Wrong tyres fitted
I wasn’t aware anything was wrong until I went back to Halfords to have my rear tyres fitted and they explained I had the wrong ones on the front and tyres on the drive fitted these. Looking back I ordered the correct ones and tyres on the drive didn’t fit what I ordered so there error and I didn’t think to check they had put the right size on. I’ve tried to email to make them aware and ask them for an explanation, however they are just ignoring me.
So poor from me I’m afraid. Had they have responded and explained / supported I wouldn’t be leaving this review.

Booked a 12-4 slot. Technician finally arrived at 6pm.
Booked a 12-4 slot. Was informed at about 2 that the technician was running late, he would call when on his way that he was on job 3 and I was 4. 3pm I rang them to find out some kind of ETA. They couldn't get an answer from the technician. They said again he would call when on the way.
5pm still no sign so rang again to be told the depot would call the technician and get him to call with an ETA. The technician rang me back at 5.07pm. Sounded dozy and lacklustre that he was sorry and his sat nav said he'd be with me in 29 minutes.
He arrived about 6pm. Job was done very quick but you've got to wonder what the delay was. What is the point in booking an actual time slot.
Wouldn't use again.

Hard work, but good service eventually
I booked a fitting for Sunday and received a message on Saturday claiming they had tried to call me, which was categorically untrue as I had no missed calls. Since I was traveling, I couldn't return their call as requested, so I used their live chat instead. Unfortunately, this feature is essentially useless. The bot asked a series of repetitive and irrelevant questions before finally connecting me to an agent. After answering a few questions, the chat was abruptly ended without any resolution.
On the morning of the appointment, I received a text, so I assumed everything was on track. However, by 7:50 PM, I still hadn't heard anything about my 8-8 booking. When I called customer service, I was informed that the tyres were not available and was forced to reschedule for Tuesday, causing me to take time off work.
On the positive side, the agent I spoke to on the phone was helpful despite my (regrettable) frustration. The fitter who came on Tuesday was slightly late but had a good reason and offered useful advice. While I can't give 5 stars due to the initial communication issues, I also can't give 1 star as they eventually resolved everything.

Ordered an aircon regas
Ordered an aircon regas. Tyres on the drive cancelled on the morning of the appointment.
Have tried to contact them via phone and email and have been unable to get through and am still awaiting a refund.
As with all these large companies when something goes wrong they're nowhere to be seen.
Dreadful service and will look to use a local company in future.

Don’t refund you as per their own policy!
I wish I had seen the other reviews about having a problem getting a refund. In this day and age most companies can refund you within a couple of days. I’m on day 9 no refund, and by the looks of the other reviews I’m going to be chasing for weeks. Great!

Their engineer didn't turn up
Their engineer didn't turn up, he apparently went home sick. Then they told me someone else would come out before 8pm, they didn't. Had to get my son a taxi because they lied and I trusted them. They said they'd speak to their manager and get me a discount, they didn't. They still haven't given me a refund either. It's not been processed. Overall disgusting and fraud.

First time - impressed
This is the first time I have used a mobile tyre fitting service. I was very impressed. It's so convenient, I'll definitely use Halfords Tyres on the drive again. They're competitively priced and their fitter, Chris, was friendly and professional.
Poor customer service and not reliable
I booked and paid for my tyre to be changed. I chose a time slot 8am to 8pm and paid £6 for this. I waited in all day and no one came. Then at 7:30pm I had a text to say they had tried to contact me but no one had phoned or emailed and no messages were left or sent so they lied. The message said to call them back which I have been trying to do but between 7:30 and 8pm I was on hold and then the line went dead and on the Sat I tried to call from their opening times at 8am and it just says our lines are closed. So now I have no tyre and need to pay for someone else to come and sort it out.

AVOID.
AVOID.. No show, twice! Booked, waited in all day.. no show. Tried to make contact, no response. Booked again… guess what.. no show. There has been no reply to the several emails I sent, and no pick up to my phones calls. Absolutely awful, zero customer service support. Halfords, you do not deserve a single star!

