Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 461 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about unhelpful ground staff, strict baggage rules, and completely unresponsive customer service agents when attempting to resolve urgent flight issues. Many consumers also struggled with expensive extra fees, delayed refund processes, and frustrating booking communication that ultimately left travelers stranded without proper support. Though some travelers faced major obstacles, a few passengers mentioned that the onboard staff could be friendly and the aircraft seats reasonably comfortable on certain long-haul flights. Reviewers also noted that certain crew members provided pleasant and polite service during their travel journeys.

Air France lost the luggage during…

Air France lost the luggage during layover in Paris in December 2025. The luggage never arrived to final destination nor was it ever returned to my country of origin.

The value of lost clothes and other items was well over 2000 euros but I didn't have tickets (who does?).

Six months, numerous automatic messages and useless phone calls later the compensation was payed today: 269 euros. If this is legal it is legalized theft. #### you.

The worst experience of my life

The worst experience of my life! Do not travel Air France. Went to US and back to Europe. Each flight was delayed at least 90 minutes, once they kept us 3 hours and then disembarked the plan. On my way back delay again, due to which I missed the next flight. A real joke of a company.

Headline

Headline: Warning to all passengers: Air France has completely lost my luggage and refuses to provide fair compensation.
"I am sharing my frustrating experience with Air France. My luggage was completely lost during my recent flight, and the airline has been failing to take responsibility or provide the compensation I am legally entitled to under the Montreal Convention (My Case Ref: C-11038735).
I have officially escalated this matter to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) under reference number 2026061436467, and I am currently filing a formal complaint with the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC).
I am publicly demanding that Air France addresses this loss immediately and provides the fair compensation required by international aviation law. Fellow travelers, know your rights—do not let airlines get away with losing your belongings without consequences.

I want give them one star and that is…

I want give them one star and that is only because the flight attendants were really nice! I flew from Houston to Malaga with a layover in Paris. I upgraded my economy class ticket to premium economy. The food was horrible! The bathrooms were not clean! And!!!! On top of that you pay for checked luggage. $700+$75(checked luggage) for just a tad bit bigger seat! Not worth it at all!!! So disappointed!! Might as well fly economy. I flew economy on my way back and conditions were the exact same, just a smaller seat.

True Blue No Longer

Over two days of trying to book a single RT trip Boston-Paris I spent about 8 hours. Everytime I got close to checkout, the site would crash "sorry, something went wrong". Wait times on the telephone were measured in hours, and a transfer because this wasn't "the right person", guaranteed a lost call. I finally fell asleep at 1 am still on hold. During this nightmare, they changed pricing, flight numbers etc in between contacts. I now understand that their algorithm crashes a booking being made online if there is a chance for a price increase. Now I am locked out and cannot even get online; the site will not even recognize my True Blue number. Well, True Blue no longer. Will I be able to get on this flight after having paid over $3,000?? That remains an unknown.

I am an extremely frustrated and…

I am an extremely frustrated and disgruntled customer. I need to speak to a human being. I had a very difficult experience earlier this year and my flight from Florence to Los Angeles was cancelled twice and then diverted to Bologna. I am a 74 year old woman that needed flight assistance as I was recovering from a hip replacement operation and therefore the diversion was very difficult for me.
I requested my expenses to be refunded in the amount of 220 dollars, which I thought was fair under the circumstances.
That was a month ago, since then I was denied that request and when I questioned why, they offered me just half for 120 euros, that they would send to a bank account that does not belong to me.
To say I am frustrated by the appalling customer service is an understatement. No one is responding to my questions about only half of my expenses being refunded and where they got in incorrect bank information from.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs! Absolutely horrendous customer service. In February we were flying business to Costa rica using Air France from London. We had to catch a flight transfer 8am to Paris with the flight to Paris at 1pm. The flight from London was delayed meaning we missed our connecting flight in Paris. The comms were very poor but eventually they offered to put us up but we could only fly direct in prem economy the next day. The hotel in Paris was v basic ie no dining facilities, difficult to get to, no information from air Paris ( generally grunpy and unhelpful staff) but we got the flight the next day. We have been asking for compensation since for the substantial price difference. Their complaints process is a joke, we have had no reply on our complaint just constant requests to upload more information. Never use them.

I am extremely disappointed with my…

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Air France.

At check-in, my suitcase was flagged for being approximately only 2 kg over the permitted limit. Instead of offering any reasonable flexibility or a customer-oriented solution, I was instructed to unpack my luggage directly at the counter in front of staff and other passengers. I was effectively forced to reorganize my belongings on the spot and wear multiple layers of clothing in order to comply with the baggage allowance.

This handling felt unnecessarily strict, inflexible, and disproportionate to such a minor excess. While I fully understand that baggage rules must be enforced, I do not consider this approach to be consistent with the standards expected from a full-service airline.

The lack of discretion and basic passenger consideration made the experience highly stressful and left a very negative impression of Air France. It significantly impacted the start of my journey and felt more in line with a low-cost carrier rather than a premium airline.

I expect a higher level of professionalism and customer care in the future.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience, predatory on making you check the bag to make you pay more than the ticket itself. Never flying again and will tell everyone not to.

Our airplane from Airfrance was delayed

Our airplane from Airfrance was delayed 1 hour due to a technical error.
We missed our connecting tain.
Had to stay overnight at the airport hotel and take the train the next day.
I complained, but Airfrance did not compensate me. No customer service at airport or telephone.

If any airplane is delayed less than 3 hours you get nothing. 0 €.

Airfrance, please use more money on maintenance on your airplanes.

If Re-Sending Documents Were a Frequent Flyer Program, I'd Be Platinum

My experience with Air France customer service has been extremely disappointing.

