Cancel Wells Fargo credit cards

I have been a customer since 1995. We have checking, savings, CDs, investments, mortgages and credit card accounts. Over the last 15 years I saw deterioration of service and any pretense of customer service.

I would strongly advise not to use Wells Fargo branded credits cards if you want any promised protections. They do not honor their own terms and have always sided with the charging party. We always had amex and discover and many other credit cards. I should note that Wells Fargo branded credit cards are the worst for protecting consumer.

I strongly recommend cancelling Wells Fargo branded credit cards as any issues or fraudulent transactions, in the end, you will not be protected and Wells Fargo will leave you responsible for those transactions. I recommend closing Wells Fargo credit cards to avoid this. Use Amex and Discover or other institutions with better reputation.

Another reason is Wells Fargo credit card customer service are notoriously unprofessional, rude and degrading. Nobody needs to put up with this.

Constant Hidden Fees

Constantly changing checking account structures so their customers incur fees, then refuse to refund those fees. Customer service is horrendous.

Absolutely awful banking experience

Absolutely awful banking experience! My banking account was compromised. I have been with this bank for 16 years! They closed my account due to fraudulent activity. Therefor I had to open up an account with another banking institution. I called to check the status of a claim because of course money was stolen out of my savings account. They will not give me information over the phone because my account is closed. I was told to go to a branch location. I have the claim number. WTF.

Do not bank here! Terrible banking experience.

They just lost a 30 year client

They just lost a 30 year client. I went to change the name on my account to my maiden name due to a divorce. I was told the documents that I needed to bring with me to make that change. I set up an appointment. They called their legal department because my LEGAL document was a copy and not the original (even though it had a signature and date stamp from the local court). The original (with a seal) is WITH THE COURT. I do not have access to it. I am closing my accounts as soon as possible. It is easier to start up with a new bank that's easier to deal with. Interesting that they're willing to let a client just walk ... so much for loyalty, customer service and overall banking service. Unfortunate all around.

Demolish this throne

Wells Fargo is the worst bank to the planet! I won’t go into details except to say they are a bunch of robbers and thieves… This entire system should be evaluated by the Trump Administration and shut down! Years of giving them my business and they closed my account for $500 that was left for me to pay back out of $2500 check that I called and inquired of their “professional rep” that told me to cash the check and 4 days later the check was sent back. Instead of the financial representative suggesting I hold the check and bring it in since I had concerns he assured it would cash. They left me reliable for the full amount. I wasted 11 years of direct deposit with this bank to receive no resolve. In the midst of my paying off the debt they closed the account. Now they are harassing me to pay it knowing they’ve already received the payment from my trust. Not to mention for years they were stealing overdraft fees

They are full of dry bones!

Wells Fargo is the Absolute Worst Bank

Beginning January 20, 2026, I demanded that Wells Fargo close my business checking account. I called repeatedly. I went to two different branches in person. I gave clear, explicit instructions: Close the account immediately.

Wells Fargo refused.

Instead of honoring my direct instructions, the bank has kept the account open and continues charging monthly maintenance fees for not maintaining the minimum balance.

Let’s be clear:

I am being charged fees on an account I have repeatedly ordered closed.

There is no fraud hold.
There is no court order.
There is no legal justification.
There is no written explanation.

Only delay, obstruction, and continued fee generation.

This is either:
1. Gross operational incompetence at a federally regulated bank, or
2. A deliberate refusal to process closures in order to continue collecting fees.

Neither explanation is acceptable.

It should not require regulatory intervention to close a bank account. Yet that is where this is headed.

I have escalated this to federal regulators, including the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Every call, every visit, and every fee is documented.

Executive leadership:
You do not get to hold accounts hostage to generate service charges.

Close the account retroactive to January 20, 2026.
Reverse every improperly assessed fee.
Provide written confirmation.
Confirm no adverse reporting.

If this is happening to me, it is happening to others.

Consumers deserve to understand exactly how difficult Wells Fargo makes it to leave.

Unacceptable.

I have banked with Wells Fargo for I think for at least 20 years or more. I haven't had terrible problems but the few I have had I have found customer service cold, without care/ empathy where the fault of the issue lied with the bank. If you are looking for the friendly hometown bank this is not the place sadly.

I wish 0 stars was an option.

I wish 0 stars was an option., worst bank I have ever had to deal with!! My mother in law opened accounts for her grand children. She later died and the bank makes it completely impossible to get that so your children never receive what their grandma saved for them!! They are crooks!! I tried for several years, gave them everything they asked for and then they just ended communication and I gave up but I’m not happy they know exactly what they are doing!!!!

WF is getting worse

I am a long time banking client. WF was good. It does feel now like management it trying to push clients out. To activate a card at other banks you need to call from your cel and put in the last four of the card number. They know its you. At Wells, they decided we all need to call from our cel, put in the full number, date, security code and Social Security #. The last two you should not be putting in a cel call) I don't know what else as I had to get back to work. Closing the account. Wells saves 1.5 cents on cheaper stickers that do not come off the card. You have to use solvent. Selling our WF stock too as management is getting even worse.

The worst bank I have ever had the pleasure of using. Their website is straight from the 90s and you know the technology is worse behind the scenes. Literally nothing works, links in your email? dont work, dispute or claims status. doesnt work? The phone number they added in the email also doesn't work. Worst bank I have ever seen, trying everything in my power to make them go under. Telling all my friends and family to avoid. Just chose Chase bank, they suck sometimes too but they are 10x better, way happier with them.

LOVE WF for online banking; HATE CS phone calls

LOVE WF for online banking; lots of great services. BUT their "live CS" is terrible! Phone help must all be from Asia, they don't speak understandable English, talk to fast from scripts, and have to repeat numerous times to even understand them. Fine if you get overseas phone banks to help customers, but PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. They read from "scripts" and are unintelligible.

My husband and I have been using Wells Fargo for over thirty years. Their customer service is getting worse. We have our mortgage with them which is almost paid off. My husband doesn't like change, so he wants to stay with Welles Fargo. I am tired of being disrespected and treated like I am worthless. The staff acts like they are so entitled. Who is the customer here???? PLEASE don't open an account with Welles Fargo. You will regret it.
