South Ruislip branch

I've been with Vets4pets (South Ruislip) for over 8 years first when I had a cat who died then now with a dog. I subscribe/d to their monthly plan which at first, used to include postage of your meds, you didn't have to do anything, your meds just turned up, this was cancelled (but prices went up). You'd then call and request the meds then collect it. Fair enough, we need to cut the cost otherwise it's passed to customers. THEN it became too much work for them to answer your phone so you can order your meds, they introduced the "call and press 2 option" again fair enough but I don't know who the system was built for, it doesn't understand your accent and I have a "normal" non-British accent.
That's not all, on Friday 3rd April I went to my local branch (Ruislip) to order meds for my dog, I saw the notice regarding leaving a message and I spoke to the nurse at the desk, she asked me to weigh my dog which I did. She had the guts to go to the system, check my dog's weight and update it but refused to tick one more box to order my dog's meds. She sent me away telling me to call and leave a message, SERIOUSLY? You are already on the system, you have my dog's details how much would it have cost you to put our order through? Ok fair enough, I'll call but the system "didn't get that". I called over 15 times trying to leave a message but "sorry, I didn't get that, to leave a message, please wait for the beep".
This lack of interest in customers is just stupid, there's no way anyone can explain getting my dog's details to hand, updating weight then sending me off to make a phone call, absolutely ridiculous! I was the only customer so it's not like there were other people waiting
I did phone back on Saturday 4th, having tried 4 more times and failed and I chose to speak to someone. I was understandably very upset and spoke to a receptionist who couldn't apologise enough, she was so kind and ordered my meds, my question still is why the nurse couldn't help me when I was standing in front of her.
I'm seriously considering leaving although the last time my dog saw a vet for his vaccination, the vet gave me very good advice on how to manage his weight which apparently, according to the nurse on the 3rd is working so they are not all bad.

Awful! Halifax Vets for Pets

I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Vets4Pets and feel compelled to warn others.

My partner was recently charged £52 for ear drops that are widely available online for approximately £15. When we queried this, we were not offered any reasonable explanation and were not proactively provided with a prescription to obtain the medication elsewhere at a fair price.

More concerning, however, is the standard of veterinary care. During a recent consultation for our dog’s ear infection, the vet failed to prescribe both the steroid treatment and ear drops required for effective treatment. Instead, my partner was told to choose between the two, without being informed that both are necessary when used together. This is something our dog has required consistently in previous years.

As a direct result of this inadequate advice, our dog has now been suffering with an untreated ear infection for over a month. We were also abroad for IVF treatment during part of this time, which made the situation even more distressing and difficult to resolve.

We have since been informed that steroids cannot be issued without booking and paying for another appointment—an unnecessary and avoidable cost caused entirely by the initial failure in care.

To make matters worse, the reception staff were rude and dismissive when my partner attended to collect the medication. The combination of poor clinical judgement, excessive pricing, and unprofessional customer service is unacceptable.

We will be taking this matter further and will no longer be using this practice.

Murdered my sister's dog

My sister's dog was left to die because of a mistake made by vets for pets hilltop, she went in for a spay, they made a mistake and wouldn't rectify it untill they got more money, they left the dog to die in there care waiting for payment, remember it was there mistake in the first place, they messed up her op and let her die all because the money wasn't there when I took her back to that place.

Profit over care? You decide

Recent experience of V4P left me shocked. Due to an injury on my beloved dogs tail, I was quoted over £1500 for an op, money that I don’t have to pay out in that amount while waiting for insurance to reimburse. I called a local independent vet in the next village and after telling them the issue, was quoted £400. How can V4P quote 3x the price for the same op? Warning to other customers, shop around, and it’ll save you A LOT of money. I’ve now taken the rest of my pets elsewhere as I can no longer trust my local V4P to have my pets best interest at heart, and appears that hitting profit targets is more important.

Always there when we needed them.

Absolutely amazing with caring for my cat Berry for 15 years but more so over the past 3 years with her 3 conditions. Rob, Riann and the whole team at Vets for Pets are the best. So caring, compassionate, yet professional and always had her best interest at the forefront of all treatment. I truly believe we would have not had the valuable time with her had it not been for their knowledge and willingness to give her the care they did. Berry was very lucky to have them all. And they had to deal with her neurotic mummy too.

I wish I could leave negative stars as…

I wish I could leave negative stars as they dont deserve 1 star. They killed my precious girl when she went in for a spay couple of days later she was rushed in for me to be told a stitch on her internal eternal wound had come lose. After telling me how much it cost I paid just so he would go back in to treat my girl. She died 3 hours later.

Honestly never use this vet again

Honestly never use this vet again. I walked out of there in tears. They don't care about the animals just the money.
They quoted me two grand for my Dog's operation and when I went back the next day they added an extra £500 on. They are awful and have no idea what they are doing.

£973 paid, no diagnosis, obvious issue missed — and then chased for payment during complaint

I took my dog to Vets for Pets as an emergency after she suddenly became lame and was clearly in significant pain.

