Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 305 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complain about terrible customer support, excessively long phone wait times, and unhelpful automated virtual assistants that make reaching a real human being nearly impossible. People also report frustrating technical service issues, severely delayed broadband connections, unexpected billing charges, and poor communication regarding overall account management. Though some customers encountered frustrating delays and poor service, a few reviewers were satisfied with individual staff members who provided professional and prompt assistance. Consumers noted that when they finally managed to connect with knowledgeable representatives, their technical problems, installation issues, and general inquiries were handled efficiently.

1 year of unreliable service

1 year of unreliable, spotty WiFi that is more expensive than most competitors. The worst of the worst in "customer service". I have contacted them 10 times with the same issue and they didnt fix anything. They left me waiting for a cumulative 5 hours while trying to fix the same issue for the whole year. Most of their customer service agents are rude, insult you and act condescending yet know nothing about anything, even their own company. The team leader called me a liar and was the rudest excuse for a human I've ever had the misfortune of communicating with. He had no interest in helping and just acted like an arrogant child with no experience. I then asked to cancel my account which resulted in a 30 minute wait, after which i was stuck with the wrong department who also didnt listen nor fix anything. They put me on to someone who had no idea what she was doing and who told me she'd get back to me that same day to cancel my service. That was over a week ago. This company is, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst company ever. Never, ever, use them. They are the literal worst

Absolutely disgusting service

Absolutely disgusting service. I was customer with virgin madia not by choice unfortunately but because my apartment complex has cable only with them . Everything what I was experiencing with them was a nightmare starting with increasing price without any reason and notice, charging without explanation till the missing internet for many days in a row. When I finally decided to close the contract with them they will still charging me without explanation taking the money from my account and said thay didn’t. This company it’s a scam and need to face a court about me I don’t want to hear about them never again

A very helpful experience

Today I had technical difficulties and one of your technicians Eduardo Andrade was so professional, patient, helpful and most pleasant and clear. I was thinking about moving providers, but due to this excellent experience in sorting out my technical difficulties with my Wi-Fi, I have changed my mind. Great service is a top priority for me. Many thanks

Lovely staff members, terrible tech support

Lovely staff member transferred and upgraded my WiFi, tech equipment delivered the following day but unfortunately that’s where the good news ends. Plugged it all in, says it should take 30 mins to load and work except we’re now 24 hours and two phone calls later still with no actual WiFi connection. Tech support have raised a ticket but it could be 48 working hours to fix and as it’s Saturday that could be early next week because that’s the service level agreement apparently.

Totally incompetent

Totally incompetent, a simple house move they can’t get right. Waiting a month and still no sign of equipment. Missed tech appointment, they didn’t call or message and waited 5 hours for them to arrive, then created new appointment to install equipment to the old address, trying to get that sorted has taken days and days and still not done. Calling them so many times to sort this and then get told the process of moving can take a month and basically to just deal with it. Shocking experience. Would never use them again for a move, going to cancel now and go elsewhere, hopefully don’t have the same issues.

Do not trust Virgin media with bank A/C

Do not trust Virgin media with your bank details. If you cancel they will continue to take not only your usual monthly amount for your finished contract but the undiscounted amount out of the deal! It will matter none they stopped the internet service on a Sunday (end of contract and agreed cancel date) . Plugged in new vendor and off we went! As soon as you cancel Virgin you must cancel own DD!!! Then, the terrible foreign customer service will claim they can do nothing even though they have taken money without a contract or permission. DO NOT TRUST ViginMedia with yout bank details as they are not trustworthy

I've been very unhappy with my customer…

I've been very unhappy with my customer service experience with Virgin, my fibre installation was originally supposed to occur last on the 15th of April, the installers never showed up and when I contacted Virgin by phone they didn't take any action, they just said they should show up, I also tried contacting the installers but I kept getting cut off after being on hold. When I contacted by chat I was told an IT process was started to activate my router and that this would take 24 hrs, I followed up 24 hrs later and was told it would take 48 hrs. That was on 17/04 and I still have not heard back on this. On 17/04, I was separately contacted by the fibre installer and they scheduled to come back on 20/04, so they came and when the broadband was finally set up, it only lasted for a few hours and then goes down again, this seems to have been due to an unreported fault, I contacted the Virgin chat again and they said there was no timeline on repair of this fault, but it might be fixed today (21/04), they confirmed that the fault occurred on 20/04). They said that they could not notify customers of faults, that customers had to contact them or the fibre wholesaler to find out about faults.
As I am still within my 14 day cooling off period I told the customer service assistant that I wanted to end my contract as I was unhappy with the service, they apologised about this but did not offer any more assistance, they then asked to end the chat, I said that my issue was not resolved, a few minutes later they ended the chat.

