Bought my very first Linux laptop from Tuxedo and its been smooth sailing. The build quality is absolutely fantastic, and I love the keyboard. If you are used to a Mac - like I am - then of course the... See more

I had a lot of problems on openSUSE, which is said to be officially supported. Audio was gone, 2nd monitor did not work, the boot manager broke down after an update. Every time I asked support they left me waiting for days only to reply that I should reinstall wiping my whole hard disk drive. They also can't keep up with the openSUSE or NVIDIA drivers release schedule and tell people to downgrade. Managed to fix my problems after googling around and told the support my solutions, but I can't recommend to anyone who isn't tech-savvy. So while the colored backlighting is fancy, the keyboard quality is very bad. Press ESC a few times and you have the key in your hands. Important keys are very tiny so you mistype a lot. Compared to the ThinkPads I bought years previous I have to say this is a disappointment.
The support sometimes takes weeks to respond. The computer hardware is of questionable to poor quality, with lots of intermittent failures that the support staff fail to resolve. Even if you know what you are doing with a Linux computer, this is not a good product to buy.

I agree with previous negative reviews, I bought a computer from them a few months ago, and the thing is falling apart. First, it started rebooting itself randomly, at first it was quite sporadic, then it was every few minutes. This was just after a month. Customer support took ages to get back to me, refused to give me a refund. Then they offered to give me a £50 goodwill gesture which I never received. Now screws are falling off, hinges breaking. Don’t buy Tuxedo Computers
I bought a dual boot InfinityBook Pro 13v4 end of last summer. From the beginning, the WiFi was not working neither on Linux nor on Windows.
The customer support consisted firstly in telling me to look on internet for solutions. After one month, the computer was finally send back to Germany, and return to me without notice with a simple note (in german) claiming that the WiFi is great on that laptop. And therefore customer support claims that the problem is on my side now (I probably use "anti-TUXEDO specifically” WiFi routers).
I had to deactivate the WiFi/ac from the WiFi card (both on Linux and Windows drivers of course) to make it work. Considering some previous posts here, that seems compliant with what TUXEDO call a perfectly working computer.
To summarise if your aim if to maintain/develop your skills in Linux, you can buy this laptop. If you want a computer for working or for multimedia purposes (poor quality sound, but this is not important for my use) your better have a look elsewhere.
Great laptop, quick delivery from Germany no problems, really impressed by laptop I went for all the high-end features including 64gb RAM yes 64gb on a 13.3" laptop that weighs 1.3kg and two TB SSD. Really nice brushed aluminium matte case (I went for brown colour) No fan noise, the fan never really has to start up and I do thrash it sometimes. Highly recommended. Total nightmare. I bought a laptop and they had virtually no communication for 2 weeks until I started emailing and asking what the hell was going on. Then they finally shipped it. When I got it, the keyboard didn't work. I mailed it back to them so they could fix it, and asked if I could return it. They said no (admittedly, I got distracted and it had been a few weeks. That is on me). They've had my laptop for 20 days, and I haven't heard anything.
I couldn't be more disappointed. Personally, if I give someone a few thousand dollars, I'd like a working machine, and a bare minimum of communication. I think a weekly "we've taken your money and haven't given you anything, here is our next ETA" is a reasonable amount of communication. Everything about this felt like 2 guys in a basement who didn't know what the heck they were doing.

To be honest, I was hesitant about buying a dual boot Ubuntu 18.04 - Windows 10 laptop from them given the poor ratings they got from their own version of Ubuntu which has had some issues on driver and power management. Given they boxed and shipped dual boots and I could find nothing more on them of a negative connotation, I decided to look into them further and started asking questions from their customer support department.
The responded within a week each time and were accurate in their answers giving me confidence to order from them the following spec:

On price, let's just remember that Tuxedo's model as above performed very well using an i5 processor and much lower spec hardware against the competition to be only beaten in a number of areas by the Dell XPS. The Dell XPS was not a dual boot machine, cost c.Eur1800 and despite its fast processing power was beaten in one or two areas by Tuxedo's offering. This independent study was covered by notebookcheck at
notebookcheck.net, search for "Tuxedo-InfinityBook-Pro-13-2017".
To give you an idea, the same spec Apple Macbook pro but with just 250GB of ssd storage space on a 2.4ghz clock speed and lower spec RAM along with single boot MacOS retails on Apple store at c.Eur2300.
So, I ordered my machine happy with price and spec and it was delivered 2 weeks later. The craftsman ship was good, there were no obvious hardware faults I could see (I'm a Software Engineer), and I set it up on Ubuntu and Windows. The aluminium finish looks very nice.. it rivals the Macbook look! I had no need to contact customer support as the setup was very smooth.. Windows was more demanding on set up requirements but thats an OS configuration difference rather than an issue. Ubuntu by design is light.
So, when I got my CalDev (calendar) and WebDev(contacts) loaded either manually (windows does not support webdev at this time) and by API, I was ready to go. I installed my dev apps, IDE, editors, SDKs, etc and the super fast speed of install and download was amazing.. . On speed and performance, it made my mid 2012 Macbook pro look like an old Granny going for her messages at the local supermarket!! Incredible speed even under load as it was with synching with Google Drive, OneDrive and downloading MS Visual Studio at the same time. These cpu intensive tasks would have throttled my Mac into the ground, but the only thing I noted on my Infinity pro was the swooshing of the fan to handle the extra workload under pressure. I could still browse websites, open apps, do what I wanted, which was incredibly positive as an outcome.
The machine itself is slightly lighter than the Macbook pro mid 2012, which I think is down to the lighter laptop lid. This requires a little care in opening up the lid as you need to hold the lower/main part with your finger as you open the lid. Most people who are Windows users do this anyway but as a Mac user, I found this point to be relevant for me. Once I did this, it opened as easily as any Windows laptop you can think of.
Drivers are the best I have seen in any dual boot. It makes installing printers, devices, this, that and the other very smooth on both Ubuntu and Windows.
Bearing the above in mind, the keyboard is well spaced and not un-similar in feel to a Macbook pro Mid 2012 keyboard. Its a nice feel BUT it is a Windows/Ubuntu Layout, not Mac. Adjustment for me from Mac is not a big deal and I switch daily between then without issues. One thing though, the good driver config makes function (fn) keys possible and depending on what you are doing, very useful as a feature. If you accidentally lock your function (fn) key, ignore most of what you see online about deleting drivers and let the OS reinstall them. To unlock your fn key lock, which in essence driver (hardware) driven on either Ubuntu or Windows so you don't print the function keys (e.g. 4) in purple instead of the main key character (e.g. u) in white on the keyboard, just do the following:
1. Hold down Fn, Num Lk and Scr Lk at the same time
2. Then keep pressing on Fn and then press F11
This will unlock your function (Fn) lock keys, which is controlled by the drivers, not the O/s Windows, Ubuntu, etc.
So in summary, good customer service, good price, good outcome for a high spec machine which fulfilled my expectations. A smooth buying and setting up process that makes me recommend Tuxedo and will buy again (all thing been equal) from them into the future. If you are a Ubuntu fan like me, but like or need other OS like Windows, then its a good idea to check Tuxedo out as I can now say they deliver what you order! 5 Stars!
