Unbelievable that Google allow them to advertise or sponsor results. Utter scam - it even looks like the .gov.uk site. Once you realise, email them and threaten to close them down and report them - they might give your money back.

This is a fraudulent website - passing off as part of the DVLA - do not use -SCAM

How on earth did google allow this kind of website to exist. I thought I was on the GOV website as they used the same look and fell for this scammer. Thank God I went back as I felt something was not right and now have my car taxed correctly. I need my bank to refund this asap

Total scam as others have said. Got directed to it via government website / search and it looks like you’re paying for road tax. Got to try and speak to bank about it but not sure how to cancel the monthly payment etc. how is this not illegal? Have also reported the ‘Ad’ to Google although doubt they will care. The ad states ‘Pay vehicle road tax online’ and the website is called vehicleroadtax so obviously they are actually seeking a pointless car history check along with an ongoing monthly payment every month! What an absolute joke.

Please can anyone help. I have stupidly gone onto this site and thought I paid for my car tax, I clearly haven't. I'm not sure what I need to do as cannot get through to my bank and obviously my car has not been taxed. This site is so believable though. Any advice please? I paid £17.95..Jas

My Son just got scammed ...paid £17 for what he thought was the first month payment of road tax. Why are these companies allowed to exist!

GOOGLE ARE THE BIGGEST CROOKS HERE.
This website charges you for a service which is free from the government, so it's dodgy, but not in itself a scam. The website is deliberately misleading though, looking like a gov.uk site, and suggesting you are paying for tax until it is too late.
GOOGLE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO RECOMMEND SPONSORED SITES IN RESPONSE TO GOV.UK SEARCHES.
What I don't yet know, is whether this company are scammers who are now going to rip off my card.
UPDATE (24 hours later) : next day there was a £8.90 charge, ironically referenced as venquiries-info/refund. It isn't a refund.
Checking emails, I found their 'welcome' email, and risked navigating to their website, customer enquiries, and found a 'cancellation and refund' request which I have decided to try. It says I have cancelled and will be refunded in 4-5 days.
I will update again if I get refunded, or if any other further developments.
NEXT UP DATE (only a few minutes later!) : a notification from my banking app came through almost immediately after requesting the refund, to say I had been paid £8.90. In the app, the previous pending payment has now gone.
Despite appearing to be resolved, the rating remains 1*.
Hopefully won't need to update again, but will do so if any charges appear in future.

Total fraud, took £17.85 for some stupid useless vehicle report and showed as my road tax is paid and I’m good to go, I literally driven my car a whole month like that assuming I have paid the road tax until I get the reminder letter from the tax department. I called the DVLA and came to know that it was not the government website it’s a total scam. And now a payment of £7.99 is pending from my account for this fraudulent website saying vehicledebit.co.uk . There’s no contact number or other means of contact at all on the web page or their email. It looks just like the actual gov.uk website that anyone can get confused. Very frustrating and disappointing. Shame on google who’s allowing them. Fooling people

Unfortunately my partner got sent to this website when doing our car tax online. After he had made the £17 payment , he said it didn’t seem right, I checked the reviews of the website and seen all these ones. We have contacted our bank straight away to put a claim in.

Complete scam. Somehow ended up here after searching for gov uk vehicle-tax on Google, I even accessed the gov.uk website immediately before I somehow ended up here (Chrome history backs this up). It's set-up to make it look like you're paying vehicle tax through the government website, but they just give you a vehicle report and end up taking money out of your account monthly.

Cant put 0 or I would. A scam website which came up as sponsored through google when I out in Gov.UK vehicle tax.

Charged £17.85 for a report to tell me my car want taxed. Checking a d/d hasn’t been set up and reporting to my bank as a scam and looking for a refund.

Google should not allow this to appear.

Total scam. Like others thought I was paying for road tax...as that is what it leads you to believe. Rang bank to see if anything I can do and found they had set up a direct debit too. Ive emailed requesting a refund but so far no response. Next week will ask bank to dispute for me.

Can't give a zero. This company must be paying absolutely loads of money to be sited about the Gov. UK search engine. I inadvertently clicked on them to pay my car tax. I was alerted when I was only charged 50p instead of the full car tax. Apparently they dupe you into a subscription to provide you with information you already have. Please be vigilant when paying your car tax via the website. They should not be allowed to operate. Ive cancelled the subscription, but doubt I will get my money back.

Exactly as others have reported. They intend to dupe you into thinking you're taxing your vehicle. Vile people running this scam. I'm a great believer in Karma and hope they get shafted in life, as I'm sure they will.. Looking at you, Joshua Hitchings with your '5-star review' 👍

Trying to pay car tax, I didn't realise what site I was on as was using my phone and thought I was paying for my car tax.
Warning sign was when they requested 0.50p.
I went through with the transaction but then the bank alerted me to a possible £8.90 that I hadn't authorized so have cancelled my card.
This site comes above the gov.uk and looks so similar its very easy to put in my details.

Scam company, look like they are taxing your car but at the bottom of the website it say you are just buying information as to whether your car is taxed or not. That information is freely available on the you.gov site.

total scam after thinking it was the gov website to tax my car only to find out it wasn,t now today there trying to take anotherr £7.99 from my bank ive had to ring my bank to get the moey back and put a block on the payment luckly the bank can do a reverce payment and get all the money back please only use the genuine gov website to tax your car

Scam website posing as the gov vehicle tax site. Have reported to google and bank. Anyone had any success getting their money back?

It's absurd that a search engine (Not trustpilot of course) ranks that website at the top. How can a reputable company end up facilitating a scam?
