Scam : In the small print there is that credit card needs to be valid for 12 months.
So mine was 4 months when collecting the car. They said if we took an additional insurance of 60€ per day they would accept the card.
No refund. We hired with other companies without problem.
Never wheego again they are stealing your money, scammers

I rented a car at Hamburg Airport. When inspecting the car at pickup, we noticed 2 damages (scratches) to the car that were not listed on the cars prior damages.
We immediately documented this and sent them the photos of it. After returning the car, we have now received a damages invoice of over 500€ for the exact scratches that we found at car inspection! The money has been subtracted from our 900€ deposit, is effectively stolen for a damage we did not cause.
I have yet to receive a response to any of my E-Mails and will now have to get a lawyer involved to get my money back...
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Rented me a car with a near empty tank. Supplied proof with photos to the desk via email and to returning attendant. Then they charged me 198 Euro for 44 litres to fill the tank. Thieves. Won't answer phones or return emails.
Response to cut and paste reply from Wheego;
I have phoned your customer service team and they didn't care. I have emailed your customer service team on more than one occasion. I have received zero replies in return. I have also contacted the booking agent I used. They also haven't had a response. I repeat, your company are thieves. Do you think the thousands of people who have complained about your company on Trustpilot and other review sites are lying? Or just maybe your company really is scum.

Hired a car from the Manchester base operating from the Clayton hotel, 10 September to 14 September.
I had taken full insurance out with another company prior to collecting the car.
The car was a Corsa, 2025 plate, very few miles on the clock. Great car.
However, on the 12 September 2025 the car had a puncture. I contacted the Manchester branch and was advised to have the tyre replaced with one of the same make and standard.
I contacted a local tyre company in Penistone who looked at the tyre and said they would have to order a new tyre of the same standard and it would be there on the 13 September. I left the car in the garage overnight and left a contact number for them to ring once it was replaced. The cost of the replacement was £150 which included a new valve and balancing.
There was slight damage to the wheel rim which they estimated to cost between £80-£110 pounds to repair.
I returned the car on the 14 September 2025, after a long discussion I was told that £840 would be taken from my credit card whilst an accident report was been generated. If the repair cost was lower I would be reimbursed with the value. They said i would have a report by Friday 19 September.
I contacted them by phone on Monday to say that the report had not been received, they sent me an email address to request the report and said they would respond within 24 hours, they did not respond as stated. i sent a further email, 24 September, requesting the report, the report arrived at 17.59.
Looking at the report I noticed the following
Credit card charge £840
Cost of repairs £842.50
Coincidence?
Breakdown of costs
Left front tyre replaced £197.31
New valve £3.04
Left front wheel £169.34 (no detail of repair)
Total £369.69
They are saying that they replaced a brand new tyre with less than 60 miles on it for another new one. However, I have to question their report as it states that the tyre wear on each front tyre was exactly the same.
I phoned the Manchester branch to complain about the report was interrupted several times when explaining my concerns and had the phone put down on me.
A few minutes later Ibrahim contacted me and we discussed my concerns to which he basically said that they have to replace new tyres with new tyres because its policy.
I said he was taking nonsense and that what they are doing is nothing short of a scam.
They have matched the repair costs to the amount taken off my credit card, they said that the car would go back to the leasing company for an accident report, it went back to a company called Fix Auto Worsley.
I will report them to Trading Standards by sending them my - videos, photos, invoices and reports.
I will also send the same information to the Insurance company I used for Full Protection.

Rented a car at Manchester Airport for a two-day trip to Liverpool. Because we had an early flight back, I had to leave the keys in a key box. I had to park the car in a dark, unlit parking lot. Because I hadn't received my deposit back after three days, I sent them an email. To my surprise, I received a reply saying they had tried to call me about something related to the terms and conditions, asking me to call them. During the call, I was told the car had been damaged during my rental (the car was in a private, enclosed garden). They would immediately send photos and further details of the damage. The deposit (€1,750) would not be refunded. The call was abruptly cut off, saying it was my problem.
Unfortunately, I never heard from them again. I'm now taking legal action to resolve the matter.
Advice: don't do business with these scammers and fraudsters. You'll be ripped off!!!
Although Wheego suggests below that they're taking the matter seriously, I received a message a few days later with a meaningless copy of the intake form and the attached message that the matter has been handled for them. There was no response to my request for verified photos (which they couldn't/won't provide). THEY ARE SCAMMERS.

Rented a car for 2 days from Liverpool Airport, UK. Claimed that our credit card for deposit was unable to be taken as the full name wasn’t on the card, only 2 initials and a surname. The only other option was to charge us an extra £60 for the booking and only take £50 as a deposit. Will not be using Wheego again.

Incorrect documentation of pre-existing damages and refusal to take responsibility for it
Wheego presented an inaccurate picture of the pre-existing damages on the rental contract. There were several scratches that were not documented on the contract. I took photos of the car before I used it and sent the photos to Wheego. They refused to correct the error and insisted that these damages had happened during my rental (because I had already signed the contract with the incomplete documentation). I was charged 248 Euros for a damage. My 2 advices for customers: a) Don't rent with Wheego! b) If you have no other option than renting with Wheego: don't sign the rental contract before you have not inspected the car thouroughly. Unfortunately this will cost you a lot of time, because the rental office and the carpark are on different floors (Vienna airport) and you will probably have to queue twice. Christoph Meran

