Do not purchase. Sneaky company, bad product.

Do not purchase. The device and software was very buggy right out of the box during setup, but after making some adjustments, it worked alright. Every time I needed to change the battery, it was the same long process of attaching and reattaching, testing the connection to the app, forcing the app to stop, reopening it, removing the device from wifi, putting it back on wifi, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, just to get the software to recognize a new fully charged battery was attached. I did not allow the battery to die at any point before replacing with a new fully charged battery.

About 3 months into using the device, it stopped working completely. No tracking information was available for two weeks, and the device would not recognize any of the four fully charged batteries when attached. The device and batteries were not damaged in any way, not exposed to water, no dirt build up, or other environmental factors that might impact a successful battery change.

Customer service is a joke. They ask for unnecessary or already provided information and photos in order to "diagnose" the problem, which is just that they've sent out a device that doesn't work correctly, and that they have developed software that is inconsistent and flaky. No reason for the devices problems were ever given, or an acknowledgement that the devices sold didn't work properly. Just an offer to send out new devices.

If you for any reason decide to go with this company, be sure to email their legal department in the first 30 days to let them know that you are retaining your right to legal action and that you are opting out of their EULA that only allows for internal arbitration. They are selling a product they know doesn't work properly, and give the consumer absolutely no way of disputing the problems other than on their terms and turf.

The solution they offer is to simply continue to send you faulty and shoddily made devices to go with their barely functional app. They do not want the bad devices back, so you will end up with a graveyard of Whistle batteries and collars. And even worse, you will spend all this time, money, and effort, only to be unable to rely on the device to help you locate your pet. It's irresponsible for the company to keep sending out bad devices that they know won't function when the customer needs them most.

NOT WATERPROOF!!!

NOT WATERPROOF!!!! I have been a whistle customer for over 3 years. Whistle was great for the first 3 years, but they have changed manufacturing process and deny any changes. I have used my collar on my duck hunting dog without any issues for 3 years. BUT, I have had to replace 3 whistle go units in the past 30 days!!! Every time the unit gets wet, the unit stops working. Be aware if your dog gets wet, the unit will not work despite they claims that the unit is waterproof to 6 feet!! False advertising in every way possible.

Third Whistle in less than two years

Customer support is sending me my 3rd Whistle as they keep malfunctioning. Expedited shipping is not an option, so we will be hitting the trail without a fully functioning device. And while this is my 3rd Whistle in 2 years, getting a refund for my last replacement is not an option either, as it has been longer than 30 days. Quality appears to be suffering, not a business trying to develop raving fans either. You could be in for an ok experience, or a problematic experience that will have you wishing you tried a different device. Best of luck!

Best GPS for our Sophie

This is my second POSITIVE review for Whistle. Previous one , maybe 2 years ago, and we are still going strong! We live at high altitude in Colorado, trees, boulders, more trees. Our Sophie is a super fast 4 y/o terrier/mutt who loves to run, hike and chase squirrels( she never catches them)always wears Whistle when we are outside or hiking . It really does his job , every single day. The only negative is the monthly charge. Well worth it. Will buy again.

Dishonest behaviour

Dishonest behaviour: they have been pulling 95,40 USD every year for 4 years from my card, despite I gave the device back a couple weeks after reception (Dec 2019), due to poor performance. Customer service forced us to download the app in order to cancel subscription but didn't give our money back. A subscription related only to a device that has been given back? There is no service without the device: what did I pay for? This is not honest! Stay away from this company!

Don't buy this collar

Don't buy this collar. Not user friendly. I never actually used the collars and forgot I had signed up for a multi year subscription. Yes that is an additional cost. Thank goodness my card on file needed to be upgraded so they reached out via email. I responded no to the new subscription especially since I live in Spain where the App doesn't even work. I requested Whistle terminate my subscription immediately and send proof that it has been done and that my personal data has been removed from their databases. Ironically they have frozen my account where I wouldn't be able to access even if I wanted. Horrible customer support, no sense of urgency.

Terrible Support!!

Maybe the product is good but the support is TERRIBLE. Don’t purchase this product. We had the product for six months and it worked well at the beginning. For no reason it’s no longer connecting to Wi-Fi. The battery drains in less than a day. There’s no way to get any support. You cannot speak with anyone without leaving a message, and they may or may not call or email for days. When I finally spoke with someone I said they must have employee shortages, but they said it’s because of “changes in the way they do things” and did not elaborate. I tried to escalate to a manager who wanted me to check router settings on my system. I’ve done everything asked as well as I could and requested a replacement. There’s no response from anyone. If you need any support you cannot get it. Do not purchase this product.

JUNK!! after 9 YRS they suck.

Have been a customer for over 9 years. Was forced to buy a new device when 3G was no longer available. I have had this new device for just barely over a year. It is no longer transmitting text messages to me when the dog leaves the home. Whistle says 1 year warranty and won't replace it because it has been just over a year and is out of warranty. After 9 years of being their customer and the device being a piece of junk, I will buy a new device with a different company. DO NOT BUY A WHISTLE !

Since we bought Whistle

Since we bought Whistle, at a friend’s suggestion, it has honestly saved our dog’s life more than once. Without Whistle, we would not have been able to find him in subfreezing temperatures with more than a foot of snow in the ground. Our miniature schnauzer is an escape artist and likes to run! Without Whistle and its most amazing tracking feature I shudder to think where the dog would be and his life expectancy. We’ve been very satisfied Whistle customers for the past 3 years and highly recommend it to anyone with a pet.

One of the best purchases I've ever made!

Device has been flawless since I purchased from the Whistle website in March of 2020. I have been saved from losing my dog Piper multiple times solely due to my whistle and how accurate the tracking is. The company also regularly releases updates and the app has improved significantly in the time I've had the device, especially when it comes to tracking allergies and licking/scratching. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

LOVE This!!!

I am so glad I decided to get the Health/GPS Whistle for my dog. The GPS is accurate and gives updates on your pet. I would recommend this to everyone!

Terrible customer service

We enjoyed using this product but it stopped working after 6 months. We spoke in detail with customer service who sent us an email that a replacement was on it's way. When it never showed up we called, again, and they said the email was sent in error and they would not sending a replacement and could we AGAIN explain the issue??? We decided to just order a new one and paid for 2-day shipping only to receive notification that we wouldn't receive for 5 days! Horrible customer service.
