Scam partners

Scam partners.
Word of warning. When you use the Book and Go feature on trivago they use a booking service named algotels. Algotels is a scam website that is famous for taking your money and not following through with your reservation. Or canceling it for no reason. The Book and Go is usually the lowest price but don't do it.

⚠️ BEWARE – WE WERE ROBBED AT GUNPOINT! ⚠️

⚠️ BEWARE – WE WERE ROBBED AT GUNPOINT! ⚠️

Stay Date: October 18, 2025
Location: LEVEL Hotel, Downtown Los Angeles, California

I’m writing this review as a serious warning to anyone considering staying at LEVEL Hotel Downtown LA. My husband and I were robbed at gunpoint right in front of this property, and the hotel’s lack of concern and follow-up has left us traumatized and deeply disappointed.

We arrived on Saturday, October 18, 2025, to attend the rooftop movie event. The movie was sold out, but we decided to enjoy the property anyway and booked a one-bedroom suite for the night. About four hours later, we went outside to get a phone charger from our car.

As we were returning, a car sped toward us and blocked the entrance. Six armed men jumped out and pointed guns at us, demanding everything we had. I tried to swipe my key card to get inside, but the door locked automatically. We were trapped outside, terrified.

Security only came out as the robbers were leaving. The guard apologized and admitted they had seen what was happening, saying, “This has happened before,” and even mentioned a previous guest who was beaten during a similar attack.

I immediately went to the front desk to explain that I didn’t feel safe and wanted a refund. I was told only a manager could handle that — but the manager wasn’t there until the next morning. When I returned, I was passed from one manager to another until I finally spoke with “Hadi,” who said he’d call me back within 24 hours. It’s now been a week later, and the issue is still unresolved. Got Trivago involved they only passed me around also not giving the refund

Hotel also refused to give me a copy of the incident report, and despite being told the police would be contacted, no report was filed. I truly believe the staff avoided calling to prevent alarming other guests.

To make matters worse, the area outside the hotel is unsafe. People hang out in front of the entrance all night, drinking and smoking, and non-guests freely walk in and out of the lobby. Security only watches the valet area — not the main door where the attacks happen.

I paid $295 for the room, and didn’t even enjoy the stay the because we feared for our safety. There’s no complimentary breakfast, and no effort from management to make things right.

We recently lost our son to violence less than a year ago, so this experience was even more painful. No one should have to go through this — especially while paying for what’s advertised as a “luxury” stay.

This property may look beautiful, but the surrounding area is dangerous, and management is unresponsive and unempathetic. Please, BEWARE AND STAY SAFE. Your life is worth more than a “luxury” stay.

Trivago terrible customer service

I was working between Trivago and Booking.com for the best deal. I put my date in both sites when I switched back to Trivago it looked like the best deal. I didn't realize the site put in a different date just 5 days away. My actual reservation was suppose to be almost 3 months out. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until I hit confirm. Immediate I realize what happened and searched and found their customer support and called them. My request has been file now 5 days, they said they would contact me in at most 48 hours. I did receive an automated reply it says ("Your request (13218087) has been updated. To add additional comments, reply to this email). Now I have been trying to confirm my date has been updated via email, but keep getting this same response. I did call again only to find my date has not been changed. Their customer service says they can only escalate requests to their urgent response team. You can not talk to this team you only get automated responses that don't make sense. My rating should be "0" Do not use Trivago!!! Terry

Trivago cannot be trusted.

On 30/09/25 I made a reservation with Algotel using Trivago. On checking my credit card I discovered that I had been charged TWICE. Too late I checked on Algotel and found only negative reviews. A company is only as good as its agents. I will never use Trivago again.

Never again

Never again. I would rather sleep in a snow bank than use this website to book a room. I made a search using google to find a room for the night and Trivago was the best price, so I click, clicked, booked. I arrived to the hotel minutes later only to discover the booking I made was for 3 weeks in the future because when I took the link, the dates changed on their own. Initially, I was supported well and Trivago accepted my explanation and agreed to make a new booking for that night at about the same price and cancel the future booking, they assured me, even though it was a non-refundable booking, that because I was booking again right away, that I could likely receive a refund, if the hotel agreed. Now, for two weeks, I have been back and forth with Trivago by email trying to recover the funds and am getting run-around after run-around and even though all was clear in the beginning, they are now refusing to refund me or call the hotel (I called the hotel and they said Trivago has not called them) and the support person is taking days to get back to each of my replies. I am sure they are running the clock down so they can further claim that a refund cannot be given due to the length of time it has taken or some scam like that...never ever again. This company is a complete shyster and hack firm.

