Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 461 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about unhelpful ground staff, strict baggage rules, and completely unresponsive customer service agents when attempting to resolve urgent flight issues. Many consumers also struggled with expensive extra fees, delayed refund processes, and frustrating booking communication that ultimately left travelers stranded without proper support. Though some travelers faced major obstacles, a few passengers mentioned that the onboard staff could be friendly and the aircraft seats reasonably comfortable on certain long-haul flights. Reviewers also noted that certain crew members provided pleasant and polite service during their travel journeys.

Sadly Disappointed

Our experience with Air France can be put into categories.
Airport staff, face to face excellent, outcome poor.
Flight staff consideration, very good, journey satisfactory due to very restricted leg room and when the seat in front were put back it was like going under a low bar to get out of your seat! My friend had bruises! This was despite travelling premium economy!
Airport staff in Miami ( this was the only time in dealing with Air France that their communication was good) very good, kind and considerate.
Customer service (on the phone) sympathetic and helpful, outcome did not meet their expectation or mine!
Administration, very poor, evasive, prolonged, rude!
Face to face, Air France have trained their staff to be kind, helpful and they serve you well, in my opinion that stops when their administrative staff have to deal with a complaint! There is no personal service, you’re reduced to flight number and at every turn they evade and make your legitimate claim as difficult to manage as possible. I have spoken to friends who experience the same difficulty so this is a culture, a president that many reviews will attest to.
We originally booked with BA who cancelled the night before we were due to fly. They managed to get us a flight to Charles de Gaulle then a connecting flight with Air France to Miami.
We were booked to cruise on the following day and were concerned about our luggage as previous cruises we heard of many people who had more than one flight experienced luggage lost in transit. We checked with the luggage staff and also at the check in desk that our luggage was indeed on our flight and we were assured it was!
One hour before we landed in Miami I received an email saying our luggage was lost! At the airport the Air France representative was apologetic and tried to reassure us it would arrive the following day, which as it happened wasn’t helpful because the arrival time was an hour after our ship was due to sail! We were told to purchase what we needed and to keep all receipts in order to submit a claim and that our luggage would be reunited with us at our first port of call! We sailed Saturday our first port of call Tuesday!
We made the best of a poor outcome and did what we were advised.
Upon returning we submitted our claims.
They took a little over two months to be processed and then in order to complete the process I was asked to submit specific details of my bank account, which I did. This was followed by email after email asking for the same details. Each time I resent! There was no personal communication only standard pre written emails, despite me emailing asking for some clarification. My frustration led me to telephone their customer service department who were helpful and sympathetic after telling me my claim had been cancelled!
She listened to my story and confirmed that I had indeed sent all the information needed and told me that she would send an urgent correspondence reinstating my claim.
Seventy two hours later, a time she thought would be a reasonable wait time, I once again received an email saying ‘I reviewed your case and I’m pleased to inform you I can accept your request for reimbursement’, been here before!
I did indeed receive my claim of money I HAD to spend in order to be clothed and clean for almost half my cruise.
There was no acknowledgement of the fact they spoiled what had been a year long planned holiday, a holiday with a specific criteria of enjoyment which was missed. A cruise that was not only about enjoying the itinerary the ship prepared for us but for three days I was crafting and all my tools were in my suitcase! Four days of frequent visits to the ships customer service desk to assure our luggage did indeed meet us at the first port. I feel badly let done by the service who, on the face of it, are pleasant, helpful and considerate but underlying this is a culture of evasiveness, delay and inconsideration.
This was not only a disservice to myself but ultimately to their staff who work face to face, daily, with the public.

Air France is absolutely a piece of shit

Air France is absolutely a piece of shit, the level of service by employees(that i met) that are basically humanoid robots is astonishingly bad! Avoid at all costs! I have never in my life used so much profanity on anything, but this event made me furious. They DO NOT give a shit about you. I decided to write this to warn people after the same thing has happened multiple times, which is why I am so furious, if they treat me (who pays for business class) like this, imagine how they would treat you.

