after careful consideration we removed the overdraft from our personal current account in June 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience the removal of this option may have caused.

Great company to bank with

I've only recently started using the app, which makes managing my account easier than having to log in online every time, and Toni in Customer Services has been very helpful too. Highly recommended.

Impactful, user-friendly banking

I switched to Triodos about a year ago wanting to make a more positive impact with my money (which has definitely happened) expecting it to be much like any other bank, but have been very happily surprised at how good banking with Triodos has been aside from the positive impact. Their customer service is excellent, the switch over service was entirely hassle free, I've since begun using several other services (fixed rate savings account and ISA), the app is much more user-friendly than my previous bank (Santander), and I really like their communications with customers, for example tips on how to be more sustainable and stories of the impact that their investments have. I couldn't recommend Triodos enough!

Not easy to make payments to investment platforms

I have had a triodos current account for several years. If you are using your current account to fund investments like stocks and shares or crypto, it is a very frustrating experience. Firstly, triodos does not appear on the list of banks of many investment platforms for instant transfers. You can do the faster payments which are almost always rejected for suspicious activity. You have to ring the bank to get it cleared. Their fraud detection is too sensitive - surely if i clear a payment to a website by calling triodos, then later make another payment to the same site it shouldn't be flagged again. 0% interest on current account is also poor.

Ethical but fifty years in the past

Where to start? I applied last Sunday for an account as I was bought in by their ethical stance, ideal I though and was prepared to transfer around four to five thousand into an account with them. On their website they say it takes two working days. However as of today I was getting nowhere with the same message on the app stating that "my account was being set up." So I rang Triodos, spoke to a very polite and helpful gentleman (hence the two stars), who proceeded to tell me they can't confirm my address and required me to post a bank statement to them or other such document. He said they sent me a letter on Monday to this effect, which is still not received. Why can't they send an email or a secure message? Plus I find it bizarre , I've lived where I am for 11 years, have several credit cards and other bank account while I'm also a company director for three companies, all listed on Companies House. I really can't understand why they can't confirm this without this archaic method of providing additional data and information. We all know the postal service is the least secure way to send personal information, unless you pay nearly £9 to use guaranteed next day delivery! As I said the two stars are for the gentlemen who assisted me over the telephone, so far Triodos make me feel as if I've got back to the 80s to bank.