I recently had the misfortune to rent a car from Wheego in Frankfurt. I took images of the car when I collected it. No damage occured to the car during my rental period. On returning the car the Wheego attendant alleged damage had occured. I disputed this with my photos as proof. The Wheego attendant said no need to worry as the car went through a 360 degree scanner on exit and return. I have received a claim from Wheego for 1769.34 Euro for the non existent damage. All the documents are in German despite the fact my drivers license shows a UK address and I have repeatedly requested that their baseless allegations are at lesst understandable. Despite numerous emails to Wheego they refuse to engage with my dispute. I did buy excess cover from Carrentals ( Third party hiring platform). I am now told by Carrentals the the damage is actually 900 Euro plus a 175Euro "processing fee." I find it extremely suspicious, in fact not believeable, that 900 Euro is exactly the same amount deducted from my credit card as a deposit when I collected the vehicle. I have been hiring cars for the past 30 years and Wheego are without doubt the worst and most deceitful and disingenuous car hire firm I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I challenge the CEO of Wheego to contact me via this platform, or indeed any of the numerous emails sent to his disreputable organistion.
I have now emailed Wheego 5 times. The only replies I receive appear to be additional invoices for what may be 'administration fees' but I can't be sure as they are in German. I have made it abundantly clear to Wheego that I don't speak German. No attempt by Wheego to respond to my specific claims in any way. Please avoid Wheego at all costs.
Thanks for reading

Scam company — avoid! Wheego didn’t honor my reservation, forced me to pay extra, gave me a damaged car that broke down, and then tried to keep my €900 deposit for damage that was already there. Dishonest and predatory.
Edit 8/10/25 after reply from Wheego.
I successfully disputed the charges with my credit card provider and would not trust your company to resolve any of these issues. I attempted multiple times to resolve the issue at the time when I was having the problem, and your “customer service” was rude, unhelpful and did not keep any of their promises.
Again, do NOT use this company.

I booked a car second time with this company. I found it strange they had my credit card details from before. I checked the car lots of scratches I was advised it was all on the sheet. Poor lighting in the yard I videod as best I could with the 11.30pm arrival. Both staff agreed all was on the sheet. I queried the scratches at the back of the car I was advised it is on the sheet. I was offered insurance for 350e as he was feeling good he would reduce to 300e. I declined as I have insurance for 52e. Company way overcharging. They were not impressed. I arrived at my destination no water in the wipers. They advised today I should have called them. Very dangerous at night no water in the car. I brought the car back spotless and I was advised to take it to the garage down the road it was short petrol. We had filled it same garage 12 years full full. We duly went to the garage and bought 2e worth of petrol. Cutting it fine now with our flight time. On return the lady couldn’t find what ever she was looking for to check the car. Another 15 mins at least I advised we are going to miss our flight. The car is full of dust from the sand in the air. The lady started rubbing the sand off the car and mysteriously found the scratches we highlighted that Fernando and his friend with brilliant English said it’s documented. Now they are charging 1500e if I ever saw a scam multiple scratches. If we had scratched the car we have the insurance not a bother we had it noted. Just so happens they were the topic of conversation in the pub the night before I didn’t believe it. I do now. I am travelling 20 years to Alicante this is the lowest if you don’t buy the insurance they will find that scratch. I will do my utmost to get a law raised for this fraud. How many more people arriving into Alicante are getting caught???

Beware of the scam they operate. I booked a car via wheego via enjoytravel.com. When I went to pick it up, they rejected my credit card, even though it works everywhere else. They said they could take it from my debit card, charged me over 400 pounds. Then, they do not return your deposit, and say this was unpgrade because they say your credit card was not working. Taking this to small claims court

This company is a complete disgrace. They have charged me for damage on a rental car that was there at the time of pick up. I have date stamped pictures to prove this yet they charged my credit card and then sent a ficticious damage report saying the cost of the repair was 4000 euros!! AVOID AVOID AVOID no matter how cheap they are. I have been using car hire companies for over 20 years and never had an issue.

Reply from Wheego-mobility.com
Don’t use these slimy crooks, they will fleece your insurance company and cause you a great deal of inconvenience along the way if you let your guard down and allow them to find the smallest damage to the car that you haven’t caused and the sort of damage that a reputable company would ignore.
My experience was at the Alicante branch and seems to be common with many others, it’s a shame that Stressfree car rental use these fraudsters.

One of the worst car hire companies I’ve ever dealt with! I wish I could give negative stars as a rating!!!
Car was booked for 19.00 but our flight was delayed and landed at 19.40. 5 minutes walk to the car hire place and a 90 minutes wait to get to the desk for the car! Assistant behind the counter went for a smoke so we had to wait longer!
Finally got to the desk to find out because we were not there at 19.00 they gave our car away and had no other cars available. I told him we had been waiting outside for 90 minutes which he denied and said he would check the cctv footage!!!
In the meantime he denied a car to a couple with a baby. This meant that their car was available but he wouldn’t give us that car because we were late. All the time, he sat there with a smirk on his face and when I got angry with him, he decided to close the doors and go!
Absolutely terrible company that I couldn’t possibly recommend. Ended up going back into the airport and renting with Avis car hire that were so accommodating even though it was late at night and we hadn’t booked in advance. Never ever ever use Wheego - you will seriously regret it!

Alicante branch. Hired a vehicle for the week. Had suspicions when I picked it up that they were dodgy. Fortunately, photographed every inch before we drove off. There were lots of dinks and scratches. When I returned it, they scoured every panel and pointed out a dent that was barely perceptible to the naked eye (their weekly money-making dent!). Fortunately, I had a photo of it. They're a scam company. Their profit comes from the dent scams.
