Issue resolved but was painfully slow

I got a used approved VW Golf from a Marshall VW branch but has issues with it, so took it to Cambs Vindis. The identified the issue and sent a healthcheck video - good start. The problems then started after that - it took over 2 months for them to get confirmation that the issue was covered by warranty and to actually book in the repair. I had to constantly chase to get this organised.
It got sorted in the end but was a painful process.

Zero stars for Vindis Cambridge service centre

Booked car in over phone for very specific job. Explained the history of an AA call-out and diagnosis at a garage that wasn't able to complete the job. I'm told they need to diagnose it themselves to guarantee their work. Yep. Fine.
On required check-in the day before, I put in all the history again in the notes and get an email confirming the details.

On arrival at site early morning I checked in on the computer system and placed keys in the box, understanding that I'd be called on diagnosis of the job that had already been diagnosed (so in theory should be a fairly quick job right? They already know very specifically where to look- and it didnt involve the tyres or windscreen!).

At 1pm I call because, you know, it's been a few hours and expensive car fixes are stressful. The first thing I'm told is "you should have been told not to call us, we'll call you". Charming! This feels like a good start! Car hasn't been fully dealt with yet. Ok no problem. I can wait.

A health report comes through at 1545 as I finish work and get in a taxi to go wait at the service site. The report reels off a load of stuff I didn't ask about- tyres and windscreen included.
The note about the job I specifically booked it in for, confirms that there is something wrong and I need to give them more info and it needs assessing. I booked it in to be assessed. I gave you all the info. The only thing I could do more is go get qualified in mechanics and hold your hand while we do the job together.

I get to site and express my dissatisfaction quite clearly and as calmly as I can. I explain why the car was there and how clearly the job I booked it in for wasn't done.
I am placated with agreeance and tales of understanding, diagnosis times were cut, we understand it's frustrating. It needs more time to be diagnosed.
May I recommend you just don't waste your time cleaning it and looking at things I didn't ask you to look at?
I get told the area in question has also been cleaned and I need to drive another 600miles before I go back to them for a diagnosis.
I express my concern as I'm on a Temporary fix by the AA. "It'll be fine, call us when you've done another 600 miles and we'll book it in".
Spend the next few minutes wishing I'd recorded the conversation because it's the best joke I've heard in a while.

Impressively poor phone Customer service- I "should have been told not to call". By who? The computer that took my keys?
And I paid £154 to have my car cleaned (which I said no to on the check in form as I didnt want them to waste their time) and be told absolutely nothing of use.

Save your time, money and your patience for dealing with salesmen.
The non- work done for me should be genuinely embarrassing for Vindis, I expected a decent job from a renowned name and found them seriously lacking in every possible way.

Cambridge Vindis

Cambridge Vindis - Absolutely useless. We were in the market for a T-Roc and saw one online at the Cambridge Vindis. Clicked the links to book a test drive and then nothing for two nearly weeks. Followed up today with a text message a week after we bought a T-Roc from elsewhere.

ŠKODA Cambridge

ŠKODA Cambridge. Full of rubbish.

Booked for a service mot and car key battery change. Waited for hours to be told the system had an error and they thought it was a drop off not a wait. I called them out as in the 4hours I’d been there they’d told 3 others the same story. How do you know about a problem and not question why people are sat in the waiting room. If it was a drop off why didn’t reception question me going and sitting all day in the waiting area that’s a glass wall from the office of service people. “Who sit doing very little” .

Got told they only had time to do the MOT. One hour later I was out.

Called back at 8:30am a few days later for the service and car key battery. Told it wasn’t booked, they then realised it was the same booking left open. Been sat 4 hours again. Currently 12:30 and I turned up at 8am. Still not been seen and when I asked for an eta everyone disappeared.

An absolute Joke. Letchworth next time I think. Also not cheap for work that shouldn’t cost that much.

Warn your elderly relatives about them miss selling absolute rubbish. Getting people to sign and not making it clear to them they are signing for fuel cleaning and pollen filters they don’t need. So many people in the 9 hours caught out by miss sold extras.

BEDFORD AUDI AVOID AVOID AVOID

BEDFORD AUDI AVOID AVOID AVOID! We bought a car from them in August 2023. We told them we were cash buyers but the charming salesman convinced us that taking finance out was the best option, because he would throw in a free service and we can just pay it off a few months later. It was definitely mis-sold to us and we now find out we’re paying thousands of pounds of interest above our car price. Extremely upsetting that we now have to go through the complaints procedure and finally to financial ombudsman!

Vindis focused on selling.finance

Went to look at a Golf GTI at Vindis Northampton. The car was okay, nothing special when you pay a premium at a main dealer. The sales manager was desperate to sell us the car on finance despite us telling him we were cash buyers. Walked away and sold our p ex car to Motorway for £1600 more than Vindis offered. Found a year newer car with 12000 fewer miles for £1500 less in the end. Disappointing sales pitch which focused on selling finance as opposed to the car. I won't consider Vindis again. Had a disappointing service from Vindis Cambridge in the late 1990's. I'll sat clear from them in the future.

Dear Mr Williams,

We are sorry to hear of your recent experience. Can we please ask to confirm which site you visited, as we don't run a Volkswagen site in Northampton? We are then able to escalate this to the relevant team and hopefully avoid disappointing you in the future.