I fly business class all over the world and have flown with pretty much every major international airline. Somehow, Air France has managed to deliver a horrific and egregious experience every single time. Especially at the Charles de Gaulle airport(Which is literally in France!!!). The annoyance started once i landed, on my way to obtain my transit ticket. I entered the sky priority line since I am flying business and I have skyteam elite plus. Think i was paying to save time, but you know what, F*** that, because the guy at the counter still asks you to wait for those in economy AT THE SPECIALIZED SKY PRIORITY COUNTER.
And I do not mean I had to wait for one economy passenger who was already being helped, because that's reasonable. I mean I had to stand there for 40 minutes until the entire F*** economy line had gone through, and only then would they provide service to me. What exactly is the “priority” part? Is it some kind of conceptual art installation about the illusion of social status?
Nothing against anyone here but I paid f*** 4x the price and waited 40x longer!
And after making me wait forty minutes, the employee couldn't even tell me what gate my flight was departing from. It literally took him another twenty minutes of clicking around, asking colleagues, and staring at his screen just to find my gate. This is basic basic information that should either be printed on the boarding pass or instantly available in Air France's own system. I just stood there waiting while they tried to figure out where their own airplane was leaving from. Props to the guy at the delta airline counter that walked over and pointed it to him.
(edit: hours later I found out that he still confused the gate, if i had no checked the flight destination I would be in some random city in brazil. This is not due to a gate change because another air France counter employee told me that this is the gate throughout)
Once I got out of the line that took forever(Basically waited for the entire plane to go before me). I found out that the lounge is diabolical as well, and not even comparable to other international airlines like Cathey pacific, AND they won’t even let people that are underaged in(YES EVEN IF I OVERPAID FOR BUSINESS and again im a skyteam elite plus member). You need someone that is 18 years old to go with you, has solo travel become so f*** hard? I explained that I have a 13 hour transfer flight and that I have nowhere to go otherwise. They straight on suspected that i would drink alcohol once entering the lounge despite the fact that I explained THAT I AM ALLERGIC TO ALCOHOL, and no matter how I begged and I even offered to sit at the f*** counter(so that they can surveille me), they just robotically repeated "as my colleague has already explained blah blah blah". They simple DO NOT give a shit, they DO NOT care how about the airline, they just want to get rid of you. I literally bought business class FOR THE LOUNGE of this transit and I just have to sit there at the f*** gate, wasting my life. This airline even worse than human excretion! Not to mention that their tickets are overpriced and not even operated by them sometime(which is a good thing, delta is so much better from every aspect). If you bought their tickets for their service, they cheat you. If you have a connection flights u do not get both tickets prior to departure and after you land at the transit stop you have to run around for counters in random places just for your second boarding pass and wait at the line every single time. I had a long interval between flights, but if you don't, they do not give you a refund if you missed your flight. Their website and related products are basically a reflection of how shitty this airline is.

Absolute piece-of-shit airline. Never again.

If you have a different opinion, I feel happy for you for not having to go through what i went through

I am in DISBELIEF with Airfrance

I am in DISBELIEF Airfrance out of ANY reason cancelled my booking and the only thing done was send me an email saying my ticket was cancelled.
I called twice to customer services no one could tell me the reason, confirmed the booking would be cancelled and that there was nothing that could be done
I have this trip in 10 days and know I need to buy another ticket since I cannot cancel my travel. This is an ABSURD, I never went through anything like this in any other airline I’ve ever flew in my entire life.

