Flight delayed to miss connecting flight with airberlin. had to pay my own ticket with lufthansa. staff are lying when they promise refunds.
@airberlin, complaint no V1276095 if you want to check it out!
Do not fly with Air Berlin!
The flight itself is okay and the staff in the plane are helpful, but the customer service is the worst I have any experienced.
They changed our flight from a direct to a stop-over flight, and I they did not even inform us of this. And when you try to contact customer service with a complaint you cannot call them, only send an email. When I did this, I received a link to a long online form to fill out, and then they never responded.
The original complaint was filed March 1st 2015 and I have not received a response from their customer service in spite of having sent them several reminders on email.
So I can only recommend that YOU DO NOT FLY WITH AIR BERLIN as you may have to contact their customer service and it will be a dead end.

Never Again!!!!!
Worste Customer Service. No sense of customer complaint management.
Never again.. and not even left the ground yet..
My impressions after booking a flight from Copenhagen to New York and back, for 5 people.
First of all I think it is unacceptable that the airline charges fee's for booking seats.. That was additionally Eur. 260 on top of the tickets.
Secondly I had to book the seats by phone (and thereby not being able to see what I book), because the functionality was not available online (more than one time.
Thirdly.. I think it is unacceptable that I call airberlins danish phone number just to be told that no danish speaking employees are available to help me book my seats.. Did anybody say Social dumping (what was I to do if I did not speak english ??)
A few "hard learned" experiences which I will definitely have in mind next time i order flight tickets..
Also I regret not checking out trustpilot before making my reservations.. then I would not have made them..
WARNING - fee for seat reservation NOT included
In the beginning of May I bought two tickets from Copenhagen to La Palma. On the screen the price for seats (marked in red) were 0 DKK, and the total price on the screen was 4736 DKK, when I paid for the FlyClassic tickets. On the invoice sent to afterwards via e-mail, the price was suddenly changed to 5156 DKK, because seat reservations were added (2 x 210 DKK). After three e-mails to Airberlin there is still no answer. So customer service from this untrustworthy company is NOT available !!
Unreliable and untrustworthy
Our flight was overbooked. The staff did not ask people to volunteer against a compensation to stay behind but kicked people off the plane at random. We were thus 6 hours delayed on a 1 hour flight. We were promised a compensation, but as we did not want credits to airberlin, we were told we should go through customer service. Six emails later we have still not gotten a reply created by a human being and there is not phone number available for complaints. Our personal costs for this delay was high as it affect our work.
I booked, I paid and got a "Sorry, we are full" at the gate
The customer treatment of this company is ridiculous! They are overbooking the flights way too much! I experienced that today 4 am at the gate when they told that they are overbooked and they had no idea why such thing could happen. Greedy Lyers!
Check your bank accounts after booking tickets by Air Berlin!
I booked a ticket with Air Berlin, and when checking my bank statements afterwards, I realized that Air Berlin has charged me twice for one ticket.
I was delayed during a stopover due to technical problems in Düsseldorf, and the ground staff told me that two persons with my not very common name were traveling on the same plane. We therefore concluded that Air Berlin must have made a mistake. I immediately lodged a complaint to Air Berlin, but now nearly three months after the flight I have not received any answer whatsoever. So be careful with Air Berlin! They may snatch some extra cash out of your pocket!
Scammers
Grotesk unproffesional Scammers.
I cancelled our flight within 24 hours by phone to get a full refund according to their own rules. I was asked to send an email. I did right away and got no answer. Next Day instead of a confirmation of the cancellation, they have withdrawn the amount for the booking on my Visa card. Now 5 days later and several emails, still no answer.
Today I called my bank and made a dispute, but UNBELEAVABLE unproffesional!!!!!!! Like a f... Kindergarten!!!!!!
AND notice- The prices get higer with your cookies. If you visit site again.
The staff is brain washed to put their hands in your pockets. You can not make ANY real conversation with them.
Last summer we had a complain also, and still had no answer eighter...
Grotesk. Grotes. Grotesk.