Wheels not balanced when fitted
Wheels not balanced when fitted.
I had 4 new tyres fitted and noticed some violent vibration in the car on the motorway at 70mph. So whilst my car was back at the dealer for some warranty work they took a look for me and informed me that the wheels hadnt been balanced when the tyres where fitted. The dealer balanced the wheels and which has rectified the issue. When booking the car for new tyres at TyresOntheDrive, it says the balancing is included. Shameful service from the operative who fitted the tyres.
Halfords “fit at home” harvesting info
Halfords “fit at home” to replace a battery.
Booked and paid for a slot..8am to noon…received ‘order summary’ via email which then stated ‘all day’ fitting…not my 8 till noon..!
Concerned that I may have to wait in all day, I emailed Halfords to query this timing but didn’t get a reply..phoned but could never get through to a customer service agent..”tracking” does not work either. VERY POOR.
Thankfully, the Halfords man did arrive during the booked slot.
However, before he would start work that he said that he had to do a ‘survey’ before he could start the job..in spite of my objections he insisted that i had to supply my cars mileage and he then began to take photos of my car, tyres etc…why is this necessary? The battery is guaranteeed for 5 years and not limited to mileage. As a woman home alone, I told him that I was not happy.
I can only assume that they are gathering information to sell on and to pester me with future emails in attempt to sell further Halfords products..ie servicing, tyres, mot.
This is an underhanded practice and an invasion of privacy. Needless to say that Halfords have now lost my trust and future business…and is not to be recommended.
Good Service
I have used this tyre service from Halfords a number of times and honestly I have never had any issues. A convenient service of the highest standards, reasonable cost for a mobile service and tyres of all brands from budget up to top end.
Fitters are always polite, reliable and helpful.
Immobile on the Drive more like!
Ordered 2 tyres for our Mini, the Halfords mobile fitter came to fit them but then whilst fitting the first tyre damaged our wheel, then whilst fitting the second their tyre machine broke down.
They then left us stranded with a wheel and tyre separated.
Customer service was a joke, the next day I had to call around to find anyone who would fit my tyre to the wheel and get it done myself.
This happened on the 18th March, and after hours of calls, and loads of emails they still have done nothing but a price match (ish) on the tyres, I raised a formal complaint on 20th May and was told I would be contacted within 48 hours, guess what no contact.
Tyres on the Drive was a great company before Halfords brought it, now it is a joke, the job going wrong happens, but Halfords idea of customer care is more like a dodgy back street garage…actually, thinking about it, Halfords is worse.
Avoid, go with someone else, there are good local tyre companies out there, the idea that there is less risk going to Halfords is false.
Shambolic mobile fitting service
I’ve been using Tyres on the Drive from time to time for the last 10 years. Always on time and good service. Not any more, sadly.
I have booked a mobile tyre fitting for Thursday 23rd of May, 10 am to 12 am (paying 18.5 GBP for the time slot). One day before fitting, someone called me saying that they lost the details of the order (how can you lose the order that’s electronic, with full details sent to me in the email confirmation, is beyond me).
We’ve reconfirmed the details, but they did not have original time slot anymore, so we rebooked to Friday 12 pm to 4 pm. Their agent then promised an email and text confirmation shortly.
On Thursday, no confirmation. I’m calling their helpline at about 10 am, very helpful agent finds the order but can’t confirm team is coming, due to the IT system error. Can’t send confirmation either. Promised the update shortly.
5:30 pm and no update, I’m calling them again. Service agent finds the order, only it’s for 4 pm to 8 pm now, which does not work for me at all. I requested cancellation and refund, which they will hopefully process promptly
It was a great service that is totally dysfunctional now. The only very small poistive is about their helpline, my wait was short and agents polite and helpful in both cases, so at least they’ve figured out the phone support.
Genuinely appalling service
Never usually bother writing reviews but the service from this company has been genuinely appalling.
Mobile tyre fitting for 2 tyres booked weeks in advance. Night before fitting date, inform me that the tyres aren’t available and the order will have to be cancelled unless I wait for Saturday as no alternative tyres can be fitted either. (I took a day off work for fitting, and we should have been away on Saturday… with the new tyres). But hey, these things happen right? I express frustration and ask them to refund me so I can try to find another way to get new tyres.
Now, the day of fitting comes and they turn up at my door ready to fit tyres. I explain my confusion to the technician, and he rings head office. I THEN STATE THAT IF THEY HAVE ALREADY REFUNDED ME, I WILL
HAPPILY PAY AGAIN VIA ANY METHOD - so we can get the job done. The technician rings head office again, then tells us that head office said “nope, because the job has been cancelled - we’re not doing it” - he then drove off and left.
To summarise - I was told a job couldn’t be done, I was told it was cancelled, then they turned up to do it, and despite seeing how desperate we were for the job to be done, they decided they weren’t going to do it and left. Genuinely appalling service all the way through.
Always recommended this service to friends in the past, I’ll do the opposite from now on.
After service is appalling!!
After service is appalling!!
I've been due a partial refund from tyres i had fitted +5 weeks ago and despite numerous emails, live chats, telephone calls and direct confirmation that case is being handled and processed I have still not received the refund.
Frustrated!!
Incompetent fitter and shocking customer service
I had two tyres fitted about 4 weeks ago and I developed a knocking noise from my front wheel. After taking my car to a reputable tyre company, it turns out the fitter had broken my TPMS and had cable tied it back together and then fitted the new tyre without telling me. Turns out the balancing weights he used INSIDE my tyre to try and get the TPMS to sit straight had come loose and were rattling around inside my tyre. I then had to pay the local tyre retailer to replace the TPMS. Following a call to the helpline I was assured by the local assistant manager that I would be refunded for my outlay, but after another email to him 4 days later with no response, and then another email by the branch manager who assured me they would look into it, I have had to once again phone the helpline today to be ASSURED that they would give me an update by close of business…guess what…still waiting. I am absolutely shocked by the customer service given by this shoddy company pertaining to be a leading retailer. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
UPDATE: I had to phone back again today. “We will get a senior team leader to get back to you within 30 mins to 1 hour”…here I am again 2 hours later trying to phone them back again.
UPDATE: Managed to get though again, to a very apologetic phone operator who said that my previous call was never escalated and that they would email me so I could send my receipt for my replacement TPMS through to them again by return…and they confirmed that someone would “absolutely contact me tomorrow”
UPDATE: Well…tomorrow arrived (24th)…left it until 4pm as nobody had contacted me. Spoke to ANOTHER apologetic employee who empathised that nobody had got back to me for the FOURTH time. But this time was different… they were going to email the claims department directly and copy me into the email! Wonderful, I thought, we are really getting somewhere now…except it is now 21:30 and in the last 5 hours I am yet to receive the email. A little peeved as it it now the beginning of the bank holiday weekend and I doubt I will be receiving the MONEY THEY OWE ME over the weekend, after THEIR FITTER DAMAGED MY CAR AND TRIED TO COVER IT UP…
To be continued…
Unreliable - do not use
Ordered two tyres to be replaced at a cost of just under £600, I received no tracking information before the two hour slot of 6pm - 8pm despite being told in email that I would. I called at 6.30pm to be told that the technician was working on a job, and I was next (and last on their list). At 7.45pm I received a text to say the technician had an "issue with their van" and would not be coming, and to please reschedule. Called the call centre again and they could provide no further information. Won't ever use again.