Terrible terrible service

Terrible terrible service

Repeated issues, no one knows what’s going on, system and software on their end seems inconsistent and broken.
Customer service agents seem to genuinely trying their best, but are working with broke. Tools and only partial visibility.
Their service used to be good and was my personal favourite. But they have fallen very far.

Would Not recommend ever. Go with literally any other ISP is what I would suggest.

Atrocious - do not join them for broadband

Summary of events
My wife called on April 8th to renew and suggested we upgrade to a higher speed. Fine
Got a new broadband router on April 10th
Broadband stopped working on the night of April 10th.
New broadband router does not work, or connect to our existing set up
I called customer care on Saturday, April 11th, and spoke with someone named Fanezze. You need to listen to the recording of this call, she was one of the most unhelpful people I have ever spoken to. I asked to speak with a manager multiple times, but she would not allow it. Listen to this call to see how your customer care team are speaking to customers

After listening to the call, you will now be aware that I work from home and have been without broadband since Friday night, April 10th.
The router you sent was the wrong one

Today, April 13th, I waited 25 minutes and initially spoke with a Vashailli, I think. She said I was in the wrong department and needed to transfer, I explicitly asked not to be cold transferred and  for her to hand the call over to the right dept.

Thirty minutes later, Sammy from the tech department picked up after a cold transfer, with zero context of the issues.
Again, I ask you to listen to this call. The lack of customer care is so obvious it's not even funny. He told me multiple times on the call that it would be fixed within 24-48, even though he couldn't tell me how, but he certainly knew the fix couldn't be expedited. A lot of your staff know what can't be done, but they don't know the process behind it or how it could be donebetter/faster.
At the end of the call, he advised it would actually be two separate tickets, 24-48 hours each!!! Surprisingly, this wasn't mentioned previously!

As you will know from listening to the calls, I work from home
On Saturday I paid Vodafone €40 for a mobile broadband setup that cannot handle Zoom calls, rendering it essentially useless to me. It can just manage emails.
So I have cancelled  my direct debit with you. You will see we have lived at that house since 2019 and have been a customer of yours.

I will be without broadband for ~7 days. I spent €40 on Vodafone mobile broadband. I'm unable to work from home. And I've spent ~3 hours on calls etc trying to rectify YOUR ISSUE.

I requested Sammy to get a manager to call me, which again will take 24-48 hours. Everything seems to have this timeframe, it's interesting.

Update as April 14th
They have sent me out 2 “correct” modems. The exact same modem they sent me out last night. I cannot explain to you how shocking their customer service is

Virgin Media mobile is an absolute…

Virgin Media mobile is an absolute disaster. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF GETTING THEIR SERVICE. I went on a holiday end of March 2026- from the moment I landed in Amsterdam the sim could not connect to a mobile service. Called their customer service- kept me on hold for 30 minutes. When finally connected- they said they will look into it but they will need to send me a replacement sim. I told them I am travelling and wont be back in Ireland for 2 weeks they said there is no other way.. Their system had some technical issue and it automatically terminated my number!! In my 30 plus years of using a mobile phone, never heard this one before!! No further calls- No help. I called back again the next day and asked if there is anyway they could re activate my existing sim- answer was the same- need a replacement sim. I raised a complaint in their portal - a lady called after 2 days and I had to explain the whole story again- Conclusion the same- they need to send me a replacement sim and cannot be done until I am back in Ireland. So for 14 days - no mobile service- cannot get OTP's- Cannot make emergency calls. Luckily I had a travel sim so I could remain connected to the internet. Finally since there was no other option, I told them to send the replacement sim. I reached home Friday night, put in the sim and confirmed that the replacement sim is working. Then another 2 days for my original number to be ported in. All in all, a terrible experience.. Never ever will I use Virgin's mobile service.. And I heard they are planning to buy 3.. God save us all!!!