Wish I could give them zero stars

Wish I could give them zero stars. Flying today August 1, 2026 flight AF001. To start, I booked the flights back in December and my seats were changed a couple of times. I was booked in row 23, and now moved to row 47, where all entertainment is down. Rows 30-47 have no TV or entertainment on an 8.5hour flight. How do they compensate you for this, they charged me an extra $300 for the luggage and had me playing “swap things” from one carry on to another. There’s a rule that a carry on has to be under 10lbs? The supervisor “Marcel” was useless, she actually gave me an attitude because I was upset? I’m sorry, I thought I was the customer. “Islam” who was on how 4th day on the job handled himself very professionally and tried his best to calm the situation, To make matters worse, our scheduled connecting flight was cancelled and a new flight was scheduled 6 hours later. How does an airline do that to its patrons, without any prior notice. I’m not wasting my time trying to even call them about any credit, there’s no credit they could offer me for the lost time and misery. NEVER FLY AIR FRANCE!!!! Go with another airline and save yourself from the aggravation.

We are being cheated out of the money we paid to have seats together on Air France/KLM flights.

We received an email in June from Air France about a small change in the times of our flights but no mention of the seating. A month later I logged into 'My Bookings', to check the time details and there was a message saying our seats had been changed for 'Operational reasons'. I checked the booking and all of the seats we had paid for had been removed from our booking. No refund of course. No replacement seat numbers were provided. Like most families, we book and pay for seats as we prefer to sit together while travelling. We originally paid about €76.91 for our seats, between €5.99 and €11.99 per seat per flight.
Clearly they now intend to just dump us onto any leftover seats, not necessarily together. Or maybe 'seatless' customers get refused entry if there is overbooking.
The message said we could choose alternative seats. However, as the seats we booked and paid for are now on sale at higher prices, we would have to pay another €100 or more to sit in the seats already paid for and even more for choosing different seats. I clicked on the seats already paid for on the seating plan. Some take the money already paid into consideration and charge the difference for the increased cost. Most do not acknowledge existing payments and charge the full new increased cost. For some, one of us chooses our original seat for free and the other pays the full increased new price for a seat already paid for at the old price.
As I was checking which seats we had booked and what we paid, I noticed that one seat had already been charged double, that is one seat at €11.99 and the seat beside at €23.98 even though it should be the same. Air France deny that these are different numbers!
I contacted the laughably called 'Customer Service'. They couldn't care less about customers, you fill in a form and get the message "All our assistants are currently busy, and we are unable to take new messages at the moment. Please try again later. Thank you for your patience. This chat session will now close."
This has been happening for two days now at all times, morning, noon and night. I got through for a few minutes today, did lots of typing, and was cut off without any resolution.
If our 'paid for' seats are not available to us because of 'operational reasons', why are they on sale to other customers willing to pay more than we did?
If there is a problem with their seating software, why can't Air France contact their customers and tell us what is going on and what they intend to do about it?

Hard to do worst in terms of customer…

Hard to do worst in terms of customer service. While flight attendants are very nice once in the plane, everything around it is a disaster. From booking, to seats, to being refused a stroller in the plane (which means we had no stroller for our connection in Paris with 2 kids), the customer service is inexistant. Air France’s employees are not helpful, they don’t want to solve any problems and are bound by processes.

Complaints department cant handle any issues

I've now had three separate issues with Air France over the last six months and, while mistakes can happen, it's the way they deal with complaints afterwards that has really disappointed me.

The first issue was having pre-booked seats removed from our return flight without any warning. We then had to pay again to choose new seats, only to discover our original seats had been given to a youth football team.

The second was far more serious. My wife was travelling with Special Assistance through Paris Charles de Gaulle and the experience left her in tears. We raised a complaint and received what felt like a standard apology, with no real indication that anyone had properly considered what had happened.

The third issue involved being given incorrect information by Air France before booking a Business Class trip. We specifically asked whether the flights would earn Virgin Atlantic Tier Points and were told they would. After travelling, we were told they didn't because of the fare class. The whole reason we booked those flights was to earn those Tier Points.

What has frustrated me most isn't even the original problems – it's the complaints process.