They are totally mean Scammers. Stay AWAY
Non existing customer service
I have now tryed to send my complain three times using the complaining site, without getting any answer but a machine generated one - Exactly same answer every time I send a complain. Why having a complaining service site with a machine answering the customers? It will only result in a lot of more frustrated and unsatisfied customers.
Worst customer service ever
Went Copenhagen-NYC and back. Flying out we were 1 h and 50 mins late. Going home we missed our connection due to delays. We were told that we'd make it, that they would wait for us and that they'd help us. On the ground no one could care less and we had to wait eight hours on Berlin Tegel, again without any kind of information and an apphauling 5 EUR check as reimbursement. I will never fly Air Berlin again.
Lost luggage - bad, bad service
My luggage was lost on my connecting flight (Berlin - Munich) due to a teribbly short transfer time of 10 minutes and it took 5 (!) days to get it back. The airline works with providers (worldtracer) who then work with other providers (interkep, DPD) and as a customer you have to deal with each of them separately instead of with airberlin. It took several emails, phone calls (some of them unanswered) with each of these providers until my suitcase was finally delivered. After a day they found the wrong suitcase and had to search again. They just shift the whole problem to the customer instead of dealing with it themselves. This is no service at all and I will try to avoid this airline in the future.
Terrible airliner!!! never again.
We were 2,5 hours before boarding at the terminal, however no Airberlin personal was to be found. After 30 min long ques begin to form at the check-in, still no personal. AFTER a full hour the first personal of Airberlin show up setting up everything and start working on 2 of the 7 check-in desks with full ques. After 30 mins all the desks were occupied but were working soooo slowly it was like they wanted everyone to miss there flights. Finally at the check-in we show our QR codes on our smartphones. They don't know how it works!!! So I had to explain what his job was!!!
Eventually we got in on time (5 mins before boarding)... On the flight Airberlin offers free sandwiches but they weren't on board!!! Overall a very unprofessional airliner
Ingen hjælp at hente, og AirBerlin følger ikke EU lovgivning om kompensation.
I just got home from a lovely vacation in Turkey.
It started really bad though.
27th of June 2014:
In Copenhagen our plane (AirBerlin) was overbooked, and my family and I were denied boarding.
We were informed of this as the flight was boarding.
Instead they sent us with Pegasus, but our luggage had on that time already left with AirBerlin.
When we arrived in AYT (Terminal 1) our luggage did not arrive. I went to Lost and Found (AirBerlin) to get help, but they refused to help me because my boarding pass was from Pegasus. Then I went to Pegasus Lost and Found, and they refused to help me because my luggage tickets were from AirBerlin.
They told me to take a taxi to Terminal 2 where my original flight would arrive to see if the luggage was there. I asked them if they could call the lost and found in Terminal 2 so I didn’t have to take a taxi. But they still wouldn’t help me.
I took a taxi to Terminal 2 (with my husband and our two small children). When we arrived only I was allowed in the airport, my family sat on the floor next to security (for 2 hours) – but no luggage in Terminal 2 either. I went to Lost and Found in Terminal 2 (AirBerlin) to get help, but they wouldn’t help me because my boarding pass was from Pegasus. They told me to take a taxi back to Terminal 1. So I did.
After 6 hours in AYT airport trying to get help, finally Lost and Found Pegasus helped me inquire my luggage, but they refused to give me the report.
My family waited for 6 hours outside the airport!!!! I spent 6 hours trying to get help!!!
2 days later my luggage arrived in the airport – but I had to pay for a taxi to go get it, because nobody would help me.
Now I have no Report (PID) from lost and found, so my insurance company cannot cover my expenses for taxi, lost vacation, shopping for needs an so further.
I have claim my legal compensation for denied boarding, and my expences for late baggage.
AirBerlin flight departed with our luggage but without us. That is not legal.
The answer from AirBerlin was. "Sorry for your inconvenience".
Is that a joke?
I strongly recomend everyone to stay away from AirBerlin.
They lie to you, and never pay your money back!
