All seems like everyone was in the same boat. I also got caught but as soon as I realised I cancelled my card so they did not get 50p either. You put in the website and they pop up without double checking you just sign up it was only when I authorised the 50p with the bank it did not give me the options to pay by DDM or 2 x 6 months. Easily done so glad I sussed it

SCAM!!

SCAM!!!
I was trying to tax my car and when I put in the address that came in the notice the first one on google was this one. I was paying attention and thought I was on the right website. They changed 50p to basically give me a report saying I needed to tax my car. As soon as I had it done I realised my mistake and that it all felt a bit dodgy so I froze my card. The next day they tried to take payment of £8.90. I

Same thing happened to me I didn’t even pick up on this as I was rushing to tax my son’s car first transaction 0.50p then today they tried to take £8.90 but my bank recognised it was a scam. Didn’t get my 0.50 back so if this is happening a lot they are still pocketing our cash 😡

Scam

Tricked me into believing they were part of the GOV.UK payment process.
When I realised, I tried to cancel but unsurprisingly the Link didn't work. So I contacted my credit card company who are blocking them as a merchant. Then had a 53 minute conversation with Action Fraud who were very helpful and are going after them.

Hoodwinked into subscription

Signed up by accident. Was in a rush and trying to tax my new car. Wasn't concentrating. Realised is bought a vehicle check for £0.50 which I wasn't overly bothered about. Then I got £8.90 out my bank account for a monthly subscription that tells you when your tax and mot is due. Even if I'd subscribed I'd be disappointed to receive the simplest of information that a Google calendar entry would cover. Anyway complained and got a refund. Lesson learned.

I thought I was renewing my VED (road tax) only to discover through devious means I was signing up for a vehicle database subscription that is freely available from the DVLA.
I Googled the tax payment site and this Vehicle Enquiry site came up as the first site so foolishly assumed was the correct.
I'm normally super cautions being scammed but this is very devious.
Fortunately my bank seemed to be aware of this scam and has addressed the issue.
Super annoyed at myself but this is very clever and just borders on illegality.
Scammers full stop. So annoyed my grammar may even be incorrect!

Also scammed by this company

Also scammed by this company - gutted as I normally spot these things I mile off. Very scary that I thought I had bought vehicle tax from the DVLA and I recall that I had confirmation on my screen to say as such and thought I paid £20.00 ... I have been charged £8.90 and 0.50p (which I assume from the comments would have come out monthly) - card cancelled and all flagged to my bank. Thankfully spotted early. Now Id best actually tax my vehicle.

This is a SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!

This is a SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!. I did not set up a direct debit with this fraudulent company. I bought a DVLA licence for my car in February 2025. This so-called vehicle inquiry in the UK took £7.85 and 50p from my account in February. Since then, my account has been debited with the same amount in March and April. I have reported this to the Natwest Fraud Team. The card will be cancelled and issue a new card. I will report this to DVLA and people needs to be aware.

SCAM COMPANY, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!

This is a review on behalf of my elderly dad. He made an enquiry about his car tax and had no idea that he was signing up to a monthly payment. As other people have said, the company says it charges 50 pence to complete the tax check, but then uses the card details which have been obtained under false pretences to continue to take money from the client’s account without their knowledge. I contacted my dad’s bank who were very good and immediately blocked the company, applied for a charge back (now received) and issued him with a new credit card.

This is a dreadful company, a total scam, preying on vulnerable and unsuspecting people. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