On one occasion I replied to Air France's decision email within 20 minutes, yet the case was still closed without my response being considered. Since then I've sent further emails, submitted a formal escalation covering all three complaints and even sent a follow-up simply asking for confirmation that my email had been received. Weeks later, I still haven't had a reply. I also experienced being transferred between departments, placed on hold without explanation and even having calls disconnected while trying to raise complaints.

At this point I don't feel like Air France is interested in resolving customer concerns. They seem happy to apologise, but I haven't seen much evidence that anyone actually looks into what happened or follows up when you challenge their decision.

I've flown with Air France many times over the years, so this review isn't based on one bad flight. It's based on repeated experiences and what has become a complete lack of confidence in their customer service.

I cannot recommend KLM or Air France…

I cannot recommend KLM or Air France…
I cannot recommend KLM or Air France based on my experience.

On 4 June 2026, I travelled on Flight KL592 from Johannesburg to Houston. When I arrived, I discovered that my checked baggage had been tampered with and several of my personal belongings were missing. I reported the incident immediately, obtained a police report, and submitted a baggage claim (Reference: C-11411675).

More than 55 days later, I am still waiting for a satisfactory resolution.

During this time, I have repeatedly contacted customer service, spent money making international calls from South Africa, submitted my banking details and supporting documentation multiple times, and continually followed up with no meaningful progress. I was informed that my payment had been rejected, yet no one has taken ownership of resolving the issue or explaining how it would be corrected.

The most disappointing part has been the lack of communication and accountability. Instead of proactively assisting a customer who experienced theft from their baggage, I have had to chase updates constantly. Calls have resulted in little or no assistance, emails have gone unanswered for long periods, and I have been left feeling ignored.

Based on my experience, the claims process has been frustrating, time-consuming, and exhausting. It has left me with the impression that customers are expected to keep chasing the airline for compensation rather than receiving timely support.

As a result, I have escalated my complaint to the appropriate regulatory authorities and continue to pursue a resolution.

If you are considering travelling with KLM or Air France, I encourage you to carefully consider how you would expect an airline to support you if something goes wrong with your baggage. My experience has left me with very little confidence that my claim would be handled promptly or effectively.

I sincerely hope no other passenger has to go through the same experience that I have endured over the past 55 days.

8th Best Airline in the World????

2 stars why not 1, well Air France were very good when our flight from Phuket landed into Paris CDG over 3hrs late at approx 0100hrs. They sorted out food and transfers to our overnight accommodation until our connecting flight was due later that morning and that whole process was very professional.
The negatives - The Boeing 777ER flights to and from Phuket were cramped in economy and the food was average, I just expected more from an Airline ranked No.8 in the world.
The real issue and ONGOING issue as of 23-Jul-26. Under EU Regulation 261/2004 we are entitled to compensation. I made 2 bookings, one for my family of three on this delayed return flight and one for my parents on the same flight. Completely different bookings and different surnames. My family of 3 raised our compensation claim and had it paid approx 3-weeks after returning to the UK (24-Feb-26). At the same time I raised a separate claim for my parents using their details and Flight Booking reference. A few days after submitting their claim, the claim reference was closed down with Air France citing this was a 'duplicated claim', it wasn't, it was a different booking reference with different surnames. I called customer services, got stuck in a queue for 50 mins and finally got them to see that the closed claim wasn't a duplication. A ticket was raised by the agent, I was then told it would get resolved. 2-months later, nothing, I call customer services again, they go through the same process and add a further 'note' to my case that my claim for my parents is not a duplication and it needs paying - nothing, 2-months later same process again. At no point am I allowed to actually talk to the compensation department which is hugely frustrating, instead the agents (who are helpful) state they can only add a note to my file/case and await the compensation team to resolve it.
I'm now at the point where I'm about to file a formal complaint through the Alternative Dispute Resolution for Aviation.
This is all so UNECESSARY, Air France legally will have to pay this money so why not just play by the rules and not put me through this process in the first place?