Deceptive practices

I found a price for a room through a Google search and then accessed Trivago. The dates were very clearly stated on both Google and then Trivago's room selection page. I selected a room and then upon checkout confirmed everything. Then when I received the confirmation email, the dates were WRONG! I called them immediately and their customer support person said because it was non-refundable, they could not change it and I would have to rebook. Obviously, I am going to chargeback as this is clearly deceptive and completely unprofessional. Oh by the way, they ask for a tip on their booking site. Utter scam.

Highlighted on a few occasions now the price being displayed is different to when you click into the link. This was for a Trivago own offer too, £4 difference at checkout. Not the first time, customer service response inadequate.

Booked and paid but the hotel was not booked

I used Trivago to book a trip to Melbourne. I booked and paid a month before the trip. I thought it was strange that full payment was taken as it was free cancellation up to the day before. When I arrived at the hotel they had no booking for me. I was not able to contact the company it was booked through. The phone number said the call could not be connected. I had to pay again to stay at the hotel, I only stayed one night and went home. It ruined the experience. I found the companies website and worked out how to change the language to English, it is a French company. I was able to make contact and they advised they were not able to make the booking. They would have known that a month ago. They finally offered a refund. I am still waiting on the refund. This experience has lost my trust in Trivago. I was able to get cheaper rates directly through the hotel.

Travigo hotel price always omits actual taxes and fess

Any hotel booking done via Trivago will ALWAYS end up with extra fees when checking in at the hotel counter, the inital low price is always a lie.
I booked several different hotels in Orlando flroida USA during September 2025, and I was always forced to pay extra taxes and fees.
One was initially $38 at Travigo deals, then hotel added extra $20 fees&taxes , so actual total was $58 per night.
Another was initally $63 from Travigo deals, then hotel added extra $13 fees&taxes, so actual total was $76 per night.

So be warned, Travigo deals hotel prices NEVER actually include the hotel taxes and fees, it always end up higher at the end, and be prepared to pay extra out of your pocket!

I made a pre-paid reservation for a resort hotel through Trivago. Reservation was made 6 months in advance. When I went to the hotel on reserved day, the hotel manager told me there is no reservation. When asked what is travel agent, I replied, it is Trivago. The manager, shaking his head, indicated this wasn’t the first time there have been troubles with Trivago. Of course, I immediately called Trivago customer service. Trivago indicated it will solve the problem in 15 to 30 minutes. After waiting for Trivago to act upon the problem for 5 hours in hotel lobby, the hotel manager informed me Trivago has not done anything to solve the problem. The manager indicated there has been no phone calls or emails from Trivago while I was waiting. Trivago just took my money and did not make reservation on my behalf. To make things worse, Trivago indicated to me this is non-refundable. To get my money back, I have to file a small court claim at my local court. My recommendation is that just stay away from Trivago. It is a fraudulent company.

hassan the worker needs sacking

HASSAN THE HOTEL RECEPTIONIST are really rude, I currently have a sick bug and don’t have a transfer until 2:45 and have been told I cannot sit or lay down on the sofa in reception despite being told to leave my room because they wouldn’t allow us to purchase a late checkout. His name is Hassan, he was really rude and when I asked for his name he rudely, sexually blowed a kiss and waved and laughed. No wonder this hotel has bad reviews and no one recommends to stay here. The cleaners are the only nice people in this hotel. Hassan needs his job revoked and needs to learn some manners.

Complete scam

Complete scam. I booked with them and cancelled and they gave me an e-credit for the price of the booking. The e-credit is not redeemable on their website you have to go through customer service to redeem it. Customer service won't redeem it with you over the phone; they ask you to email the hotel and the dates you want to stay at, then they charge an additional amount over email, which costs more than the e-credit deducts.

They're trying to charge me $395 for a place that costs $220 on their website.

Keep in mind you're chatting with AI bots and foreigners over the phone. This business should be shut down.
