Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 243 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complain about poor network coverage, constant dropped calls across the city, and extremely slow internet speeds that make daily tasks difficult. People also express deep frustration with unhelpful customer support teams, automated bots that fail to resolve issues, and unexpected billing charges. Some people were satisfied with the local in-store staff, warmly describing individual employees as exceptionally helpful, polite, and knowledgeable when sorting out complex account problems. These pleasant face-to-face interactions offer a nice contrast to the otherwise widespread dissatisfaction with the company's core services and digital tools.

One of the shittiest networks ever

One of the shittiest networks ever. Poor connection, high prices, and bad customer service. I set up a direct debit on my card, and one day, the Voda app messed up and disconnected it. I had to pay a late charge because I didn't notice. They just told me they don't give a f*** and that it's all my fault.

Vodafone, Reliability on billing customers outstanding, nothing else!

Yes, 'What went wrong this time', is correct! In otherwords, it's never-ending internet dropping out as per usual. They never seem to loose connection when billing me!
I'm fed up with them! They say let us help, well how about you just provide the sservice your supposed to supply under contract, so people don't have to even think of you, and get on with their lives?
Customer service are brainwashed, and/or can't speak proper english, and also try to link the fault as being on your end, not theirs. The only reason I'm still with them is because I still owe a small amount on the Tablet, so in the near future, when that's paid and gone, I'm gone!!!

Worst Customer service ever

Worst Customer service ever, never call the support teams just go straight to the store and have them help you. These indian call centres have no idea and run you through hoops and with no escalation process means you will not get anything resolved anytime soon

One of the worst customer experiences I…

One of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. I strongly advise against Vodafone Australia.

After three years in Australia as a Vodafone customer, I have finally switched providers, and my biggest regret is not doing so much sooner.

Throughout my time with Vodafone, I paid far too much for a service that came with consistently appalling customer support. On multiple occasions, I discovered that my monthly bills had increased without any clear communication or adequate explanation. Customers should not have to constantly monitor their bills just to discover unexplained price increases.

Trying to resolve these issues with customer service was an absolute nightmare. Every time I attempted to get help, I ended up wasting hours of my time. The online support page would expire or stop working, I was repeatedly transferred from one representative to another every few minutes, and I had to explain the same issues over and over again. The entire process was exhausting, incredibly inefficient and completely unacceptable. Despite my repeated attempts to obtain assistance, my concerns were never properly resolved.

After finally switching providers, I encountered yet another frustrating situation with Vodafone. I switched on the final day of my billing period, yet I was still charged for an entire additional month, despite no longer using Vodafone's service. I found this extremely unfair and could not understand why I should be expected to pay for a full month of service I was no longer using.

What made the situation even worse was receiving a text message warning me that my account was scheduled to be referred to an external debt collection agency within seven days if the final bill remained unpaid.

I ultimately paid the bill because I did not want to risk the stress and potential consequences of debt collection. However, paying the bill does not mean I agreed with the charge or considered it fair. I felt pressured to pay simply to avoid finding myself in an even more difficult situation.

After three years of paying Vodafone's expensive bills and wasting countless hours trying to resolve problems through an ineffective customer service system, this was an incredibly disappointing way to end my time as a customer.

The combination of unexplained bill increases, inaccessible customer support, repeated failures to resolve my concerns and the handling of my final bill has completely destroyed my trust in this company.

I would strongly advise anyone considering Vodafone Australia to think twice before signing up. In my experience, Vodafone failed to deliver the level of transparency, customer service and fair treatment that any paying customer should reasonably expect.

I am relieved to have finally switched providers after three years. My only regret is not leaving sooner.

Shockingly bad carrier

After the data debacle of 2011, I can see Vodafone Australia is still an absolutely garbage network to have ones phone on.

My 2025 purchased phone is now a $1300 paperweight after vodafone has blacklisted my IMEI over the BS emergency calling reason.

My 8 year old and 10 year old grey market purchased phones all work fine, one of them rooted with unofficial Linieage OS software.

Vodafone's resoning to blacklist handsets is totally bogus and it's a disgrace the Aussie govt is permitting this.

Avoid Vodafone Australia as a carrier or anyone else who uses their network. Absolute rubbish!