Due to delay we ended in Tegel on our way from Palma de Mallorca to Copenhagen. We were told to find a hotel on our own and even got a paper, that said we would get our money back. We have mailed them 3 times using their web-page complaint, we do get answers but they will not pay our money back. They only have a telephone line to order new tickets, you can not talk to anyone in airberlin about this. We will never fly Air berlin again.
When it comes to your holiday using this airline is just to big a gamble!!
Okay planes and stewards/stewardesses, but you better hope nothing goes wrong. My luggage was lost on the way to Corfu and after wrongful messages about its arrival the first two days, they just stopped answering any attempt to contact them.
After five days you have to send a worldtracer to some e-mail adress and then some secondary search for the luggage will begin. But except from the auto-reply e-mail we got when we send the e-mail, we never heard from airberlin eventhough our holiday lasted two weeks.
It is bad enough that you have to use your holiday on searching for underwear and other basic clothes, and also wait around for a suitcase that doesn't arrive, (since we stayed in an appartment so we had to stay at home every time they (wrongfully) told us the suitcase was coming). But not knowing what is going on and not being able to get in contact with the only people who can help, that is so frustrating and almost ruined our holiday.
I will never fly with Airberlin again nor will I recommend the airline to any one else - it is just to big a gamble to take with your holiday.
Horrobe treatment
I was flying from Moscow to Dusseldorf and from there to Copenhagen. From Copenhagen I had to catch the flight to Aalborg. But in Moscow the flight was late, so that result that I missed the flight from Dusseldorf to Copenhagen. I tried to get some help at your "service" in the airport, but got a ticket to late, so when I got to Copenhagen to late at the evening, the only way to get to Aalborg was with train, that I had to pay for my self. I arrived in Aalborg with train12 hours latere then I surposed ( cause no flight)
And plus, that your terrible agency lost my logage.
Never in my life will I ever use airberlin, I had never experiend so bad "service"
The answer from your employes in the airport was, "that´s aint our problem"
Don't ever use this horrible company
Together with my family we flew with Air Berlin to the Dominican Republic. One of our suitcases and everything inside was destryed while being Air Berlins responcibility. We reported in the airport as we arived and took photos and made everything necessary to be compensated. After coming home it is not possible to get an answer from the "cosyumer service" - seems not existing. I would never recommend anyone to use this horrible company. It is my worst experience ever.
Horrible service!
I bought a return ticket to Berlin and then had to cancel my flight. I was expecting to receive some kind of refund because I cancelled my tickets on time, but have not received any and decided to write to customer service. I got a confirmation that they have received my request, but have not heard from them. Then I wrote to them again and again in vain! So after some time I had to write again a complaint about their service and after several days got a response that they don't make any refunds. Really terrible service! Any other company refunds cancelled tickets or describe clearly in the process of booking that there will be no refund. But not in this case! Please do not use airberlin if you do not want any trouble. I wish I read reviews about them before. A really horrible company. They don't even care about customer complaints.
REALLY BAD service both in airport and in costumer service
Our story begins when I decided to give my husband a trip to Berlin for his birthday .
We ware going to be a weekend from Friday to Sunday in April 2014, and we were very excited. At the airport we however we were dined access when our flight had been overbooked. After much waiting and discussion , we were offered an overnight stay next to the airport and departure the next morning. They tried to offer us a voucher of 250 Euro , but we were not interested in a voucher, but wanted the money in cash or transferred to our bank which we are entitled to by law. It was not possible at the airport and we were asked to contact AirBerlin costumer service.
We got on the plane the next day and had nearly 24 hours in berlin before we returned home to Copenhagen .
Then I contacted AirBerlin customers services but they did not respond, I tried by phone where they advertised that you can talk with the staff in your own language ( Danish ), but I only came in contact with someone from India who were very poor English speaking and could not help me .
I was then writing once again to customer service and they finally answed that they are very sorry and will offer me 1 x voucher WHAT THE HELL !
I have already explained to them several times that I will have the cash or transfer, and we are entitled to 2 x 250 euros. So now I have written to them again but heard nothing yet and now it's June. We will never use AirBerlin again, they ruined our weekend and now we can not even get our compensation.
