BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!

Spend the xtra money and go with a company that actually cares if you’re satisfied and provides quality work and product. Trust me!
I am not one to write reviews but this one I feel is my duty to warn others before you spend money on crappy service/product. Windows are quite a chunk of money. I know why Window World was the least expensive now. First off they called early and said they’d be out between 10:30-11:30. Great! So far so good. Well, they showed up at 1ish and didn’t notify us of the delay- my husband had to call to make sure they were still coming. Since they do all windows in a single day- it was late when they finished. The lead guy showed us windows in each room and how they work. I walked around the outside of the house to inspect as they have you sign a sheet making sure they are cleared of any issues. I realize now this is because they want to put the responsibility off on the consumer if something doesn’t work right once they leave. I chose to walk around the outside of the house and visually inspect - I noticed that the window frames had the antique bronze scratched off in a lot of spots from installation. We paid an xtra $250 per window for this color and that was very disappointing. He had one of his guys use spray paint to correct them. Yes, I said spray paint! There are drip marks and he got it on our white brick. It was getting dark and that was hard to see at the time. The next day after installation, I open 4 windows. When I close them later in the day they will not lock - the windows would get pushed out and off track when trying. I contacted customer service and spoke with a condescending lady who was short and acted like I’m stupid. She told me to push at the top of the sash of the window. I told her that it’s 10ft tall and she said get a ladder! So I did and asked her what good that would do. She argued and I had to explain to her a couple of times these particular windows are single hung. (We have double and single) She then said she could not read the mapping of the windows in our house that the sales rep provided and she would have a supervisor reach out. He did the same day. He told me to slam them really hard and they should lock! Alrighty, so I need to slam brand new windows?? That didn’t work so he said he’d have someone out to repair the next day. Low and behold, someone did come out the next day. He was a bit cocky and proceeded to SHOW me how easy the windows are to lock. He messed with a couple and got one to function as intended. He then had me shut the window so he could make sure I’m doing it properly LOL!! Really? Well guess what it wouldn’t lock again. He repeatedly argued said it was fixed and then started having issues himself, after 20 min of this he said that the crew should have never left without checking them. He said he was escalating to his supervisor, Jeral or something like that and would have a crew out next day to rehang the windows. He also said as he was leaving that he was sorry about this. I said well it’s not your fault and his response was - Yah your right it’s not. WTH talk about unprofessional. I have not heard back from anyone yet and have now missed 2 days of work as well and looks like will need a 3rd day off if they ever show up. This was on Thursday and it is now Saturday. Really upset that we’ve spent our hard earned money with a company that apparently does not value quality or the consumer. I’m concerned that any future warranty claim is going to be dismissed at this point. We shall see. Really disappointed as this was a big purchase.

**** UPDATE**** Jeral came out Sunday after I wrote this review, He says it’s a manufacturing issue and will replace the sashes on all 4 windows. If that does not solve the issue he will have them all replaced. 3-4 weeks wait. Will post updates.

Never Never Never buy from WindowWorld. From the shoddy installation and incompetent installers to the Branch Manager who has lost sight of customer service, this was one of the worst experiences I have had with a company.

Inferior Materials. Poor Workmanship.

Their so-called "installer(s)" use inferior materials. They definitely do not know how to use a tape-measure and/or square. No clue how to recognize a dull sawblade. Excessive tearout. Broken/cracked trim work. Nail heads left 'high'. In such cases, nails where not countersunk, the heads were bentover instead. Nail holes where left unfilled. A definite overuse of caulking to hide their errors and goofs.
Weatherstripping is separating from the door after several months. Doors are not hung plumb to the door frame. Door frames do not 'lineup' with the installed trim. The new, installed doors are inches narrow than the former doors. These are exterior doors. Window World used hardware intended for interior doors.

Our local hobby shop has better looking woodcraft items than the trim work around my doors. Alignment is much better, and tight corners, also.

Here today, gone tomorrow. Wham, bam, thank-you ma'am.....

Lying about which windows they can replace

During our initial phone conversation, I had asked if they could replace the jalousie window, and they told me yes and sent a man to come take measurements a week later. The day of, I get a call saying that Window World can't install new jalousie windows, and can only replace it with a different type. I do not know why they decided to waste my time and not tell me upfront, but they have managed to waste my and their time with a useless lie.