The vet carried out only a very brief assessment, noted swelling, and immediately moved to sedation and X-rays without properly examining the affected leg or paw for an external cause.

My dog was kept at the practice for several hours due to other cases. Despite having this time, no thorough physical examination appears to have been carried out before proceeding with imaging.

I was charged £973.64. The X-rays showed no abnormalities and no diagnosis was made.

She was discharged with pain relief (Pardale V and Rheumocam) and instructions to rest for two weeks — effectively masking the symptoms rather than identifying the cause.

After bringing her home, she continued to show discomfort and repeatedly focused on the same area. On closer inspection, I discovered a visible wound with pus at the exact site of pain, strongly suggesting a localised infection or foreign body that had been completely missed.

Following this, I submitted a formal complaint. This was acknowledged in writing by the practice.

However, despite the complaint being ongoing, I have since:

- Had my follow-up email ignored
- Been contacted by phone instead of receiving a written response
- Received repeated messages requesting payment and urging me to complete finance arrangements

This directly contradicts what I was told in writing — that my account would be placed on hold while the complaint is investigated.

Being chased for payment, even for a small remaining balance, while a formal complaint is unresolved is completely inappropriate.

Paying nearly £1,000 without a diagnosis, while an obvious issue was overlooked, is unacceptable. The way the situation has been handled afterwards has only made the experience worse.

I would strongly advise others to question recommendations for sedation and imaging if a full physical examination has not been carried out first, and to be cautious about how complaints are handled.

Vets for pets Taunton Somerset

Vets for pets Taunton Somerset. I was told to leave the vets and go elsewhere because l would not give human medication l was persuaded to buy from them because after reading the medication leaflet it said not to be taken if had and elevated liver in the past or current. My dog did have an elevated liver after being poisoned by Blake vets (previously owned by castle vets) bridgwater after giving a booster injection he had a bad allegic reaction nearly died. I left them for vets4pets. The best thing vets4pets did was to tell me to leave, because l have never see a vet since thats nearly 3 years ago. Vets4pets wanted to take his eye out because he had a ulcer, l treated him herbally he still has his eye and it has gone back to normal size. Also all the vets l saw even Quantock vets in bridgwater (1st vet) l saw after l adopted the rescue dog wanted to put him on heart medication every vet was pushing this. He did not need it he is not struggling to breathe or anything. The only time he was sick was when he saw vets. I believe vets want sick pets because healthy ones dont make them money. I complained to royal college of veterinary surgeons but they are their to protect the vets not animals.

Professional negligence: No medical help given, only empty promises

Vets4Pets Charlton,London.
I brought my 11-month-old registered breeding Maine Coon, Sura, to this clinic seeking help. I wasn't even seen by a veterinarian; instead, I was seen by a vet assistant. The only solution offered was immediate sterilization, which is unacceptable for a breeding animal. To deny a registered cat even a chance to have kittens without exploring medical alternatives is unprofessional.
The assistant simply sent me home with my cat, providing no medical assistance at all. He promised to speak with the veterinarian and personally call and write to me within 4 days with an answer. It has been a month, and I never received any contact.
I was lucky that I was traveling abroad shortly after. In Europe, I was able to treat Sura successfully using Alizin. While this clinic claimed it is 'only for dogs,' this medication (developed in France) is clearly labeled for both dogs and cats in European veterinary practice. It is the gold standard for treating feline fibroadenomatous hyperplasia without surgery.
I am deeply disappointed by the lack of care, the broken promises, and the outdated medical advice.
If you value your pet’s health and your time, look elsewhere.

Definitely would not use again

Definitely would not use Vets for pets Grimsby again . Took in my lurcher who was suffering gastric problems . Very unhappy with the consultation and resulting treatment, vet I felt was not listening to me at all, vet just kept saying she wanted pancreas tests and blood tests, very expensive but I was happy to pay if it helped my dog but i kept trying to bring her attention to I took in a bag of blood and bile my dog had thrown up between my booking appointment and appointment she didn’t seem at all concerned by it . She just prescribed what I found out after was just pain killers. Her excuse after( when I complained ) was I didn’t mention the blood and bile on making the appointment but he had that by the time I went for the appointment and I tried to keep bringing her attention to it . I didn’t know treatment was decided before being examined 🤷‍♀️in fact I know it’s not or shouldn’t be . He was a very poorly dog by the time I went to Another vet . This time after treatment , Strong antibiotics and some gastric medicine ,and after stool samples identified the problem more medication I’m fortunate he is now well . Why didnt the Vets for Pets vet treat , what the new vet thought a very concerning gastric bleed or even test the stool samples ( I might add the stool sample tests were a third the price of the tests she seemed set on as soon as I walked in the door 🤷‍♀️?. But price isn’t the issue , the lack of satisfactory care is ) , she had the samples I took in plus my voiced concerns on the bleeding . In Other reviews they say I’m sorry you didn’t complain, I did , my complaint was practically ignored, their only response was a letter from the vet about the consultation which wasn’t accurate at all about what happened that day .