Be ready spend your life on customer support call

Customer support phone line often makes you wait for 40+ minutes. Resolution is so poor that you will find yourself calling multiple times to get an issue resolved. I'd give zero star, If that was an option. There are cheaper and better internet broadband options available in market. Make sure you avoid this.

STAY AWAY

If I could give this service a negative 5........ I would. It is 10-04-2026 and I have been trying to order the new Iphone 17 since October of last year... The system had a glitch where it wasn't capturing payments on certain accounts and the issue is STILL not resolved. It was only last week that they came up with a temporary fix to be able to push the new phone order through and now I'm being told the Iphone 17 is actually not ordered because it is AGAIN out of stock? Even after taking payment and it being confirmed to me on the day of ordering... This is only one call out of many many many calls (following up consistently once or twice a week for MONTHS) their only solution was for me to get a second sim (which I do not need) and PAY FOR IT MYSELF....then... PAY THE CANCELLATION FEE MYSELF (for their system problem?). No one knows what they're doing over there. Every person you talk to will tell you something different each and every time you call, they don't keep notes on files so you need to constantly re-explain the situation, managers are nearly impossible to reach, SHOCKING SERVICE!!!! SPARE YOURSELF IF YOU CAN!!!! I (DEEPLY) regret ever signing up with them. RUN.... I never ever leave bad reviews... I promise you this is not an over exaggeration.

ABSOLUTE CRIMINALS, GO WITH EIR, AND ALSO READ THE OTHER REVIEWS

Virgin Media came to our house and told us that they were 'upgrading' our internet, even though everything was fine before that, and when the technician came over to do it, he told us he could not complete his job for some stupid reason, they left us without internet for a week till we had to call to schedule another technician, he then came a week later and told us that someone else had to come to complete the job ????? It was a constant back and forth ringing Virgin, scheduling a technician to come and them always having a different excuse as to why the job couldn't be done, which went on for more than a month, and I'm sure you can imagine how bad that is for a house that 5 people work from home in, but did they care when I told them, absolutely NOT, not to mention waiting for over an hour on the phone on hold to get through to someone every time, and even when you would get through to them, I would have to deal with such horrible and rude staff, they actually couldn't care less. I know that employees deal with enough rubbish and I completely understand that, but the Virgin Media customer service is on another level and its seriously uncalled for, when I decided I had enough, I rang again to cancel our Virgin media I had to wait another hour on the phone and finally got though to some young lad, surprise surprise he was a cheeky brat and very rude, when I told him I wanted to cancel, he asked me for the reason, I was not in the mood to answer that question, so I told him to please just cancel it, he then told me, that he would have to transfer me to the cancellation team, and before I could say thanks, he hung up the phone on me. I WAS FUMING! I have since cancelled our virgin and called Eir, they sent out a technician and there was no issues and no excuses, Eir got the job done. When speaking to the Technician Eir sent out about our frustrating situation with Virgin Media, he told me something interesting, he said that the lines in our local area were replaced and went from Virgin Media to Eir, so that "upgrade" they were giving us was actually them adding wires or something back into our home or something, im a bit confused about that part. Moral of the story, please I am begging you guys from the bottom of my heart, do not go to Virgin Media, it is not worth it Please Please Please I am begging you, go with Eir. Virgin Media are absolute criminals, I never thought I would have to leave a review like this in my life. If you do not believe me look at all the other reviews, I am not the only one saying this. They cannot treat people like this, CROOKS!!!!1

The worst Service provider and regret it!

The worst and most selfish and greedy service provider. I’ve been trying to cancel my broadband for months and I keep getting left on hold for 50 minutes and my phone then gets cut. They know you are calling to cancel and don’t care to respond. It’s amazing how other departments answer quickly but the cancellation department just never responds. And my broadband gets slower and broadband costs goes higher and higher by the year. Started of at €30 now paying over €80 per month. With a service that doesn’t reach my bedroom! Virgin media if you reading this please respond an cancel my plan!