This company sucks… i have delt with…

This company sucks… i have delt with them for windows and siding… only reason i went with them was due to the financing. Fist of the job was started in the middle of winter when they stated they were going to start that late summer.. the guys didnt even wnna be on the job site.. it took them untill fall of the following year to complete.. after leaving I noticed nails all over the place. Siding not over lapped properly and all the metal trim for the faca was all bent up and looked like crap.. i called complained and they sent the boss of the company to fix it.. all he did was cobb job it. I have about 10 seams across a 20 ft span.. where they piece mailed it together.. it hasn’t even been 10 months sense the fixed it as they say and the metal is falling off my house. And its falling off on areas thats new construction so there shouldn’t be any reason other than not done properly… the trim all around the windows looks all jacked up to and there answer was well it is what it is.. i pay a hefty monthly bill for a half assed crap job.. ive tried contacting the company to fix the stuff that has fell off and no response.. these guys hire rag tag sub contractors to do there work.. its a scam and ashame what they do. This is Window World upstate NY

My installer Mark

My installer Mark, did a fantastic job of removing my old windows, and installing the new windows . I wouldn’t hesitate to have Mark return to my home and do any window repair work or another installation in the future. Overall it was a very pleasant experience!!

Now a better view through New windows.

Finding a company that will work on a manufactured home can be difficult. Window World Reno replaced the remaining old windows at a competitive price. The installers were on time and professional. Window quality high, well made, and work done very quickly. I highly recommend the product and firm!

Disappointing Windows

I was pleased with the windows for about 2 weeks. Then we got some cold west winds and could feel the air leaking through the frame and the sash. I had specifically asked about air leakage, and the sales rep assured us that we would not feel air coming in. WRONG! Such a disappointing product.

Never Again

We purchased basement windows and waited 4 months for them to be installed. We paid half when we purchased with the other half due upon completion. Finally they were installed but the installer said he could not complete the job until we dug about 6 inches down into the window wells. Until we did that, he could not seal the window. I was upset because if we were told this beforehand we would not have purchased, as we cannot dig it. This means we would need to hire someone, costing even more money. I was not going to pay until the job was done, as agreed upon, but Window World in Southern Colorado stated the installation was done and sealing was something different. They also stated that we did not give them access to the windows because the dirt was there. How would we know that this is considered not having access to the windows? Why weren't we told this by the salesman that did all the measurements etc.? There is no dirt even touching the window. Anyway, they were very poor with communication and on top of that told us they were putting a lien on our house and would report us for theft. Very disappointing and extremely unethical.

i purchased 4 Vinyl windows and full length screens. the screens are to short leaves an opening across the top or bottom depending which way you pull the screen.

i purchased 4 windows this time.I have bought 8 in the pass 4 at a time do to money. i did not know the company was sold and the new owners had changed suppliers. I wish they had told me or I should of asked. The new builders make a very cheap window and screen unit compare to what I had bought from the old owners who I dealt with I believe it was A.M.I windows they had lifetime limited warranty great construction I have pictures how A.M.I I believe that was window worlds builder then. now these new owners in my opinion just have a window. My windows once locked if pulled down will move inches up and down but is hidden with all the vinyl sides or tracks. the screens are short about 1/4 inch in length so the top of the screen has a opening across the top of the window. they want to add an addition to the top to make up for the shortage instead of making the screen the right length. nothing has been done since Dec 2023. Every time they send out an installer to check the problem they get weaker and weaker in pulling the window down while locked. I would be glad to change the review if the problem is corrected to my satisfaction. Please window world solve this problem to my satisfaction.

We had several windows and sliding door…

We had several windows and sliding door replaced earlier this year. One of the windows had a flaw and it took 3 weeks to get the new window. One of the screens on another window has a flaw and when reported to the sales person he said he would inform the company. The screen has never been replaced and I chose to keep the drapes closed when I sit in my chair that can see the flaw. You get what you pay for and the price was cheaper than the two other estimates.