The network is absolute RUBBISH

The network does not maintain my self recorded message for voicemail. It keeps reverting to some foreign pre recoded message so my contacts think they have called the wrong number. You have to continually contact them to have it fixed and then, it may only last a day or a week. You also can NOT send group messages. This also keeps reverting back and you need to contact them to have it enabled again and again. It also deletes all your messages and phone call logs every month or so. I use these records for my business and need that data saved to my phone. What the hell! This is NOT what I signed up for. Absolutely the WORST NETWORK ever. I feel like I am back in the DARK AGES! Why is there NO protection for us from network providers that can not even provide the basics. I would have NEVER signed up with them had I known what I know now. I strongly recommend if you are reading this, you NEVER use VODAFONE either. Or like me, you will be the one paying the price for NOT being protected from this shoddy provider.

One of the shadiest companies I know

On of the shadiest companies I know. They hookep me up wiht $30 monthly phone plan, after a year without a warning it jumped to $45 and then again. They have the guts to say 'the changes are always on the your invoice'. Why the hell should I read the invoice every month for something we agreed to?
The best, when I went for Aldi mobile which is HALF PRICE and has always signal, they charge $8 for transfering the number. Absolute extortion.
I also hate to see they don't even hire Australians and with all this money they extort from people they send it to India.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I recently signed up to Vodafone. I purchased a phone on a plan through their website. Nothing went right right from the beginning and with foresight I would have cancelled at the first hurdle. Customer service is a lot of time on hold then them telling you it's sorted but it's not. I purchased a discounted plan and phone. They have not given me the discount for the phone. You think this would be a simple fix but they told me they fixed it it after a two hour phone call but no not fixed. Currently I have a complaint going through the ombudsman but so far no results. I don't think it's legal to advertise one price and then charge another.
This is causing me a lot of stress and I am at the point I don't want to deal with Vodafone at all. Surely they know what they advertised on their website on a particular date.
My advice of anyone thinking of going to Vodafone don't. What I have outlined is only one of many problems I have had since signing up with them.

Do not use Vodafone

Do not use Vodafone. Their staff are amateur, untrained and pretty much useless. If you're extremely lucky you may find the 1% who understand their systems. Took me over an hour to return a modem - no complications just hand it back. Billing is hopeless - have to check and query overcharges on every bill. Don't stock full range of Apple products. In short - go somewhere else

Absolutely appalling customer service and a complete waste of time.

I am disgusted with Vodafone's customer service and how my friend has been treated while trying to use her Device Care Plan.

When my friend signed up, she was told about a 30-day timeframe. We did our best to get everything sorted, and when we eventually went into a Vodafone store to clarify the situation, we were told that it was fine and that it did not need to be within the 30-day period. Based on that information, we continued trying to resolve the issue, making calls, sending emails, and being transferred between departments, only to eventually be told that nothing could be done because the 30-day timeframe had passed.

Why reassure a customer that the timeframe isn't an issue, only to have them told later that it is?

After countless calls and emails, we eventually discovered that the plan is handled by a third party rather than Vodafone directly. The entire process has been an exhausting runaround, with no one taking responsibility or providing consistent information.

What makes this particularly frustrating is the information in Vodafone's own Device Care Plan brochure. It specifically lists “Device exchange (without return)” for $299, described as allowing customers to request a mobile phone without needing to return their registered mobile. It also states that this service is limited to one service request in a 12-month period.

This is the specific benefit we were trying to use. We understood that my friend could request a replacement device without returning her original phone by paying the applicable $299 fee, subject to the plan's terms. She has been paying for this plan, yet after losing her phone overseas, she was told that nothing could be done because the 30-day timeframe had passed.

We made every effort to get this sorted. We followed up, made calls, sent emails, and sought help from both Vodafone and its store staff. We relied on the information we were given, only to find ourselves in a situation where we were ultimately denied the opportunity to proceed.

My friend is still paying for her phone, as well as having paid for a care plan that she has been unable to use in the way we understood it was intended to work.

At this point, it genuinely feels like we have been given the runaround. I cannot prove that this was intentional, but the outcome is incredibly frustrating. Vodafone needs to take responsibility for the information its customers receive, provide clear and consistent advice, and ensure that customers are not disadvantaged after relying on information provided by its own staff.

What is the point of paying for a Device Care Plan if you cannot get a straight answer about how to use the benefits advertised in the brochure?

This experience has completely destroyed my confidence in Vodafone's customer service. Endless transfers, contradictory information, wasted time, and no meaningful resolution are simply unacceptable.