Since May, I have been trying to resolve two issues: a damaged baggage claim and reimbursement for a baggage allowance payment that failed due to an Air France app/system malfunction. Despite providing all requested documents multiple times—including the PIR report, photographs, bank details, and screenshots of conversations with customer service—I continue to be asked for information that has already been submitted.

What has made the experience even more frustrating is the lack of communication. My case has been handled by Vishal Taneja, and obtaining a response often required sending multiple follow-up emails. Weeks later, I am still waiting for updates, particularly regarding the baggage allowance reimbursement.

Due to the damage to my luggage, I was forced to purchase a replacement suitcase at my own expense while travelling. Rather than focusing on resolving the claim, I have spent most of my time resending the same information over and over again.

I expected a much higher standard of customer service from an international airline such as Air France. Mistakes can happen, but the delays, poor communication, and repeated requests for already submitted information have made this a very frustrating experience.

Avoid

The only airline I know that adds an extra step just to weigh in your jacket and personal items on a separate line at the airport. Why would you care about the weight of my bag that goes under the seat in front of me? Clearly one step towards ensh*tification

Awful experience with Air France.

Awful experience with Air France.
I booked tickets on their website, I paid for it but my booking disappeared from the website. It was 2 weeks ago. Customer service recognises the debit and tells me I will be refunded.
But I am still waiting.
2 claims on the website ( downloading the proof of payment), 4 calls. They tell me refund is coming....but nothing.
It is shame for such a Company.
It was my first booking with AF and could be the last if I don't receive immediately my refund.

I followed every instruction. Five months later, my claim was rejected.

I have now reached the point where I feel compelled to share my experience with Air France/KLM's baggage claims process.

My baggage was delayed after it was not loaded onto my flight from London City Airport to Amsterdam. I followed the exact process provided to me by Air France staff at the airport and submitted all required documentation.

My luggage was returned on 1 January, and I submitted my claim on 8 January.

After waiting FIVE MONTHS for a response, my claim was rejected on the basis that it was allegedly submitted outside a 7-day deadline.

The issue is that my claim was submitted within seven days of receiving my baggage. Furthermore, my understanding is that the 7-day deadline relates to damaged baggage rather than delayed baggage claims. Despite raising both of these points and providing the relevant dates, my concerns were simply dismissed.

Following my appeal, I waited a further three weeks for a response. Rather than addressing the facts I had raised, the response simply stated, "sorry, there is nothing we can do."

At no point has anyone properly explained how a claim submitted on 8 January falls outside a 7-day period from 1 January. Nor has anyone addressed the fact that I followed the exact guidance provided by Air France staff at the airport.

What is even more frustrating is the lack of any meaningful escalation route. Communication is restricted to email, there is no direct way to discuss the case with a decision-maker, and despite requesting a call, nobody has contacted me.

This is not about the value of the claim. The amount involved is relatively small. It is about the principle of a customer following the airline's instructions, complying with the process, waiting over five months for a response, and then having their claim rejected without any meaningful consideration of the facts.

I travel regularly and have used Air France and KLM multiple times each year. Unfortunately, this experience has left me with little confidence in how customer issues are handled, and I will be reconsidering my future travel choices as a result.

I would be interested to hear whether other travellers have experienced similar issues with Air France or KLM baggage claims.

Air terrible

Air terrible. They lost my mother’s wheelchair and could not find it. She has not been able to leave the apartment because of pain and when we asked for the wheelchair to be refunded they cancelled our flights and said sorry nothing we can do. Never ever putting trust in Air France again. Disgraceful airline!!

The Ryan air of long haul.

We flew long haul, the meals were disgusting slop. The staff were very lazy, there was only drinks offered at meal times, if you want anything in between you had to get it yourself.
The plane itself was pretty shabby and in a poor state of repair.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service experience. I would recommend spending a little more and flying with another airline—it may save you a lot of frustration.

At the check-in counter at Milan Linate Airport on June 5, 2026, I was forced to check my very small duffel bag, even though it was my paid carry-on bag and was small enough to fit under the seat. It was not an extra bag; it was the carry-on allowance included with my ticket.

Unfortunately, I had fragile souvenirs (cups) inside, and they were broken after being checked. I was also instructed to carry my power banks separately in my hands on a 15 hour flight including connection in Paris.

What disappointed me most was the lack of understanding and flexibility from the staff member at the counter. The interaction felt unnecessarily rigid and unhelpful.

Based on this experience, I would not choose Air France again.

literally toilet s**t

literally toilet s**t leaking throughout the flights into business class cabin. It was very apparent when boarding there was a unhygienic and unsanitary smell in the cabin, asked the cabin crew about this and was advised it was due to a engineering issue with a pipe when cleaning but would resolve itself once in the air... bullsh**t. reported again as something didn't seem right when boarded and sat down that the same said toilet, fluids and other sorts of liquids leaked out of the toilet and into the main cabin compartment and carpert... reported once again to the cabin crew who dismissed it as not being related or relevant... which if i showed you the pictures it would have been obvious. common sense prevailing you would've hoped, you would've again thought with the issue not resolving itself and persisting they would marked the toilet out of service... instead through the whole duration of a 12 hour flight it was still in use and leak even up until the point the gantry was connected and we disembarked! so many issues as also the toilet was near the food galley! again i'll let you imagine the issues with this being the case!

On hold to answer phone for 4 hours
They asked to use-messenger or WhatsApp hats app
There also very slow response
For upgrade they sent me to payment site which was not Air France but some shady site
When asked customer care (after 2 hours hold) told me they don’t have payment and I need to call my travel agent and supervisor is not available
I wish I can just cancel my air franc ticket
