Don't waste your time

Don't even bother using this app because the odds are your food will not arrive or be delivered to the wrong address followed by the delivery person being rude to you and blaming you for their mistake. Their customer service is of the poorest quality possible. This has happened to me so many times now that I've lost count so I no longer will patronize this scam of a company

don't bother with these crooks

. Absolutely garbage app.

Out of five orders placed through this app, THREE have been missing multiple items, sometimes high value. The first two times i was issued refunds for these items and credits, which made me stupidly try the app again.

Today I placed an order through Caviar for 10 items. Three of them were missing. Again. I attempted to contact customer service and was basically told they had issued too many refunds already and would not do so again, but a supervisor would contact me. I haven't heard from any supervisor. What this tells me is that Caviar can make as many errors as they want but will only be held accountable for a certain percentage of them.

Don't bother. The first two times I was issued refunds also took extensive conversations to even receive those few dollars back. What a waste of time and money. I understand it is the fault of the driver /restaurant, but I even left a little note in the delivery instructions that I'd double the tip amount (or more) if they would only double check the receipt vs. The actual items in the bag. Flabbergasted that this is too difficult and that Caviar feels I deserve to pay for missing items, garbage service, and rude customer representatives

Five times in a row we’ve waited almost…

Five times in a row we’ve waited almost three hours and NEVER received our food, only to have the order cancelled after our wait because they “couldn’t find a nearby dashed”. Customer service gave us a $10 credit tonight after our three hour wait. *eye roll* We deleted the app and ate some cheese out of the fridge. Horrible app. Horrible service. This happened FIVE times.

Terrible

Terrible. I have ordered here at least 10 times and never gotten my food even within an hour of the estimated time. Always an issue. This most recent time they delivered my food to a nonexistent address and didn't even call me. Won't be using again.

Caviar is theeee worst

Caviar is theeee worst! I keep trying to give them chances but i always have an issue, drivers have disappeared with my food, i have had a driver leave food on THE FLOOR in front of my building, deliver to the wrong address. Its always a pain with their service because the only thing consistent is their horrible couriers

Exactly like DoorDash

Exactly like DoorDash

I used this website because DoorDash was charging $8 for delivery at this restaurant, but TryCaviar had free delivery. The UI of the website looks identical, and the whole process was the same as DoorDash. I had no problems with my delivery and was satisfied.

Their customer service is awful

Their customer service is awful. Yesterday, I forgot to put in a code for a discount and emailed them right afterwards to request an adjustment. They did not respond, and today they told me it was too late because the code expired yesterday. I will not be using this service anymore.

Possible COVID exposure due to app issue

Caviar used to be great but since it got taken over by DoorDash it has gone downhill. Placed an order for 2 pizzas and a salami/cheese appetizer for no contact delivery - received 2 pizzas and a salad with no explanation despite noting that they should call if there are changes to the order (issue 1). Delivery person left after I gave an additional tip and then returned to insist on taking a picture of my photo ID despite the order containing zero alcohol. His app camera did not work and he could not get the unnecessary picture. He stood in the doorway for over 5 minutes trying to take a picture at which point I told him politely that he had to deal with this with the app since it is an issue with the app, and the order had no alcohol in it. He refused to leave and stood in the hallway, potentially exposing me and other neighbors to COVID by doing so. He claimed he would be killed if he did not take the picture. He then demanded to take the half-eaten pizza back. He only left after Caviar's customer support team called him to tell him the order was erroneously tagged as having alcohol. When I contacted customer service to complain about the bad experience, they told me it's not the delivery person's fault if the order is incorrectly tagged. Well, it is also not the customer's/my fault they tagged it incorrectly. It is also not my fault that his app camera did not work. These are all issues with the app and company. Their solution to "solve" this issue was to give me a $20 credit toward a future order (the order was more than double that). The likelihood of my using this app again or recommending it is zero. DO NOT USE CAVIAR!

Horrible

I ordered pick up from a restaurant. The app charged my credit card and notified me my order was ready to pick up. When I went to the restaurant to pick up the order I was told they do not use the Caviar app and do not even make what I ordered. They said this has happened to several people and think Caviar is trying to strong arm them to use the app by doing this. This is fraud in my opinion. Caviar said they would refund the charge to my card but offered nothing for the inconvenience, waste of time and bad experience.

Quality has dropped

Ever since Doordash bought out Caviar, the quality has gone down significantly. I tried Caviar early on in the pandemic, we're talking March 2020 and they were far better than they are now. I just ordered a salad from Sweetgreen today, already expensive place to begin with, and they forgot the salad dressing. I don't know if Caviar is to blame or the restaurant, but if you pay almost 10 dollars in fees + tip and don't receive a crucial part of the order, what's the point of continuing using this service?