Nasty and dangerous won’t announce nut allergies

Dangerous. This is the only airline in my experience that the crew refuses to announce a nut on…
In their policy it states it is ‘at the discretion of the crew’. I was told I was ‘only one person’. I explained that it affects everyone on the plane as the plane would have to divert/land if a medical emergency on board ‘fine we’ll land’ she said. Other passengers around me were shocked. Nasty.

Do not fly Air France with a handicap!!

So, I'm obviously not the only passenger extremely dissatisfied with Air France. I travel with assistance, due to a severly impacted right hip since childhood. On long stretches, like, e.g. in big Airports, I'm on a cane for safety. Yesterday, on an Air France flight from Paris to Hanover, I was forgotten by the assistance service, which in itself is scandalous enough. I then applied for help with the next staffer I saw nearby, in an Air France uniform, and though he saw me in need and on a cane, HE DENIED ME HELP ON THE BASIS THAT I WAS NOT A BUSINESS CLASS CUSTOMER, and I had accidentally entered a business class lounge. I asked him twice explicitely whether he denied me help (e.g. by making a phone call etc.) on the basis that I was not a business class customer and he confirmed twice.
More Air France staffers failed me when I approached the correct desk. The guy who had checked us in promised he would stop the next assistant passing his desk by on my behalf, which my partner and I then witnessed him not to do. We stopped the assistance ourselves and reached the plane at the end of the official boarding, very exhausted. I then spent the whole flight back filing a complaint to Air France on a flight attendant's tablet, which, I'm sure, will be answered with convenient Corporate Communications wording, and nothing will change.

We travelled from Brazil to Paris on…

We travelled from Brazil to Paris on flight AF 465 on 29th June 2026. What a disaster, the cabin crew were so rude and obnoxious. I'm type 1 diabetic and suffered a hypoglycemic episode, I called for the cabin crew and I was ignored for ten minutes, I managed to get the attention of one member of the crew. I explained in a very curt manner my predicament, low sugar makes diabetics short tempered. He curtly informed me I should have told the crew when boarding that I was diabetic.
Under normal circumstances I would have had a juice or glucose sweet to hand but this time I didn't. I received a cup of juice with a level of contempt and eye rolls.
I then had the unfortunate need to use the bathroom, I have never seen such a filthy bathroom, the bin was full with tape over it telling passengers not to use it. The toilet was filthy dirty and badly in need not of cleaning but replacement.
I'll never again fly with this airline.
We travelled economy, maybe that was our mistake because premium economy and business class appeared to receive a level of service that was dar above what the great unwashed in economy received.

I do not recommend flying with Air…

I do not recommend flying with Air France. Based on my experience, they handled our case very poorly. We purchased tickets from Punta Cana to Bucharest with a connection in Paris, where our connecting flight AF6634 (Paris–Bucharest) was cancelled, forcing us to wait around 7 hours at the airport. Air France refused to pay compensation, citing “safety and security reasons,” but I do not believe this justified denying compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004. It felt like they were looking for any reason to avoid paying compensation. The only way we had a real chance of enforcing our rights was by hiring a flight compensation company that could take legal action if necessary. The customer service and the overall experience were extremely disappointing. I would never choose to fly with Air France again.

Do not book with air France

Do not book with air France

Nothing is well with them

They should stop the air transportation and do something else. Bagages lost , flight canceled without noticing and rude staff they look like they're all depressed
you couldn't even have someone with a smile . The pilots! You and your chance you may have a good one or disaster flight.
In Paris I asked air france at desk if possible to have a phone to call for my missing luggage.
They said They don't have a phone number. And my luggage will be in my final destination.
My vacation almost done with no clothes . Still waiting even i know that no one will care and I will never see my luggage again like what happened to my wife with the last year and no refund

So for me air france should stop and let Ryanair operate in their country they are 100 time better.
I will never book with them.
I can see air france as pizzeria maybe it will work