Kind regards, Emily, Vindis Team

Vindis Bedford - avoid if possible

Given that the lease of our daughter's vehicle was due to expire, we were approached by a sales exec from Vindis Volkswagen, Bedford to see if we could arrange an order for a new replacement. We arranged to take the current vehicle back to have it assessed and valued, and to look at a new replacement lease for a similar vehicle. Our daughter was away and my wife and I agreed to make the enquiries in her absence. The exec extended an invitation to our daughter through us to review the vehicle upon her return from abroad. Upon attending the pre-arranged meeting between the exec and our daughter, it turned out to be a disaster. This would have been our fourth new VW from Vindis, but given the exec's reluctance to obtain the keys for access when asked by my daughter, he refused. She left having been made to feel rather small and insignificant. At 23yo, she should have been treated as another valued customer but alas, this clueless sales exec merely turned her away. What an absolute disgusting attitude. I called to speak to this exec after seeing my daughter arrive home with a long face clearly disappointed with the manner in which she'd been treated. All I received were nonsensical excuses and apologies, but no explanations or justifications as to why he felt our daughter, a potential customer (and undergrad accountant) should have been treated in this way. We have since ourselves (parents) also sourced a new VW from an alternative competitor. We have also sourced our daughter's new vehicle from the same place and will never be returning to Vindis VW Bedford for sales, services or MOTs. When companies treat customers in this way, their days are numbered, which is a shame since our experience with one sales exec in particular was, historically, quite good.

The valeting team at Audi Northampton…

The valeting team at Audi Northampton are absolutely useless. The 1st time they took paint off my car, the 2nd time i was asked to return to assess and repair damage. They refused to repair the damage and created more including snapping my badge off the front of the car. As for the service team, as friendly as they are, they don't communicate at all and you'll have to explain everything 10 times, to still have to explain it all again.
Worst experience ever and I've been BMW.

Very underwhelming……..Awful from start to finish, salesman…

Awful from start to finish.A salesman that doesn’t know what he’s doing to lying management,
The reason for me buying my next car from a dealership is for a piece mind that I was buy a supposedly Approved Used Car and I was told the things I pointed out on the initial viewing would all be fixed or cleaned as I’m buying an Approved Used Audi and every standard would be met, when I collected the car it was presented to me with only the basic valet, absolutely no detailing and cobwebs under the bonnet,it felt like the car had not had its 150 point check and was literally washed and given to me, I replied to the salesmans email the next day explaining that I wasn’t happy with the overall quality of the vehicle and ended the email with a question and I was then ignored until I phoned and complained,in the meantime I realised the clutch needed replacing so the car went back on Monday and was told it would be the 8 days to do the clutch and get the car cleaned appropriately then I got a call to say it wouldn’t be Tuesday it would now be Thursday, after not hearing anything by Thursday afternoon I phoned up to speak to the salesman and was told he always has Thursday off!! And the manager told me the car was on a test drive as we speak and would be ready Friday.
When I collected the car on Friday it still hadn’t been cleaned to the standard I’d expect from a main dealership and when i told the salesman his attitude changed instantly and I could tell he didn’t want to deal with me anymore and telling me that it was the best they could do even though he agreed the first time I collected the car it wasn’t the usual standard.
When I left I could tell instantly that the car needed wheel alignment because it was pulling to the left and the steering wheel was not sitting straight, something I found out was quite normal following the work that had been done and even a monkey could tell the car wasn’t driving well if they actually test drove it. I decided not to return to the circus and save my sanity and I took the car to Kwik fit the next day and £99 later the car drives like a dream, really poor that Vindis are allowed operate like a dodgy back street garage and I’m glad I never paid extra for the protective coating as I can imagine how well that would have been applied. Audi group should be a shamed that a franchise treat their cars and customers in such a disgusting way.

Purchased a used 2022 Skoda Karoq

Purchased a used 2022 Skoda Karoq, in May 2024, we were very happy with our purchase, until this week when we received a message to say the car was due its MOT. We were very surprised as the car was first registered in October 2022. We assumed it was a mistake and contacted them to be told that actually it was due, as the previous owner had, had it MOT’ed in August 2023 for reasons unknown. The sales team had not told us at the time of purchase, as they had not checked the paperwork! We didn’t find the sales team at Skoda Cambridge very helpful with this matter and we had to do all the chasing ourselves. We have now been offered 2 free MOT’s, we contacted our local Vindis dealership, to be informed they were unable to MOT a Skoda. So we then contacted the Cambridge Service Team and have managed to book it in, then we told that if we wanted a curtesy car we needed to pay £25! Why aren’t all vindis MOT tester’s in the same group capable of doing all brands?
We have been long term Vindis customers, these problems have now put a lot of doubt in our minds

Appalling customer service

The worst customer service you will ever see. #CambridgeAudi fitted a new shock absorber to my RS5 on 5 Feb. The part or the workmanship failed on 26 April, less than 3 months later, either way it is Audi's fault. So far, they have tried to charge me for investigating the fault (over £400), said they will charge me labour to replace the part that failed, when it is Audi's fault and refused point blank to get me a courtesy car or a rental The part will not be available until some point in July, that's 3+ months off the road for something that is Audi's fault! Escalation to #AudiUK produced nothing but excuses and vacuous apologies.
Never buying another Audi, nor will my friends and family after this, nor will we be touching any of the #VindisGroup cars - Cambridge Audi are a disgrace to your brand.

My experience with Audi Cambridge has been poor

My experience with Audi Cambridge has been very poor, I purchased a used Audi q5 for £29,000 and before I got home the engine management light was on, the next week the service light came on. They told me it had a 152 point check. Also the first time I wash the car I noticed the rear alloy wheels were damaged and they refused to do anything about this, I even offered to pay for one repair if they paid for the other one. Beware
I have now asked four times for documentation for the oil change they did with no response.
