AVOID THIS RENTAL COMPANY. I rented for 3 days a car from the WHEEGO company. When i pick up the car , which the employ would deliver to us, it was a 2018 model, full of bumps, scratches and dents. I pointed out to the employ that because it was dark and the car was wet, it was not possible to note all the dents on the contract. He replied that we will mark the most serious scratches and the rest we will not mark. After that they hold a deposit of 6,000 RON (€1,200) on my credit card. He also pointed out to me that if I don't return the car washed and clean he will charge me €150.00. After that i returned the car washed and clean to the facilities of the WHEEGO. The employ who was going to pick it up (different from the employ who delivered the car to me), started recording all the scratches the car had, even the smallest ones that were barely visible to the naked eye. I explained to him that his colleague, because it was impossible to record all the scratches and dents, noted the most important ones. This particular employee, who also had a bad attitude towards me, wanted to forcibly attribute some of the scratches on the car to me. I explain to him that I took too care of the car and didn't do any damage. Finally he assured me that everything is fine and in the next few days he will release the 6,000 RON deposit from my credit card. I was surprised to find in the following days that the deposit was not released from my card but I was charged the full amount (6,000 RON ). I tried to contact the WHEEGO company on the phone and by email , with no result. After 2 weeks I received the answer that the warranty (6,000 RON ) was indeed withheld because they found (after I handed over the car), two very small dents, one on the front hood and one on the roof of the car. They estimated the damage at 4,675.55 RON (€935.11), and together with the administration fees the total amount they charge me is: 5,240.20 RON(1.054,15€)out of the 6,000 RON (1.200€) of the deposit and they will refund me 759.80 RON(152,84€) . I do not recognize the attribution of the damage and I ask to be refunded the deposit that was illegally charged to me. I believe it is common practice to rent cars at a very low price in order to withhold the deposit from customers accusing to them some minor damage. If there was a negative rating I would give it to them.
I have already filed a complaint to the local authorities.

Avoid this car hire company at all costs. Despite their low upfront prices, you’ll end up paying just as much—if not more—than you would with a reputable, established provider. Hidden fees and awful customer service make this a deeply regrettable choice.
I booked through Bookings.com and was shocked to be charged double for child booster seats. When I emailed the company to request an explanation, they flat-out ignored my message. I also asked them to release the €200 deposit they had blocked on my card. They claimed it had been released, but my bank confirmed otherwise.
I hired the car on 15 August, returned it on 18 August, and as of now, they’re still holding my deposit.
Their business model seems designed to maximise profit at the customer’s expense, with little regard for transparency or basic service standards. A quick glance at their reviews reveals a pattern of similar complaints—this isn’t a one-off. UPDATE: Don't be fooled by the response from Wheego below. My deposit is still held by them, and my bank has confirmed again that they have not released it.

We rent a car for one week in Albania (Total200€) with this company and only when we arrive we discover that:
- insurance was practically obligatory (240€ more)
- was no possible drive in road perfectly paved (consider that this was not write in reservation and in Albania 30%of road are unpaved)
- they give us a car with some noise from engine compartment
- also if paying insurance they declare that all was included and to not keep deposit they keep other 500€ more because they declare that we drive in unpaved road
- the worst experience with rental cars

Bad service. Very long delay for the shuttle (more than an hour). The worst between the companies
I hired a car online for pick up at Frankfurt airport terminal 1. Had to do an online registration including pictures of my passport and driving licence only to be asked to show them again. Pointless exercise. Couldn't find the car and was then told it was at terminal 2. Got a different car at my location. The car was dirty and damaged. The damage was noted on the rental contract. I took pictures and videos anyway. Couldn't return the car at terminal 1 where I picked it up but had to go to terminal 2. Nobody was present so I was forced to leave the car unchecked and drop the key in a box. Realised a few days later that my €900 deposit hadn't been returned but I had zero communication from them. After chasing them up they claimed the car had fresh damage. It didn't and the "fresh" damage was exactly as described in my rental contract. Made them aware and, again, no communication for a week. After threatening legal action I eventually had my deposit returned.
Note, they don't just reserve €900 on your credit card, they take the money at the point of hire.

Seriously DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!
I can not stress this enough. If I could give 0 or even negative stars I would
Extremely dishonest .
Had an issue in regards to a toll fair that I was unaware of in Austria, no notice or toll booth.
I had all the correct vignettes for all countries travelled & had correctly paid all tolls, whoever there was a mix up in regards to one. Whilst we were in contact with the relevant Austrian departments to pay either the toll or fine if required and had notified Wheego of this situation. They Allegedly paid the fine & then charged us another €99 in admin fees
Net result a toll we could of paid for around €10 ended up costing us €220 ($390 AUD) & was taken out of our hands as there was nothing the relevant authority could then do.
Please learn from our mistake in using this company and all

Never trust this company. They gave me a car full of damages, partly not written down. Impossibly to see and check all in the darkness of this covered garage. Although I had all insurances possible taken and only rented 1 day im still receiving claims.
Be very careful of hidden charges. My contract said the car would have a full tank of fuel so return it with a full tank, which I did. They then took £90 for fuel off my card without telling me
Avoid!

Do not work with them. Have to go to court against them now, because of their lie and lack of humanity, AVOID.