I want Vodafone to properly review this situation and explain why we were reassured in-store that the 30-day timeframe was not an issue, only to be denied the service on that basis later.

Absolutely unacceptable. I would not recommend this experience to anyone.

Verified, then told to call anyway

I'm a paying Vodafone customer and I can't use phone calls. I wanted to add an NBN plan, so I used live chat with a written assistant I'd authorised to help me. I passed their one-time code check, and the agent even confirmed I was verified. They still refused to go ahead and told me to call or come on the chat myself, after being told about my accessibility needs.
They said no authorisation would be accepted, but offered no written way to set one up. They wouldn't lodge a complaint, give a reference number, name the policy, or pass me to a team leader. When I asked again, they closed the chat.
I've since lodged two complaints through their online form. No reference number and no reply. Live chat exists, so there's no reason to force a phone call. Please make written support actually work for customers who need it.
Update, 23 October 2026: I've lodged two formal complaints through Vodafone's online form, on 19 and 21 October. Both auto-replies promised a response within 2 business days. Neither has been answered, and I still haven't been given a complaint number. Instead, Vodafone replied here telling me to use the National Relay Service. That's still a phone call, just through a relay officer. I asked for written support, and Vodafone already has live chat and an online form. Telling a disabled customer which workaround to use isn't accessibility. I'm a paying customer being ignored, so this is going to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.

Unable to login and poor service

I have not been able to log into MyVodafone for months. The problem seems to have occurred when I stopped being a customer in June 2026 and becoming a NBN customer again in September. Everytime Vodafone sends me the 6-digit security code, the app doesn’t accept it. I’ve tried deleting app and reinstalling, recently upgraded to latest iOS version, but nothing seems to work. The worse part is the extremely poor customer service received from Vodafone after I’ve reported the issue. Someone was suppose to ring me by 21/09/2026 regarding the issue but nothing. I seriously have regrets rejoining Vodafone Australia.

Update: Idiotic Vodafone AI reply. I’m sick of chasing. If your business had a jot of decency, you would be contacting me to resolve it.

I got a phone for my daughter & connected it to Vodafone! As soon as we inserted sim card there were heaps of SMS messages, from Dominos, Maccas, other companies & personal phone numbers! Few days later, got bombarded with phone calls from all over the world.
Brand new number that nobody had, what a disgrace of a company! When i called to ask why, they didn’t supply an answer they said that they will change the number, more of a disgrace!

Extremely Disappointing Customer…

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service by Vodafone

Around a month ago, Vodafone disconnected my service without any prior notice or explanation. Since then, I have been repeatedly contacting customer service, but every time I call, I receive the same response: that the issue will be resolved within 24–48 hours. On another occasion, I was asked to wait four working days.

However, even after waiting for the promised time, nothing has been resolved. Every time I call back, I have to explain the same issue all over again and listen to the same assurances without any actual progress.

I have already wasted more than 10 hours on calls trying to get this issue resolved. To make matters worse, the customer service team refuses to transfer my call to a supervisor or manager so that I can discuss the matter with someone who has the authority to take action.

This level of service is completely unacceptable. The lack of accountability, repeated false assurances, and failure to address a customer’s concern demonstrate a serious lack of professionalism and customer care.

Vodafone needs to take responsibility for this negligence, resolve my issue immediately, and improve the way it treats its customers. Customers deserve proper communication, accountability, and solutions—not endless delays and repeated promises.

I'm disappointed with Vodafone's level…

I'm disappointed with Vodafone's level of service. Mobile coverage in my area is terrible and in the next street a hundred metres away I don't get coverage at all. This is unacceptable becuse it's close to mobile towers and with my Optus account I don't have any trouble at all. It's also difficult to get any up to date information about my account. I paid off one of my phones and feel I was ripped off because I was on a 36 month contract and had to pay penalties to get off it. Get your act together Vodafone!!

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid

Avoid, avoid, avoid, they have the worst customer service of any internet company. When it works its fine, when it doesnt they royally stuff you around. You cant even speak to the technician who can help you. They day we will call you back and dont. Everytime you call they start a new ticket, tell you its getting escalated but the reality is you are put back to the bottom of the pile again. They dont care you are going days, weeks on end with out internet. Their standard response is we will get back to you in 24-48 hours and we have escalated your issue. Also was promised credit for stuffing me around, this didnt happen? Never have I ever dealt with a more unprofessional, unhelpful company before in my life!!!