I would not recommend CAVIAR to anyone...

I would not recommend this service to anyone. I placed an order and the order was canceled by Caviar with no warning to me, no phone call or and any kind of notification from Caviar, but a charge on my credit card statement that take 5-7 days to return after I spent 25 mins looking through a closed restaurant menu. With technology being promising and more successful in 2020, it reflects that Caviar are not using the best techs to deliver the highest and top efficient services to there clients. Second, Will not provide support during your time of loss spent waiting for food that isn't arriving. Even though Caviar shows you a timer that tells you when the driver or your order will arrive. The time expired and nothing happened, but my order was deleted from the order history and I was not told about the cancellation until I got online and had to chat with a online rep. Who then closed the chat room on me after being redundant about his answers in providing poor 5 star customer service. The gave no info about the restaurant being closed while I was pacing the order. Do not use this place, they will take your money an make you wait 5-7 days for there errors and tell you its nothing they can do about it, the timing of your bank returning the funds is out of there control as if you don't know that already. (Which is self explanatory) Nevertheless, was the agent trying to help by giving a credit or assisting by place a new order. Just closed the chat room and stated basic info about a refund. If I never would have got online they never would had told me my order was canceled, What if I had kids or a very large family to feed. No notification, No Concern at the least! 5-7 days until the possible return of debited funds that was canceled without notification or after taking my phone number No phone call!

No customer service

For two weeks, I have been trying to update my email address. It doesn't work when I attempt to do it myself. So I went to the chat function to get assistance and it take you to doordash chat because its owned by them. The first person I spoke too said they were not the same thing and they couldn't help me! I politely explained it brought me here. I also submitted a email form and all of those requests were ignored. I chatted today and the whole interface is different and its clearly Doordash owned and still no assistance. The chat person told me to delete my account and start again because they cannot make updates. Its very bad.

Our food ordered was not delivered, ever.

Our food ordered was not delivered yet we were texted that it was. There is no phone number to call. Email response is slow, taking over 45 minutes. No reparations are offered, just re-order or refund. However, the restaurant may have to eat the cost of the lost meal.

Banned account.

I have credits on my account but they banned my account. They have horrible customer service relations. They are expensive and have unjustified fees. The price you see on the app is not what you actually pay because price changes and varies between app and store.

Caviar has operational issues to address

I'm posting this experience from last Fri. 8/7/20 in hopes that the right person/department at Caviar sees it and addresses their operational issues. Ultimately they reversed the credit card charge for the order I never received, AND I received a credit in the same amount.

6:56pm: Placed order
8:07pm: began chat — on hold for 20 minutes
8:27pm: Paulo joined
8:31pm: he advised the order is ready and waiting on a courier.
9:16pm: still waiting on a courier
9:19pm: Was told that, due to high volume of orders all over new york we can't get a courier to deliver this order. Would I like to cancel the order? I chose not to cancel -- at that point I had no other option.
10:48pm: received voicemail from courier letting me know he’s out in front of the restaurant to pick up the order, and they are closed.

I get how (early-on) in the pandemic there would be a shortage of drivers and it just couldn't be 'business as usual', but 6-months in, I would expect a delivery service to have gotten their act together. If you don't have enough drivers, then don't accept the order. Oh, and be consistent with your excuses -- either it's a shortage of drivers, or it was due to an "outage", as stated in an email from Caviar a few hours later.

Over $200 in Fraudulent Charges

Ordered from them a year ago and the service didn’t get the delivery to the location. Now this year, I didn’t buy anything but they fraudulently charged over $200 in delivery fees to my credit card.
Sorting it out with my bank now. Thankful that my bank caught the issue.

Just Don't

I have tried Caviar a few times and until today they were slightly better than other delivery services. Today I ordered and the maximum delivery was 45 minutes. I accept and understand minor delays, but my order was delivered in 1 hr and 40 minutes...not acceptable. I contacted "customer service" twice, the first person was helpful and apologetic, but the second absolutely useless. The first rep told me if my order was delayed again to let them know which I did. The second rep could have cared less that my order would be an hour late. Food was cold and gross. Won't be ordering via Caviar again.

On second thought, don't.

On second thought, DON'T try caviar. Our driver brought the wrong order altogether. Support disconnected the chat because the restaurant was closed once the 45 minute late delivery had arrived. By that time, there was nowhere to order food from. We won't be back.

Overpriced deliveries and poor customer service.

Overpriced deliveries now are joined by horrible experience with customer service - they deactivated my account, then asked me for account info, when provided, they asked for last order I made and what was the amount... How is a person suppose to know what was ordered couple months ago for lunch?!?

I asked to delete my account and they ignored that request.

Spend your money elsewhere, not recommended to do business with trycaviar.com