Cheaters! Upon return they found a damage that was impossible to see when i picked the car up in the evening. For sure they knew about it before as the guy found the damage, the last second of the check. Very convenient.
Fact: the T&C document provided at the time of booking stated that a credit card in the main driver's name would be required. The kind of language normally found in car rental documents.
Fact: at the time of vehicle collection at Kraków Airport, the company came up with a new requirement that the card must include the full first name of the main driver. My card includes initials + surname and it has never been an problem.
Fact: the company offered to accept the card after all, as long as I took full insurance (FDW) and fuel with them, worth a few hundred euros. Else, the vehicle would not be released.
My worst experience in 30 years or car rentals.
Why Ryanair or Rentalcars.com associate with them, I do not know. I would be embarrassed.
P.S.
I reached out to the customer care team following their reply on the 2nd Sept. It looks caring, so why not?
I can report that, after exchanging a few emails, it became clear that the company were not prepared to reflect on what had happened. This only served to prolong the trauma I was hoping to put behind.

Unreasonable Rules & Poor Service
I strongly advise against using Wheego. When I arrived to collect my booking at Gdansk Airport, my credit card was refused simply because it showed my initials and surname (as it has for over 20 years). This has never been an issue with any other company, and yet Wheego insisted on this unreasonable rule without any valid explanation.
Even worse, they had already accepted my card during the booking process and charged me £57.76. When I couldn’t collect the car, they offered no refund and even asked for additional payment — which felt like an attempt to take extra money on top of what I had already paid.
This experience wasted my time, ruined my plans, and left me feeling cheated. A company that treats customers like this cannot be trusted. Avoid Wheego at all costs.
This company is an absolute disgrace. If you are thinking of renting here, DON’T. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the humiliation.
We had a confirmed drop-off at 10:30 AM at the Bergamo agency. We arrived early at 10:25 AM—only to find the office locked and empty. After calling the WhatsApp number, a representative named Letizia showed up 25 minutes late (at 10:50 AM), even though we told her again and again that we had a flight at 11:00 AM.
Instead of apologizing, she tried to force us to leave immediately without checking the car. When we insisted (rightfully) on a proper inspection and clearance document, her attitude completely changed. She became rude, dismissive, and refused to help us. Honestly, we have to ask: is it even legal to force customers to leave a rental car without checking it and giving them proof of return?
We were then left outside in the rain, with a small baby, while I am pregnant. Letizia ignored us, served other clients, and coldly snapped:
“You wanted the car checked first, so now you have to wait.”
By 11:30 AM, desperate to catch our flight, we asked again about the airport transfer (which is normally included in the rental). Her response?
“You have to go on your own.”
That was the final insult. We were forced to pay for an Uber, and because of this outrageous treatment, we missed our flight.
This wasn’t just bad service — it was unprofessional, disrespectful, and inhumane. We were treated with zero care, zero responsibility, and zero respect as customers.
- This company ruined our trip.
- Do not trust them with your travel plans.
- They will leave you stranded.
Choose literally any other rental agency at Bergamo Airport — you’ll thank yourself later.

If there are less than 1 star, I'll give it a wide berth. Stay away from this car rental, read again and again, and remember those words: just a couple of pounds extra, and you're happy to stay away. Very, very bad experinace with them never again.
This company is corrupted to the core! We used the one in Malaga. Firstly, we arrived almost an hour late to collect our vehicle. It wasn't clean and we had to sit and wait until this was done. Not ideal when you have children. They made me sign the waiver before I saw the vehicle. The damage report showed no damages however when I got it there was a large scratch/dent along the side of the door.
Then when we went to return the vehicle, 2 guys were rushing over. One rushed over to the driver's front light and declared there was damage the other was helping to unload our belongings out of it. The first guy started to inform me that I had damaged the vehicle. He pointed out the massive dent in the door and there was also damage to the mirror and the front driver light. I had taken a walk around video which thankfully showed the damage on the door and mirror. The light was harder to see but I believe the worker either did it while we were unloading or knew about it from before. He then estimated the damage to be around 1200 eur then 2 weeks later the quote for the work comes through for that value. A coincidence i think not!
Rented the car in Prague for 28 days.
They scammed has too with 150 Euro for cleaning fees. Car was pretty clean, with a couple of empty water bottles left behind and they charged us 150 for that.
Rude dishonest
I rent cars frequently around Europe and this was by far one of the worst experiences. The price advertised by Rentalcars/Wheego looked fair, but once at the counter I was hit with unexpected “mandatory” extras. Despite already purchasing Full Protection Insurance (Zurich) through Rentalcars, Wheego forced me to pay an additional “Premiumschutz” insurance (~30 €) – pure double charging.
On top of that, they added hidden broker and cross-border fees, which were never made clear when booking. In the end, the rental cost me more than double the original price shown online. Staff gave me no choice: either pay or walk away without a car.
This kind of practice is misleading, unprofessional, and feels like a scam. I strongly recommend avoiding Wheego (and being very cautious with Rentalcars) if you don’t want to be overcharged and disappointed.
Rented with Wheego at Malaga. We were given the wrong directions to find the pick up point so wasted time. Also during holiday we had a nail in our tyre. We had taken out the extra insurance and were told this cover included break down cover. However Wheego did not resolve the issue and told us it was our problem to sort out. Extremely rude on the phone to us with no customer service evident! We were told that we would get our insurance premium of 250 euros back because of the inconvenience. However 2 months later we are still waiting for reply to an email. Also called to chase but told that we just have to wait and I was cut off!! DONT RENT WITH THESE PEOPLE!!
This is the worst car hire company I’ve ever dealt with. Their only aim is to get as much money from their customers, no matter what. They use multiple ways to scam people and pray on fact that you don’t have a choice and get bullied into unexpected fees, which make their services actually very expensive so if you think their prices are affordable you’ll be very mistaken in the end.
In our case what was supposed to be a £160 car hire ended up costing us nearly £400 in the end!
