Dale, Brian and the team at Atkinson Building Services were excellent throughout our project. Not a small endeavour (basement renovation/refit, new shower room, new staircase, remodelled kitchen including new external doors/windows and a raised deck), the guidance provided from initial conversation to planning and building control right through delivery and completion was invaluable.
I would also endorse the comments in other reviews that have highlighted the quality and professionalism of the team (and subcontractors) – excellent communication, friendly, courteous, reliable, conscientious.

Atkinson Building Services completed an internal remodelling of our home including removing walls, installing a new kitchen, office and en suite and I would not hesitate to recommend their work.

From start to finish, the whole process was stress-free (well as stress-free as building work can be!), thanks to Dale’s excellent project management. Having everything coordinated by him made such a difference—he kept things running smoothly, communicated well, and ensured every stage was completed on time and any issues raised.

All of the team were reliable - they started the project exactly when they said they would and always turned up each day on time which gave us full confidence in the process. The team, including all the sub-contractors, were professional, skilled, and worked to a very high standard.

Beyond their workmanship, they were also friendly, respectful, and non-invasive—working around us with minimal disruption. They kept everything tidy throughout, which made a huge difference to our experience.

We appointed Atkinson Building Services Ltd to undertake major renovations in our home. Having never had work of this scale done before it was evident from our initial discussions that we were in safe hands.

Atkinson’s have just completed our fairly substantial 2 storey extension. With Brian, Steven, Craig and John onsite and Dale project managing the whole build went smoothly and on schedule. Fabulous attention to detail, skilled workmen, focused solely on the job in hand, they did an exceptional job and we are delighted with what they (and their sub-contractors) have delivered for us. We would highly recommend them.

After receiving their detailed and competitive proposals for building us a single storey extension together with substantial internal renovations involving multiple rooms in our detached property we engaged ABS as our building contractor during 2024.
Our experience was very positive and we really appreciated their conduct and quality of work from the very beginning of our project through to it's conclusion.
As a professional, family firm we found all of their directors and tradesmen to be very honest, diligent and hard-working,
ABS maintained constant communication throughout giving us welcome feedback on their progress together with key updates and the anticipated achievement of project milestones.

This project was our very first experience of using a building contractor in our lifetime and we were more than a little anxious about embarking on this work.

However, our decision to work with ABS made the experience pretty much anxiety free.

I have no hesitation in recommending Atkinson Building Services Limited as a quality building contractor.

Excellent job would highly recommend this company Atkinson Builders, very professional and efficient and the joiner Steven is a perfectionist very glad we have had Dale and his workforce to carry out this work would not hesitate to contact them again.

We have a red sandstone detached bungalow which we wished to upgrade by adding a kitchen/sitting room extension, reroofing the property, creating bedrooms and a bathroom in the attic, making the existing bathroom an en-suite, creating a cloakroom and a utility room and installing decking at the rear.
We used Atkinson Building Services for these major works which took several months and found them to be very professional.
Dale produced a detailed bill of quantities for the works along with a schedule of works and was always available if we had any queries.
During the course of the works if there were any snags Dale was contactable and would arrange to have the problem sorted.
On site Brian, Stephen & Craig turned up daily were courteous and friendly and were hard working. (None of the frustration where workmen turn up, then disappear, leaving you wondering when they are coming back to finish the works.)
During the works there was a major problem with roof trusses which should have been sorted out between the architect and the structural engineer. Dale spent a lot of his time sorting out the problem which spared us a lot of grief (for this alone we were glad to have him managing the project!)
After the works were finished they were contactable to carry out the few minor snagging works which appeared along the way.
Overall we are very happy with the works and would give Atkinson Building Services a 5 star rating would recommend them and would use them again

We have recently used Atkinson Building Services for some home renovations and can’t recommend them highly enough. Having never done anything like this before, they held our hand every step of the way and the communication and customer service was exemplary. Highly recommend Atkinson for the work carried out in our house. We renovated our kitchen taking down a dividing/load bearing wall to create a bigger kitchen space. From the minute Brian & Dale arrived for initial quote we felt reassured & confident they would get the job done & to a high standard. We struggled to secure a company who would carry out the work and although we had to wait a few months for an opening in their books I am so glad we did wait. Steven the joiner & Dale were absolutely fantastic throughout the full project keeping us up to date & informed of any decisions, their communication was spot on. I cannot thank the full team enough for everything they have done & highly recommend them to anyone thinking about getting them onboard for any work they need. Thanks again!

Our building project was a bit of a monster - a double storey extension comprising a kitchen/diner and two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, together with a major re-model of the existing property (only one room remained the same!). Atkinson Building Services were great from the outset - at the exploratory phase they gave us a ball park quote, which on our agreement was translated to a minutely detailed firm quote. Apart from some remedial work where the existing build was not up to scratch and some choices on our part for additional items and higher spec finishes the project came in on budget. Any additional costs were discussed, a range of options were offered, and on occasions savings were also made. We were very impressed with the project management - materials and contractors arrived like clockwork meaning that the schedule was maintained. The on site team were extremely hardworking, were considerate and professional and the quality of their workmanship was excellent. We chose to live in the house while the work was undertaken and they made every effort to limit the mess and stress and designed a work schedule to allow that to happen. They were also able to direct us to suppliers (eg for the kitchen) that we would not have otherwise found and suggest solutions for finishes and fittings. This wasn't the cheapest quote, but they came in on budget and on time. Overall we were very happy with our experience of ABS and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Dale and the team were fantastic at helping with the additional work required in my house, due to an extensive flood, that the insurance company couldn’t do. Atkinson always provide a very good professional service at a very good price but more importantly a very good work ethic. Just completed major reconstruction of my back garden. This was completed to a very high standard within a tight time schedule. They are not the cheapest around but the work they do is so good it is worth the money spent. It is done once and it is correct. I have no problem recommending them to anyone. A fair price for very good work done in a specified time frame ticks all the boxes for me.

I can't recommend this company enough. I have used them a few times for big jobs. I have also recommend them and everyone who's used them have all said the same. There quality of work, customer care and communication is the best I have ever came across just wish I met them 10 yr ago would have saved money and a lot of sleepless night. Thanks for everything

We had the wall taken down between the Living room and Dining room, added patio doors and moved the downstairs toilet and what a great job they did.
From planning works with Dale through to Brian and the great team of guys coming in each day. They always kept us informed of what they would be doing and made sure everything was clean and tidy before leaving. Dale was always available if we needed to ask any questions, nothing was ever a problem. They even fixed our living room window, plastered extra walls and fitted a radiator in the kitchen which were not part of the project. Excellent service from a great company. Following the pandemic I decided to arrange my living accommodation on one level. I had to wait several months due to labour and material shortages at that time before Atkinson's could start the contract. I am glad I did. Throughout the project this skilled team were unobtrusive and helpful. I took ill during the build and was unable to take decisions in person. The team took it forward with minimal input from me sourcing products I had chosen. Excellent communication from their office kept me in the loop and was always timely, clear and helpful.

I can unreservedly recommend this firm. They have completed a space for me to enjoy with a finish that is exceptional.

After doing quite a bit of research into building companies that had been recommended to me, I engaged Atkinsons to progress a demolition and re-erection of a single storey extension at the rear of my property. From start to finish they were a pleasure to deal with and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are also the tidiest tradesmen to have done any work in my house.