It Doesn't Get Better With Window World…

It Doesn't Get Better With Window World of Washington DC

After much written communication with Window World personnel in the Wash DC office (They are a franchise), Window World Consumer Relations Department in the head office in Wilkesboro, NC, and the franchise owner, about getting the products (sidiing, a front door, and a storm door) that I contracted and paid for in 2022 completed, I thought I was finally out of the woods at the end of 2023 when all the items were finally all delivered and installed. Unfortunately, I was clearly wrong. Issues with communication, follow through, and quality remain solidly inconsistent.

Quality is now the foremost issue I have with Window World in 2024, although there are the accompanying matters of follow through and communication.

I discovered an opening in the front door sidelight that was installed on May 26th of 2023 as the weather got cooler. I contacted the Regional Manager about a gap in the sidelight of the newly installed front door on October 18th of 2023. This matter was addressed but as usual, later than the promised date.

On January 26th, 2024, the storm door which was also installed on May of 2023 developed a serious problem. It could neither be unlocked from inside nor from outside. I was trapped in my house and unable to use the closest exit. I was concerned about safety and did not wish to sleep in a house I could not exit readily in the event of a fire. Once again, I was forced to contact Window World of Washington DC.

Although the storm door lock had had a similar problem on the day it was installed, I was able to unlock it on that day after several hours of jiggling and maneuvering the lock mechanism before help came. This time, hours of jiggling and maneuvering didn't work. I credit the Regional Manager on this occasion for suggesting that the glass in the door be removed until the next day when he would come inspect the storm door lock. I was fortunate that my neighbor was available to help remove the glass in the storm door.

The Regional Manager himself was unable to unlock the door until he picked it apart with a tool when he came to inspect the door on January 27th, 2024. He did replace the glass in the door and I taped the door lock so that it would not accidentally get stuck again pending it being repaired or replaced. He did inform me that a new lock for the storm door would be susceptible to having the same problem since a mechanism inside the lock turned beyond where it was supposed to which makes it catch in a position that makes it lock in place. The problem is a design flaw.

The Regional Manager promised to order a new lock for the storm door and to contact me within a few weeks. I heard nothing from him since January 27th, 2024 so I contacted him on March 11th, 2024 by which time the seal that holds the glass in the door had started to fail. I now have to constantly push the seal into it's grove because it won't stay in place. A promise to get back to me the next day was not kept. I reached out again on March 18th, 2024. My enquiries at this point were met with brusque responses and no definite date or window of time when the problem would be resolved or my money refunded so I can go purchase a functional door myself. The manager ended our text conversation abruptly on March 18th 2024. A dismissive attitude toward customers does not grow a business. It invites reviews that people would rather not write and law suits.

The quality of the storm door has proven to be totally unacceptable and the level of disregard for customers inexcusably shoddy. This business that stood out in 2016 when I first encountered it, seems to be unable to service customers beyond clinching the initial sale because of fairly low prices.

All comments can be backed by emails, voicemails and screenshots. Feel free to reach out to me for any information. Hopefully this review helps other avoid using Window World of Winchester. The initial measurement went well. Everything was downhill from there. The Winchester manager Angel treating to make me eat my contract. This is after him realizing what he was quoting was actually not on the contract. To make the first payment I had to jump through hoops. I called the Winchester location twice with no response. I called the 1-800 number and was given the contact to the Chantilly, VA location. They were unable to help me but on the fourth try I reached Caprice and my payment was taken. There was a long delay between signing the contract and the remeasure. I had to call about this to get it scheduled. I was told 6-8 from the October meeting. By February things got worse. I was promised by the regional manager Eric that he would handle any further communication and that a crew from outside of Winchester would do the install. Eric said the contract stated we need to start the install within a certain amount of days. No one could show me where in the contract. I reached out to Fairfax county to try and set up a meeting. Window worlds contracts list them for mediation. I was not a resident of Fairfax county and was told to try WV business affairs and given a number. I was then referred to Winchester-Frederick county where the business is located. After going round and round there I decided to move forward with the install. Eric had promised a different crew and financial compensation. On the day of the install Angel became the voice of reason after Eric became irate and was trying to instigate a fight. I wanted to meet to discuss the emails, contract and calls. He made the comment about meeting to fight. At the beginning of this I did as to speak to the owner. Eric refused and said he was the highest level I would talk to.
