Please accept our sincerest condolences for the loss of your father. We are sorry to hear of your frustration regarding the location of the cremation and the subsequent delivery.

To provide our families with the low-cost unattended service we are known for, we work within a specific network of crematoria. This allows us to keep our prices significantly lower than a traditional local service. Our standard service level is to use a facility within a 30-mile radius; however, depending on availability within our network, this distance can occasionally be slightly further. Local crematoria (such as the one 6 miles away) charge significantly higher fees that would prevent us from offering our current pricing.

Regarding the return of the ashes, the delivery of the ashes to you by private driver was offered to you for £50. A member of our team will contact you privately to discuss the collection or delivery arrangements to find a resolution that works for you.

Your local funeral director price of £1,150 is NOT for a prepaid funeral plan, it is for when someone has already passed away.

Please do check your facts before posting – that said we can see you spend a lot of time posting 1-star reviews for other companies, so we feel in great company 😜

Packages for immediate funeral arrangements and pre-paid funeral plans are different.

As at 12/03/2026 a Variety Funerals no service cremation, for a person who has sadly passed away, is from £995 and this price is subject to annual prices rises, like most things (as we do not have a crystal ball in our office, we are unable to tell you what these will be)

The price for a pre-paid funeral plan for a no service cremation is £1,525 – this price is fixed for ever and ever and includes collection from anywhere at anytime in mainland England & Wales.

Thank you for your review. First and foremost, our aim at Variety Funerals is to provide dignified and affordable funeral services. We work on very low margins to offer the most competitive prices in the country. This model, while beneficial to our clients, relies on timely payment for us to continue operating and serving communities

During our conversations, you mentioned that you were only able to pay the deposit of £300 and were "unsure" how you would pay the remaining balance. While we are sympathetic to your financial situation, we cannot move forward with arrangements without a clear plan for the full payment. It would be irresponsible of us as a business to provide a service that a client cannot afford, as this would put both parties in a difficult and distressing situation.

Our team members are trained to handle all inquiries with the utmost empathy and professionalism. We believe that refusing a service when it is clear that payment cannot be made is a responsible business decision, not an insensitive one.

We simply cannot take on the risk of providing a service that we cannot afford to provide, without payment. We are very grateful for you to have provided your review that highlights this fact.

We aim to be completely clear and transparent about this from the outset, as it allows us to offer the most competitive pricing for this particular service. While this may not have been the answer you hoped for, it is a fundamental aspect of our unattended direct cremation package.
